About the Artistic Director

An accomplished Singaporean and choral director, Francis Liew was trained as a lyric tenor under Huang Phay Ching at the age of 18. He has sung with several premier choirs in Singapore and conducted his church choirs from 19802004. He started training school choirs in 1999 and presently conducts 9 school choirs. His forte is the ability to work with young and ordinary choirs and transform them into respectable choirs in a very short time. Several of them have blossomed into awardwinning choirs both locally and internationally. The Singing Saints, the top boys treble choir in Singapore, is one fine example. The choir has garnered 3 consecutive Gold (With Honours ) Awards at the biennial Singapore Youth Festival Competition in 2008. 2010 and 2012, and the Gold Diploma at the 36th Festival of Songs, Olomouc, Czech Republic. Believing in providing opportunities for his choirs not just locally, he has led his choirs to festivals and competition in USA, Czech Republic, Malaysia, China, Taiwan, Japan and Hong Kong. He has served as artistic director and sat on the panel of adjudicators of several festivals.
