The Alchemists Secret Sample Chapter By Katie Gatto

An Awkward First Day With Drew put on the throne Callia knew that her real work had just begun. Callia entered her new rooms in the palace. The first thing she noticed was the sheer size. This room, which she knew from her studies, was a receiving room, was the most elegant space that she had ever seen. The floor was a black marble, inlaid with veins of gold. The walls were a smooth white plaster that had been covered on the top half with an ornate mural depicting scenes from the royal histories. Below the dark wood railing that separated the two sections of the wall was left untreated, probably to keep the furniture that adorned the room from scuffing the art. She also knew that this was only one of seven rooms in her chambers, the furthest back of which would be her actual bedchambers. The she saw the four women, all in formal attire chatting pleasantly. For a second she wondered if she had walked into the wrong rooms. She heard Peyas voice whisper in her ear, Theyre your highnesss attendants. In that moment she decided that appointing him her personal Chaplain was one of the most intelligent things she had ever done. Ill make introductions and then get them out of your hair as quickly as I can, Peya went on. That clinched it; he was the best decision ever. She didnt bother to remember their names; it didnt matter much as she would be dismissing them from her service tomorrow.
