House Cricket
The opening game between Alexander and Churchill ended with Alexander winning. They reached Churchills total of 35 in 5.1 overs. Max Curtis and Pepe Garralda guiding the team to victory without any real scare. Game two saw Churchill take on Cunningham. Churchill batting first, reached a total of 42 with a fantastic batting display from Alex Blackwell, reaching an unbeaten 26 in 6 overs. Cunningham looked like they had won the game needing 3 runs to win from the final over. Alex Blackwell completed the over for only 1 run to win an extremely close-fought game. The final game saw Cunningham take on Alexander. Cunningham batted first and very tight bowling from Alex kept Cunningham down to just 24 runs in their 6 overs. With Alex only needing 25 to win the result looked inevitable. However, some excellent bowling from Cunningham, including a timely maiden from Hamish Gardner, saw the game go down to the final ball of the final over! Alex only needing a single to win the tournament, Ollie Harris hit the ball straight back to the bowler but knew he had to run. The ball wasn't picked up cleanly, leaving Ollie Harris and Hugo Watts to run the single needed for victory. A fantastically contested tournament with the stand out players being Pepe Garralda and Alex Blackwell. Mr Mildon

Swimming
Over the next week pupils will receive their profiles and personal best times for the year. The results help the swimmers to see best strokes, most improvement and whether they have reached a medal standard in any stroke. One copy will be placed in their Records of Achievement and one glued into planners. Please have a look at the progress your child has made. Pupils also use these as targets for self improvement. For the teachers, we can monitor progress and input more lessons in 1 stroke, if necessary. Last year backstroke needed work and there has been a 100% improvement in backstroke this year. Next year, breaststroke needs work! The following pupils deserve praise for their consistency in achieving National School speed standards (set by the ASA) in all disciplines. We work on: backstroke, breaststroke, fly, crawl, 100m free and 50m free. Congratulations to: Alex Blackwell, Darren Banks, Javier, Pepe Garralda, Imogen Rees, Seren Clayton, Olivia Campbell and Abi Blackwell. Well done! Mrs Hichliffe
