Authors composed works in the genre before 1900, of course, but these works are generally not considered pure science fiction. They usually contain an admixture from other genres. Chapters 1.- Mr. Washoll Ogbort. 2.- The planet 935-3 3.- The voyage of Abe. 4.- The arrival to 935-3 CHAPTER ONE. Mr Washoll Ogbort. Mr. Ogbort went to the Aristarchus planet on the Volpecula planetary system to be candidate for President in that planetary system. The liner has all its passengers in cryogenic chambers until the arrival- new awakening methods permits the passengers feel as they were awakening from a normal eight hours sleep, instead of the weeks that was the real elapsed time.

Ogbort was receiving calls as soon as the liner hooked up with the docking Station. Aristarchus was a terraformed planet where only the rich and famous could pretend to live. Senator Hogwarts on the Visophone, Sir.- The mechabiologic entity named Doris told him, while he was still in bed. Pass me in.- He said, smiling- these new mechabiologic entities were expensive but far superior to the Synthetic entities so very common throughout the Federation. The fat face of Senator Hogwarts fills the holographic sphere, saying: Welcome to our world, Mr. Ogbort. Its nice to see you here. Thanks you, Senator Hogwarts! Im happy to be here too, where so many friends I intended to make! Yes, I am sure you will make true friends in our midst! Theres a lot of issues to discuss, but of that, later. I sent you my personal shuttlecraft, Mr. Ogbort! Use it at your will!- Senator Hogwarts said. Thanks again, Senator! Your invaluable help in this first stage of my campaign will be seriously appreciated in the future.- Ogbort said. After some more talking, Ogbort hang up and looking at Doris, he said: A shuttlecraft had been ascribed to me- see that is ready to depart to the surface of Aristarchus. Its docking, Sir. Twelve minutes later and you will be able to get aboard.- Doris said. Ogbort looked at her: blonde and with a superb body, Doris was standing at attention near the border of his bed. Tell me about you, Doris. I am coming from the Fringes and your model is news for meOgbort said. I am a electronic engineer, plus Architect. My incept date is the year 3812 Common Era. I am working aboard this spaceship since three years now.- Doris said. I wonder how your model cost. Thirty two million credits, Sir. But we arent for sell- we are Independent beings to a limit.Doris said. How many of you are already living?- Ogbort asked, trying not to assume she was less than a human being. We are thirty six millions, Sir. Here on Aristarchus there are 1.233.300 Mechabiologic persons.- Doris said. Ogbort was impressed.- that means Aristarchus had a lot of state of the art people that certainly was improving the systems ten fold. The first officer appears at the door, and after Ogbort dressed properly, he entered the room and said: Welcome, Sir! Hope you had a nice trip. Yes, a very peaceful one, thanks to your spaceship facilities.- Ogbort replied. A shuttle craft is ready for you to depart, Sir. We had delivered some small commodities at the Shuttle, Sir. Hoping you remember us in your future trips.- The Officer said. I am sure I will use your company for any future voyages, officer. And now let me give you a small present.- And Ogbort gives him a small set of holographic vistas on a pocket-size holographic visor. At the shuttle, Captain AB 023 AV receives him at the corridor, saying: Welcome, Sir. We have a nice suit for you to use while traversing the atmosphere. Thanks you, Captain. I am sure it will be a nice flight.- Ogbort said, following the E-man. At a wide cabin, two other Synthetic entities were waiting E-females, dressed in pink and green uniforms. Welcome, Sir. Do you want to seat now?- One of them said. Yes! I assume doing it will start our small trip?- Ogbort asked them, smiling. Yes, Sir . You are very clever.- The other one said, signaling him where to seat. Ogbort seats while they strapped him to that chair, and the shuttle craft departed, unhooking from the Orbital Station. Eighteen minutes later, Ogbort walked out of the shuttle and with one of the Efemale walked inside a Flier, which carried him to the city of Horace. Ogbort had a glimpse of that city: round spheres shining under the star Volpecula. The city was situated near a mountain range and a river crossed while doing a curve to the East side.

They descended near a sphere looking building, and Ogbort was surprised to notice the enormous height those spheres had. At the inside, every corridor has moving carpets, so the inhabitants neednt to walk or, if walking, they advance a lot more distance in scant seconds. They stepped out on an aisleseveral doors opened there, and the E-lady that was guiding him takes his hand to help. Thanks. I needed it.- Ogbort said, noticing her hand has a firm and warmth grip. Senator Hogwarts was waiting on his huge office and stands up from his armchair to salute him. Welcome, Mr. Ogbort! Nice to have you in person.- Senator Hogwarts said and offered him a chair where to seat, a cigar to smoke and liquor to drink- Ogbort uses it all, saying: Fine office you have here, Senator! Hope we could make my candidacy a success! The fat face of Senator Hogwarts blushed and he said: Of course you will succeed, Mr. Ogbort! In our community your name is amply known, together with your capacities! We need a clever President here. We had a a woman President that is now ending her term- also, the precedent Presidents had only being plowing the way, so to speak- we need to soar in business! We need to rise from world economic category 72nd to category 5th. Or 6th. I am sure I can make all your dreams come true! Just give me the ladder!- Ogbort said, in not a humble way. Senator Hogwarts blushed with greed and said: Your ascertains amazed me, but also, I am sure you are the answer to our yearning of a better future. Ogbort smiled and said: I am here to help. I already am a rich person, Senator Hogwarts- I dont need more wealth than the realization I can help my fellow millionaires. Senator Hogwarts laughed, now sure he had the man they need to became richer and richer still. In the next four days, Ogbort established his headquarters at the Farmers Hotel, that supplies to all his needs for just four thousand Credits a month- that sum included from the toothpaste to a Flier, when needed, passing by an E-lady for the night. The Holocaust news begin showing his person every two days; Ogbort gives interviews for the Horace city news media, knowing it was being transmitted also to the other big cities on the planet: Verne, Haggard, DeFoe and Resnik. His opponents were seven: four of them former managers or Directors at the mining industry; the other three were trade unionists and those had the mayor support from the populace. I have a set of lunch times with tycoons, Mr. Ogbort. Hope you can convince them to vote for you and give your campaign the necessary support it needs.- Senator Hogwarts said. I will do my best to get their support.- Ogbort replied- and at the meetings, he offered ample room for business in his future administration. Four weeks before the end of campaigns, Ogbort had already the necessary contacts to do what was necessary to win. At an old truck, he met two ghouls- Mr. Hiffon and Mr. Rashon. Both of them with numerous brain and other organic implants- real giants mentally and physically, if believing the implants were all in working order and not crashing one against the other. I need to stop them to interfere with my plans. I am a newcomer and they had been around for just quite a while longer. They are known to people.- Ogbort said, looking keenly at those two men. You tell us when, boss. Eighty grand for each.- Hiffon said, huskily. Must seem to be accidents.- Ogbort commented. A thousand more for that issue, when possible, boss. You know we need a lot of luck to get to the finals.- Rashon said. And we hadnt much money to buy the necessary tools._ Hiffon rumbled out. The money will come. Start with Knofor Taro.- Ogbort said, handling those photographs of the man, plus addresses. Hiffon takes it and after a while, he said: This guy loves fishing. Guess hell get drown. Rashon chuckled. Ogbort pays them 500 Credits while saying: Heres some money for starts. Rashon takes the bills and looked at Ogbort and said: -Dont think we can be fooled, boss. I dont.- Ogbort said, departing. That week-end, Mr. Knofor Taro takes some time to jump on his boat and with two friends went fishing to the Ariadna Sea, not ten cables from the shore.

Half an hour later after the anchor was thrown by the border, to secure the boat from drifting, a read and black flier appears almost kissing the waves0 a door opened and the ugly muzzles of a pair of old fashioned machine guns appears, much to the surprise of the fishermen on the boat. A rain of small bullets went down over those fishermen- Mr. Knofor Taro stumbled to the sea, after having more than a dozen shots on his body. Enough!- Hiffon said, releasing the trigger. There goes this.- Rashon said, dropping a grenade on the boat. When the Flier was almost above the coast, an explosion snapped the boat in two halves and a ball of fire and smoke appears at the place. Neat!- Hiffon said. Very professional.- Rashon said. Ogbort saw the news flash on his wrist watch; he was astounded to see the wreck. Which part of the to seem an accident those thugs didnt understand? At the next day, he saw both men on a cocktail reception for workers he had scheduled in advance- pretending to be mere workers, Hiffon and Rashon approaches him. Nice mess you did at the sea.- Ogbort said, not rising the voice as he was not wanted to be heard for the rest of the people. An accident.- Hiffon said. Yes, as subtle as a dinosaur in bed.- Ogbort grumbled. Why do you worry, boss? The guy will not be bothering you anymore.- Rashon commented. Your money is here. Take this pencil.- Ogbort said, handling a pen to Hifforn, who looked at it suspiciously. A pencil, boss? Are you out of your mind? This shit cost less than a Credit!- Rashon said, taking the pencil from Hifforns hand. Gamurro Lorenzini.- Ogbort said. What with him?- Rashon asked. Dumb! Hes the next on the list.- Hiffon said, smacking his lips. Of course! Well take care of this.- Rashon said. Hiffon said: We need the necessary information, boss. Those guys are way out of our social circle of friends. Bingo.- Rashon said, leaving the premises. Ogbort takes his time talking with a dozen supporters and then went away. Rashon seats inside the trucks cabin and finds the small holo- projector beneath a piece of metal lid. He pressed a button and every data on Mr. Lorenzini was there: a union worker himself, he was spending all his efforts in to be the voice of the unionists on the government. Ill find the way to catch him unawares.- Rashon grumbled out. Two days later, Gamurro Lorenzini was still at an office on the Miners Working Associationscant other people were available on the many offices of that place. While Lorenzini was talking by Visophone, a pair of road sweepers appears, pushing a small carriage with a pair of vacuum cleaning machine. Hey, buddy! Stand outside while we mop this filth!- Hiffon said. Startled, Lorenzini looked at the men and said by the visophone: Ill call you later, Francis! Theyre going to clean this place. He finish the conversation while Hiffon takes a chainsaw from the small carriage and begin hacking Lorenzini through the din of the engine. The cries of pain and horror were masked by The roar of the engine. First an arm went flying to the wall, as Lorenzini tries to stop the saw with it- then his chest was chopped with the chain, spurting blood and pieces of flesh all around. When the body hits the floor, Hiffon cuts the head, which stumbled to a corner and stayed there, looking at the wall with eyes than no longer were able to see. Hiffon puts the handle of the chainsaw on Lorenzinis left hand, saying: An accident. Rashon chuckled. Several persons appears on the threshold, looking horrified to the mess it was spilled blood, the decapitated head and the two ghouls dripping blood from their stained clothes. A woman yelled high and went to the floor, fainted. The rest run to the corridor in haste.

Lets go, pal! Nothing more to do here!- Rashon said, and both men went out to the street by the deserted corridors. Once on the Subway, they take out their masks, much to the curiosity of the passengers. Piece of cake!- Hiffon said, throwing his mask to the floor. At the next day, Ogbort appears at the vacant lot with more money, this time cash and on a paper bag. Hi, boss! Do you like your new job?- Rashon asked. As sophisticated as a blow on your head!- Ogbort replied. Dead people dont talk.- Hiffon said, handling the bag and looking at the Credit bills Two more to go: Ferdinand Christian and Dorg Fehvenche. You have only a week to dispose of those two- then it will be elections day, and after that their deaths will mean nothing to me!- Ogbort said. Piece of cake!- Hiffon said, pocketing the money. Well do it!- Rashon said, happily. Dont fail on me! If you are caught, stay with your mouths shut!- Ogbort said, departing away on foot. Hiffon said: Now we get some women! Right!- Rashon said, licking his own lips, and they hailed a taxi flier, saying: Carry us where the fun and the women are! Two days later, Mr. Ferdinand Christian was giving a speech at the Simahk Square, when a black and red Flier appears, hovering over the heads of the two hundred persons there assembled. A door opens on the flier, and an ugly muzzle appears- from a near-by building shoots begin to be fired against the aerial vehicle. The gunner inside the Flier stumbled over the crowd, who cried in terror while they stampeded away- Mr. Christian was sheltered by guards who take him towards safety. On the News, twenty minutes later, Ogbort was able to see the whole incident, and the posterior flight of the Red and Black flier, that was lost from sight after the shooting. Damn it!- Ogbort said, cutting off the projection. He looked at his wrist watch= 23:10 oclock. He went out to the street and hailed a taxi, not willing to use the Hotel Flier, for obvious reasons. To the gambling zone, pal.- He told the in-built driver. Ten minutes to the Gambling zone, Sir. Nice weather.- The voice said from the main console. Nice.- Ogbort said, looking out by the window pane. Four minutes later, the built-in driver said: Have you any friends going after you, Sir? Ogbort went out for his musings and replied: No, why do you ask? For mere precaution, Sir, and as you are going possibly to gamble with some money in your pocket, I decide to loose two vehicles that are tailing us. But they are persistent. Ogbort looked at the radar screen the built-in driver was making blink at the main console, and said: Ill recommend you to your superiors because you make decisions when necessary. See what we are going to do: land on the most crowded terrace you could find- Ill pay your fare in advance, to flee as soon as you land. Very well, Sir. Its 3. 50 Credits.- The driver said; three minutes later, he descended and Ogbort jumped out like a youngster, looking upwards- there, among other fliers, but at a higher altitude, two grey Fliers were hovering over the terrace in an ominous manner. Ogbort went to the Casino and at the Roulette he stayed for one hour, betting small amounts and then he returns to the Hotel on another public flier; this time no vehicle was following him. At the shower before going to bed, Ogbort decided not to contact the remaining ghoul, no matter how hard he wants to clean his way to the Presidency. The Election Day arrives with no other candidate being liquidated. The count of votes was computerized- half an hour past the last minute to vote, the end results were given by the government: Candidate VOTES Ferdinand Christian 300.420 Dorg Fehuenche 199.824

Washoll Ogbort Ramiro Overmel Daniel Lejewn

301.000 280.030 179.980

His eyes jumped from cipher to cipher- he had won! For a minute he stayed on his armchair, breathing hard, and then he told to himself: I win the Presidency! I win, I win! In that precise moment, his cellphone rings; he accepted the incoming call and heard a voice saying: Im in the truck now, boss! Ogborts stomach turns upside down, and he said: Dont call me here! A silence, and then Rashon said: Sorry, chief! No matter, now. I win the Presidency.- Ogbort said, soothingly. Congratulations, boss! Wait for some time to see me- Ill be very busy the whole month.- Ogbort said- A silence, and then Rashun said: My pal is dead. Yes, call me later!- Ogbort said, ending the conversation. Then, everyone appears at his Hotel to congratulate him and offering their cooperation for a number of Projects. Ogborts ideal was accomplished. Now, he was going to do what was his inner and secret schedule of governing an alien race. Senator Hogwarts appears on the saloon Ogbort rented for the night- to receive his guests- and said: Two months of waiting for this triumph!A lot of organization still waits.- Said Ogbort, handshaking the important man. Youll be provided by me and my group of friends of everything its needed- dont worrywhen Synthetic fails, Natural ingenuity will come to their rescue.- Senator Hogwarts rumbled. It is good to know I have good friends!- Ogbort said, looking at the rest of the bankers and tycoons around the table at Senator Hogwartss mansion. The rest of the gathering applauded him and he stands up and said: Thanks you all, friends of the Senator Hogwarts! I will not forget your great aid in the moment of most need.- Ogbort said. We are a team!- A tycoon said and there were more applauses and speeches until dawn. Four days later, Ogbort went to the vacant lot and finds Rashon sleeping there with a three days beard. Wake up, man! Im here already!- Ogbort said to the man. Oh, Im sorry, boss! I was sleeping a bit.- Rashon said. Ogbort looked in distaste those stained clothes and said: You obey me as I said it must to be, and now I am going to pay you for the job. Rashon scratches his head and said: Sorry Im alone now, but Im able to do any job you want to give me. Im penniless. Penniless? What happens with the money you earned from me?- Ogbort asked, mildly angered. Wasted, boss! But now Ill do better! Ill invest the money.- Rashon said. Youll be the chief of my bodyguards!- Ogbort said. Me? I mean- overlord? Certainly you have guards from the Presidency- military men.Rashon replied. Dumb ox! I cant give them illegal orders!- Ogbort said. I get it, boss! You dont want trials after your term.- Rashon expressed. Go tomorrow to the Presidential palace! I will leave a word about you so they will be of help.Ogbort said. Thanks, boss.- Rashon replied. Just do what youre told and all will be fine.- Ogbort said, handling him a package with money bills. Thanks, Boss! Ill keep on trying to fulfill the order you give us.- Rashon said.

You do that.- Ogbort said, sending him away; he was sure Rashon could clear his path of challenging persons, and thats why he had him on his payroll. The problems of to be a President of a new world such as Aristarchus, were tenfold: with five major cities and several dozen towns, the trade and economic issues were always about who trades with whom and how to make more profits than the next city. Ogbort talked with every Senator and city Mayor of planet Aristarchus- soon he realize everybody expect him to satisfy their needs- much of the time, on detriment of the neighbor. The News Media was always on the chase of gossip- he couldnt make a miss in any way. After a week of heavy dealings, he take his rest on the house of the previous Presidents have for relaxation. That included women- natural and Synthetics. He enjoyed the naturals and also calls on the new Ministry of Health, Hoshon Vanror; he was a man on his sixties, and a Medic. A MISSION TO THE MINISTRY OF HEALTH. Hoshan Varor seats in front of his desk, and said: Thanks for inviting me to your beach house, Mr. President. Call me Ogbort in private. I have a serious handicap and I want you to give me advice.Ogbort said, lighting a cigar. If it is related to tobacco, nobody dies of cancer nowadays.- Doctor Hoshon Vanror said. No, my ailment is old age. Im 131 years old, and Im beginning to get tired in the afternoons.- Ogbort said, in a manner of speak. But that is perfectly normal, at your age! You should take a nap after lunch and after tea time. In that way, you will be all right for the rest of the daily hours.- Doctor Hoshon Vanror determinate. You dont understand what I want: I want a new full body. I know its a new technique, state of the art stuff- now people could live up to 3.500 years old, but in which conditions?- Ogbort asked him. Dr. Hoshon stiffened and said: Previous of this job you so generously gives me, I had performed a dozen major chirurgical operations, changing not old hearts only, but also tongs, eyes, whole stomachs and those patients are alive and well. Yes, but I want the new body- love, for instance, can be made full of energy and not full of drugs, as it is now for the too old.- Ogbort remembered it. Dr. Hoshon Vanror looked at him for a while and said: You certainly expect a lot from Medicine. I deserve it! Am I not the President? I had been researching, and I am entitled to as many operations as its needed- and free of charge! I confide in your discretion here, Minister Hoshon Vanror: it is a question of now or never for me. Dr. Hoshon Vanror rise his hands, palms up, and said theatrically: Unfortunately, Mr. President, I am not able to perform such a feat! In here, and I mean the whole of Aristarchus planet, there are not such a thing available. Ogbort already knew that, so he said: But I can import a new team capable of such a feat! Enormous in cost, but totally available. Hoshon Vanror looked at all sides and said: I am at your disposal! What do you want me to do? You could travel where those operations are being performed and offer them the job- I will provide the money.- Ogbort promised. I offer a good salary. They come and work on you. Then what? Perhaps some people will be able to pay for those operations- but I tell you they will be not many of those.- Dr. Hoshan Vanror explained. Well get advertisement to the rich people in a hundred worlds! Well offer this operation with benefits. I knew there are numerous groups of persons that are against this new kind of operations- here there is no bad or good consensus, yet! By the Media, Ill see that it gets support.- Ogbort promised.

Dr. Hoshon Vanror put his palms above Ogborts desk and said: You have all figured up, Mr. President! Right! And with you I will start this project- as by this moment, youll delegate your functions in your closest Assistant, takes a spaceship and go to search for that team: offer them all you want! I am sure they will come.- Ogbort said, smiling. There is that important detail- were to get the new bodies!- Hoshan Vanror said, ending the conversation. Two days later, Minister Hoshan Vanror, with two Assistants (both Synthetics: a Ewoman and a Eman) stepped inside the Codaluga, a small freighter cum-passenger spacecraft, on route to Enceladus, the moon of Saturn, where the best chirurgical medics of the Solar System were performing their new skills. Hoshan Vanror was seated at the mess hall for the first time in his journey. At the head of the table was seated the Captain Degreat Perkins, a big man of forty two years old. The Codaluga is in perfect shape. Soon well be heading to Brana One, where we expwect to find the Solar system in all of its glory.- Captain Degreat Perkins said, rising his glass of wine to make a toast. They all drink for that, and Gako Vorr, the first officer now rise his glass to make another toast, saying: To our Minister of Health, Hoshan Vanror here in person! Doctor Hoshan, welcome to our table. They all drink some more wine of their glasses, while Vanror said: My mission is to bring our people a very important group of medics- hope they could come here and perform their skills without hesitations! Captain Degreat Perkins coughed and said: Im sure you have a fat vermin inserted on your hook: and I mean an offer in cash that makes them hard to refuse being at Aristarchus planet! Hoshan Vanror smiled and replied: Our President Ogbort was very adamant on this: the sky is the limit to offer. Wow! Wish I could be one of those medics!- First officer Gako Vorr said, and everybody laughed. Hoshan smiled but didnt spoil Mr. Vorrs joke by saying those new medics were not of the usual kind. A lady next to the captain Degreat Perkins said: Dear doctor! Please take me out of my doubt: is is true that our President Ogbort is sick and needs a new kind of medicine? That is the cause of your present voyage? Hoshan Vanror reddened and said: Our President Ogbort is not sick and didnt need medicines! This travel Im beginning is only to search new technology for our Hospital General. Quite so.- Captain Degreat Perkins said, looking at Hoshan Vanror. As a man of action, he knew Vanror was not saying the whole truth. A couple of days later, every Natural person on board was at the cryogenic pods, sleeping for the next two months, change of Branas included. The only person awake was Captain Perkins, who was busy all the time- he distrusted machines and self impose this period of time working on shifts of eight hours a day. He had a list of missing spaceships amounting to nine hundred and three vessels never again found no matter how hard the government and the Starfleet had tried. Mechanical failure of alien intervention? Pirates? That was why he sacrificed his life span on so many spatial trips he had already donned. -Captain! Fracture on nacelle number two!- The main computers voice takes him out of his study. Send personnel to assess reparations! Seal the area if necessary!- Captain Degreat Perkins said, enraged with his bad luck- a failing nacelle means hard work and also a very low probability to achieve a good reparation work usually efficiency drops from 97% to 28%. Degreat Perkins received information: the burnt section on nacelle two fused huge elements impossibly to repair. We can use just one nacelle, Sir. Warp 0.8 could be attained for brief periods of time only. The main computer informed, after six days or repair work. So be it! Are the S.O.S. signals being issued?- Captain Perkins asked.

Everyone, Sir. We cannot expect responses until a week from now, Sir. Our distance to the Solar system is still too great.- The main computer informed him. Quite right. Any other vessel in our vicinity?- Captain Perkins asked. None that could be of help- there are eighteen big space freighters in hailing distances, but they are not managed by Natural persons, Captain. The Synthetic people aboard those spaceships had their orders not to stop for anybody.- The main computer said. Fine companions that we had.- Captain Perkins said, looking now some at some other indicators on his starboard. The calculations read: Eight years to point of arrival. Captain Perkins was sure that before a month the Codaluga would be towed along by some other Star vessel of course, it will mean a huge payment for the support. Ill be on my cryogenic pod from now, main computer. Eight years of waiting could damage my brain functions.- Captain Perkins said, walking out of the main cabin. The main computer shut close the lid of Captain Perkinss cryogenic pod and the gelid liquid enters that body transforming him in a frozen pupa. S.O.S. Spaceship Codaluga calling! One nacelle is missing. Please help.- The main computer keeps sending the message by radio, but a Solar storm shun emissions for three months; a meteorite shower appears coming from the direction of Orion and banged on the hull. All personnel at your working stations! All Hughs to the outer hull. Reparation points are needed at A44 and A45.- The main computer said by radio waves. All Synthetic personnel were busy repairing the sound of pebbles and rock on the outer hull was deafening. Master of Welders calls on the Main computer saying: The force field drops to 4%, Commander. Stop sending energy there and keep on with repairs.- The main computer said. Huge rocks damaged the super radio antenna and normal radio operations, Commander. Your messages are not operant.- Master of Welders communicated him. Understood, it matches the data Im receiving from the sensors. Sending radio transmitter missiles in the general direction of the solar system.- The Main Computer informed to his minions. One Hugh is missing, Commander. A rock took him away.- Chief of the Outer Hull operations AR 935 said by radio. A pity. Sending Rescue Void Craft after him. Inform, RVC!- The MC asked of it. RVC calling. Object Hugh at 30 kilometers and speeding: at 300 kilometers per hour now. Can you reach him before we move, away of your operational range?- The MC asked. Just four minutes for the whole operational procedures, Commander.- The RVC calls back. If you are in doubt, return at once. No doubts, Commander. All calculations rendered positive.- The RVC replied. Damage on the first nacelle, Commander: 70% of it smashed by three meteorites.- The Chief of the Outer Hull informed. Nacelle One non operational.- AB 838 said from his seat at the main cabin. Cut all energy to the Nacelle One.- The Main Computer said, sensing now a terrible radiation surge. Pod Section Supervisor here, Commander. I recommend the immediate withdrawal of Carbon Units from the spaceship Codaluga. Radiation for them is lethal. Moving Pods to Security.- The Main computer said; from there (a cube of lead) the pods were storage on a shuttle craft and sent out and away of the doomed space freighter. Good bye, Captain Perkins! It was an honor to serve under your command.- The Main Computer said, as a token to the Captain Degreat Perkins. Seconds later, a huge rock smashed head on unto the freighter, broking it in several pieces- the several Hugh and four Synthetic persons type AB were hurled around and away. The Main computer still working, collected all data still available and copy it on a chip that was sent out of the remains on a small missile of communications. The shuttle craft with the human survivors reads the sky, locating the nearest object: Asteroid AJ-1944, circling at the Oort cloud, and speeded in that direction.

The encounter with the Balos Two weeks later, the Shuttle spacecraft circled the asteroid to find out which part was best to land without crack the hull in two. While it was circling it, a spaceship from the Balos sounds the red alarm throughout the whole Armidia Class Spaceship from the Balos Kingdom. LOX 34 was at the controls, and after rising what were saying about the long range radar and the weapons military scanning, calls on Lord Uraash at the main tank of command, saying: "Object in our path, My Lord.!" - Captor beam!"- ordered Lord Uraash said, rising two tentacles up The big vessel beamed the object, capturing it with a captor beam. - Analyze!"- Lord Uraash ordered. - A casket of plastic; dormant beings in the inside, My Lord!"- LOX34 said. - Species?" - Human." - Ah! The incoming beasts, again! Send one of them into the Lab using the Transporter! Search the stars with the long range Radar! Could be more."- Lord Uraash ordered. Soon it was plain to see there were no other lifesaver spacecraft lurking around, so LOX 34 said:"- The species must be in dry atmosphere, My Lord! What do you want to do with the one we transported here?" - Analyze!"- Lord Uraash replied, and with the body in a dry tank, he begun to work with the medical apparatus on board; soon he was obtaining results; a hand moved. - Good !"- LOX 34 sighed, almost incredulity. - Nice body, this! Easy to repair- hard to deal with, when awoke!"- The medic Biron93 expounded briefly. The Biron93 skill abilities were at stake, soon the human was breathing normally again! - What caused the deaths of the specimens, Biron93?"- LOX 34 asked, eyes glued to the crystal panel. - Seems to me they were frozen to death- those humans! Guess they have too much curiosity inside their skulls! And little know-how, of course!"- Biron 93 said, adding: Are you going to return him to the craft where they were expelled?" - Should be a good joke on him! Probably he became choked the rest of his life! But their future depends now on the whim of our commander."- L0X 34 said, spurting some ink on the tank... A sonar alarm was heard, and the voice of Lord Uraash said: What is wrong with the humans now? I have no news from them, LOX 34! Inform me. The spaceship seems to be a Life saver type made by these humans. The humans were in cryogenic pods, and Doctor Biron 93 is working on one of them.- LOX 34 said. What for? Did I give you some orders to do so?- Lord Uraash asked him, disentangling a pair of tentacles from First Lieutenant A20A, and said: No need to worry about those procedures! These critters are hard to kill. Possibly, my Lord, perhaps we could visit the spacecraft?- LOX 34 asked politely. Lord Uraash moved his sexual tentacle a bit more on the correct orifice and said: Do it. If your crew is in any danger, use the disintegrator on the aliens. First lieutenant A20A moaned and Lord Uraash said: And dont call me again! Im busy. And the communication was over. LOX 34 looked at the Lords tank for a while, and then he said by the intercom: Chief of the Guard! Send your scouts to investigate the wreck! The Chief of Guards, a black fat Balos creature, puffed and pressed some keys on his console, and six Balos went inside the spatial walking armor suit and departed outside to the void, walking easily to the standing Life saver shuttle craft. The cold of space frosted the helmets instantly, making vision impossibly- so they shift to sonar- a screen shows every detail in front of their helmets.

The shuttle had nine meters long and 3.50 meters wide, with an eight of 200 centimeters. The shape was very primitive: a box was what better define its figure. How very primitive!- Woran 03 said from the inside of his armor suit. Theres the door! Well have to work with care- not to let the air leave the interior.- Xariano 4 said, and using a fine drill, they inset a camera inside. There was air and they saw the hermetic pods with the dormant humans inside. They are survivors from a bigger spaceship, no doubt! If we just open the door lock, possibly the electronic circuit could get damaged.- Woran 03 speculate. We have not much time to waste! Lets pick the whole shuttle inside our Cruiser and work in there.- XOR4 said. At the main vessel, LOX 34 accepted the procedure and soon the Life saver shuttle was inside the Baloss cruiser. Days later, Lord Uraash decided the future of the castaways by saying: They are eight males only- no woman among them. My idea is to return them to their civilization. As you command, My Lord.- LOX 34 said. But not here at this most populated area! We dont want them to know we are roaming their national space environs again!- First officer A20A said. The lady is right. Lets find a quieter spot to let them free.- Lord Uraash said, to please the she-Balo. Brana 2 could be better- as we are going there, well dump them without much ado.- Miss A20A said. Lord Uraash caressed her main legs, with a lascivious tentacle, and she puffed out some eggs, that floated to a corner. THE GOVERNMENT IN ACTION. Sarkofo, architect, builder of textile factories President Ogbort: we are in need to build a huge industry here on the city of Apollo. As you see, 460 m2 of extension with 30 floors high.- Sarkofo the architect said to the President. A textile industry could be fine. Everyone needs better clothing.- Ogbort said. Correct! We need an authorization, but we had found several municipal hindrances along the way. One of the most important issues is the pollution, but I assure you that our building will minimize the toxic aerial pollution to inoffensive percentage.- Sarkofo said. I will issue a project- must be accepted by the Senators. If they refuse, I guess a Decree should be issued- pitifully, I cannot issue too many Decrees, or they will say I want to become a Dictator.- Ogbort said. Of course, Mr. President. But we could begin with a small factory- I am sure you could find a way to build it as a test- several other small factories could be built in the same way, perhaps in different cities. Nobody will pay much notice to it.- Sarkofo said. Really! I will study it with my Assistants. Come here to morrow and well talk some more.Ogbort said, standing up from his desk. Sarkofo bowed and departed out. Ogbort presents the project to his loyal Senators- just four of the thirty of them- saying: We indeed need to industrialize our cities a bit more. With Mr. Sarkofo the Architect- the one who built the twin bridges on the city of Resnik, we had thought about textile factories- clothes to the people! At cheap prices, to the poorest section of our people. Senator Sixnofer said: Very loable idea, Mr. President- pity our society already had textile industries, people who will complain bitterly of the competition you could excert on them by selling cheaper products with the money of us all. Senator Heigh said: Certainly they will be complaints, but perhaps we could apeaced them by reducing certain taxes- I am sure they will applauded a reduction on taxes. Dont forget our revenues are small! Reduction on taxes means a weaker government- our Army Forces are working with a thin budget you can see through it.- Toxel Ferrgossen said, pulling his moustache a bit. Senator Jingogor coughed and said: We are here to help our President come up with his ideashis ideas must prevail over the adversary! Certainly many people will applauded your project,

Mr. President! I am sure I can reunite a thousand of them in front of the Presidential Palace, also in front of our Senate, to exert influence. Yes, we dont forget how you could influence people!- Toxed Ferrgosen said, remembering when Jongogor prevents one of his pet projects been banned through pressure by the populace. Mr Sarkofos idea is very simple: to build a series of small factories on our cities- they will pass almost unnoticed- and then we begin selling. The revenues goes to the Administration- the same that will provide the funds- so well recover the money as soon as the factories begin to sell its products.- Ogbort said. Wonderful idea! A covert project? Soon somebody will talk, and your Presidency will be at stake, Mr. Ogbort!- Senator Heigh said. Well, Im here to tell you my ideas. Now you must help me with yours.- Ogbort said, smiling cunningly. For my part, Im with the idea of to present the project to the Senate- the idea of cheap clothes for poor people seems a rather good one. No need to go under cover.- Mr. Toxed Ferrgosen said. Very well, Ill present my project to the Senate. How do you think the rest of the Senators will react?- Ogbort asked them. I think any idea will be well received- now that they accepted it, its another matter.- Senator Ferrgosen said. I guess we could embellish the project with some lateral adornments- like a small reduction on taxes for the rest of the Textile industries, and perhaps also we could sell to retailers with a good discount.- Senator Sixnofer said. Ill be receiving your memorandums, Gentlemen- you have a week to come up with ideas. Then well present the project- I am thinking you could take the merit of it- presenting the project as coming from you.- Ogbort said. No, no, Mr. President! You must act for yourself! Well back you up, of course.- Toxed Ferrgosen said, perspiring before the idea of a lot of textile syndicates could begin fighting him in the next elections. So, the project was presented two weeks later, but to not avail- there was a lot of talking and piercing the project to shreds- at the end, Ogbort retires the project from the Senate and called on Mr. Sarkofo, saying: We were beaten- no authorization for small textile industries. A pity, of course, Mr. President! I was able to follow the conversations on the senate, and they were rejecting the idea from the beginning.- Sarkofo said, very pale. They talk about pollution! But I assure you that our buildings would have minimized the toxic aerial pollution to inoffensive percentages.- Ogbort said. With three thousand Synthetic workers the exportation for goods would had permitted to dress our population without depending so much from external importation.- Sarkofo said. I see. And what do you think we could do; now the Senate close the door on my project?Ogbort asked him. A decree, stating we dont pollute the air; and also a permission to buy fiscal land.- Sarkofo said. Land owned by the state.- Ogbort murmured. Yes, Mr. President! I assure you we are prompt to aid with money where you could suggest, once the factories begin selling products.- Sarkofo said. Ogbort rubbed his chin, and said: We must raise the necessary funds to this project. Figures? Eighty million Credits, Mr. President. In several installments, of course- no need, at first, to have all the money in cash. Also you could ask for credits- I am sure the Banks will not negate your request- you are the President, and you could do them a lot of harm, if you want.Architect Sarkofo said, with a glint in his eyes. Why so?= Ogbort asked. Because you could begin funding your product on lender money! Several Banks lending money to your project- I can show them the blueprints- in the worst of cases, they will take the buildings for themselves and later they will recover some of the money by selling them. This is, in the worst of scenarios.- Sarkofo said.

I am sure we are going to have huge earnings, perhaps not in the first year, but in the long run well be succeeding.- Ogbort said, sensing his mind was very optimistic in relation to his project. I have the blueprints already donned- the same blueprints for them all- they will look all alike.- Sarkofo said, showing him the blueprints using a holographic viewer. I have no objections! Ill begin asking for the money.- Ogbort said. Mr. Sarkofo coughed and said: Of course, Mr. President, you could also ask for donations. I am sure the Bankers will react in a good form- perhaps you could raise enough money to build the first of our textile factory! Certainly true. Ill begin today.- Ogbort said, and went to the Credit Bank of Aristarchus, the biggest of them all, and asked to talk with the General Manager. He was a fat small guy, with keen eyes and a dark suit; he receives him on his big mahogany office, and after the first amenities, Ogbort said: I am here to ask for a donation, Mr. Gariondo. As you know, we have a lot of poor people on our towns, many of them scanty clothed. So I was thinking the other day, how about to have several small factories, where clothes could be made for cheap? And to sell the clothes with almost no gain- just to help those poor guys on the street.Gariondo opened wide his green eyes, and said: Very honorable thought, Mr. President! Also, a very philanthropic way of thinking. We are here to make a profit, you know- but we could talk about this. What do you wish we could do for you, in this respect? A donation! With a donation, we could begin buying the first bricks of our small factory- then, in the future, with the earnings of this small factory, we could think into build another one, and then another. But for starts, we must beg money from the big enterprises that could waste a little of their incomes helping the poor.- Ogbort said. General Manager Gariondo smiled, thinking that the President in exercise was a very idealistic twerp; of course, he couldnt say so to the President Ogbort, so he said: Ill talk with the shareholders, of course; I am the mere administrator of this Bank, with no authorization to give donations in a hurry. Please a little patience! Our next meeting will be held in five days more- I am sure you could wait five days? I can wait five months! But as you know, this present job I have will not last more than six years- so I must get hurry trying to do things in this period of time.- Ogbort said. I understand you, Mr. President! I am sure the shareholders will come up with a generous donation for your Project!- General Manager Gariondo said, standing up from his armchair; Ogbort did the same, and departed wishing good will to the Banker. He repeats the same procedure with the seven biggest Banks in town- to the smaller ones, he sent his Ministry of Finances, Mr. Ramickel Ratonfor. In all, he obtained 80.390 Credits. Ogbort seats at his desk, thinking- the Bankers really laughed on him, and the 80.390 Credits of course were a lot of money, but nothing comparing with the necessary amount he needs. And they knew it. He call Mr. Sarkofo, via telex conference- the guy was in pajamas, so Ogbort realize the hour was not too appropriate- 03.20 in the morning. Sorry, Mr. Sarkofo! But perhaps you could want it to know how many the Bankers gives for our Project.- Ogbort said; he was looking at Sarkofos face, and he realize the man was hoping the solution was at hand Yes, Mr. President? Did they give enough money to begin with?- Sarkofo replied. 80.930 Credits- that are what they give.- Ogbort communicated him. Well, that is a surprise to hear.- Sarkofo said, feeling his feet were transformed to a couple of ice cubes. 80.930 Credits in all! So I guess they just dont care about my project, and also they are not worried if I take it nicely or not.- Ogbort said. I am sure they dont give a damn, so to speak.- Sarkofo said. Well, Ill try with some other people- but these Bankers really earned my enmity.- Ogbort said, ending the communication. Sarkofo sighed, and return to sleep.

Ogbort tried with Supermarkets; their owners were very interesting people, and also very worried about the sanitary conditions of their buildings- so Ogbort issued several ordnances and they were very troubled with the customers- one complaint about filthy products, and bingo, they could see how the Ministry of Health closured their buildings until the Inspectors returns for another revision- some times a week later. They ask for a meeting with the President, and Ogbort said, after listening to their complaints: I am sure I could be of help- to fasten procedures! But I need some incentives- you know I have some projects today still on the start line just because some coins are left. If you contribute to my projects, donating money, I am sure I could devise some method to help you in your troubles. The owners of those Supermarkets understand very well what Ogbort was asking: a bribe. They offered money, but not the big amount Ogbort was needing, so he said: Perhaps you dont understand me! I need millions, not hundred of Credits! Perhaps you could raise your donations a bit. But dont answer me now! Go and think it over. And he signaled them to get out of his office with a wave of his outstretched hand. Later, they return with an offer: Mr. Hofainer, the spokesperson, said: Mr. President, we are prompt to offer you certain amount of shares pertaining to our Companies- instead of a donation. Ogbort removed his chair, while saying: I can explain donations, but how could I explain shares I hadnt pay? I cannot appear buying shares without a personal income that justify it. Mr. Hofainer looked at him mighty surprised and said: But who could ask you such a thing? You are at the top of the list! I am the President now, but in ten years elapsed time, another man will take my charge and Ill be a common citizen! Then they will rain charges on me! A silence issued, and then Mr. Hofainer said: Very well, Mr. President, it will be a donation. Please designed some person of your staff to study with our lawyers how this transaction could be performed, or have you already some philanthropic institution where we could deposit our money? Unfortunately not yet! But Ill create one in a hurry! I guess that in a week I will be able to receive your deposit.- Ogbort said. Our lawyers will take care of that, Mr. President! We can create such an Institution for you: which one you like to preside: an orphanage, a house for old timers, an ecologist institution? There are dozen of legal procedures available.- Mr. Hofainer said. I think we could begin opening an orphanage. Too many children on the streets of our cities had been always be my major preoccupation.- Ogbort lied. You have a good heart, Mr. President. Our installments will go to that Institution, then. Any name for it?- Mr. Hofainer asked. Any name for what?- Ogbort asked him. A name for your Institution, of course. - Hofainer asked again. Oh, yes, Lets call it Ogbort House of Rest, so they all could guess whos the one helping people.- Ogbort said. The investors and their lawyers stayed there talking with Ogborts Assistants until they developed a way to begin with the project. Ogbort went to his drawer and begin drawing sketches for his future philanthropic institution; he wants to let the people of Aristarchus knew he was a honest and dedicated President- and this new Project will be of help. Six months later, and bored to wait for his Minister of Health (Mr. Hosham). This time he appointed a Synthetic person, AB 63241 (Efemale) who had several degrees of expertise in Medicine. I appoint you my new Minister, AB 63241- also, my personal doctor. Glad to be of service.- She said, seriously. Ill give you the feedback necessary to learn which mission I give the precedent Minister of Health, Dr. Hosham. When finishing reading, please give me your advice.- Ogbort said, handling her memory pill.

She insert it on his tongue and two seconds later she returns it to Ogbort, saying: My advice is to begin again, Mr. President: obviously you know what happens with his spaceship? Missing. Missing while on a meteorite storm. Probably dead by now, Sir. Do you give his family some reward- a compensation?- AB 63241 asked him. No that I know of.- Ogbort said, realizing that with all probability some kind of payment those people should already have received. I receive the information, Mr. President. The pension is half his former salary.- AB 63241 said, and shows him photographs of them by opening her palm where a holographic device shows documents stating the real amount of money the presumed widow was receiving. A fine woman. Call her to my office for tomorrow at 15.15 hours.- Ogbort said, and went to the dinning room, where thirty guests were waiting for his appearance. Good afternoon, gentlemen! Hope our meals could produce in us the necessary strength!Ogbort recited the traditional Aristarchus phrase before lunch. Matog Dallez, the fat owner of a mine, said: In my way to here, I saw several Vulcan spaceships descending on Space Port, Sir. Is it some protocol visit, perchance?- And his cunning green eyes were studying Ogborts face. Non whatever! Until this minute, I was lacking any indication at the respect. I will ask my Minister of Foreign Relations- Ogbort said, using his cellphone to communicate. AB 0306 heard the request and said: They come here to buy beryllium, Sir. A big amount. No official governmental authorities from Vulcan in this visit, Mr. Dallez.- Ogbort said to his guest. Well, they are ignoring our small planet from the beginning. Its a race of egotists.- Mr. Matog Dallez said, beginning to eat. Vulcans didnt export a thing! They are a frugal race- also scant in numbers.- Ogarion Fenelor said, from the other side of the table- he was the Minister of Agriculture. Yes, they still hide several secret technical advances from the rest of the sentient beings.Marifoldo Torrens said, looking at the President- he was the sole owner of the Holographic Media Services in the planet. I can understand them of course- remember the Romulan, that split from their midst, threatening Vulcan in the epoch of their expansion. I am asking for donations, gentlemen. I am working in a new project: textile factories working for the people; their boss is the State. Cheap clothes for the people! I know the people will love me for this; also, they will love the people who backed up this scheme.- Ogbort said. Matog Dallez said: We are here because we believe in you, Mr. President. We will backed up any project you could device. Mr. Ogarion Fenelor added: But, as we live from our sales, we also need some leverage, help from above! Ogbort said: Any of you that donates money for my project, will open my hears to any suggestion he wants to make. If its in my power, youll get what you asked for. Marifoldo Torrens said: I am sure that we are going to step out of this room as good friends, if your saying is true! Max Marin (owner of a fleet of Flier taxis) said: We could begin with one of my pet project: a intercontinental airline that will communicate our continents in a daily basis. But we have that already.- Ogbort objected. Not in the measure I will propose: two round trips a day!- Mr. Max Marin replied. I see no problems to that.- Ogbort said, looking at the rest; Matog Dallez said: Perhaps you dont know, Mr. President, that the actual line had the monopoly to carry passengers to the rest of the continents. They have big old airships capable of to carry 300 passengers in each flight! Sounds a good number.- Ogbort said. Do you believe that? Bear in mind there are much more people willing to travel, but the scant machines the Wings Air Company had, forced the system to do long lists of passengers in queue, you must pay first to be in those list- then wait until you are called- possibly weeks later.- Goborgo Gugubondo said, moving his moustache in a funny way. I dislike monopolies, especially when I am not in the Directory.- Ogbort confessed.

You can modify it! Just and simply announce that their Contract is ended; then you backed up our project. We all contribute to the realization of this new aerial company: even you are going to be in the Directory.- Matog Dallez said. I must refuse! I cannot receive shares for nothing, especially when I am the President of the nation!- Ogbort said. Who said so? Dont you know that the previous President, Madame Chellet, received donations for the hundred of million Credits? And is she indicted or accused of it? Nothing of the sort! There are many people that loves her, no matter how many embezzlement are being unearthed day in and day out!- Harry Welfornt (medicinal drug factory owner) said. Ogbort scratched his head- certainly, more than one dark story he had heard about the precedent President, but he was not particularly interested in to know really what happened before him. Now he was seeing it was necessary to open an investigation- for very profitable reasons. He said: Well, if you say its possibly, Im in. One more question, Mr. President. Tell me? Could we call you by your first name? Calling you Mr. President is rather cold- Impersonal, I should say.- Max Marin asked. Of course, and Ill call you back in the same way! But not in public.- Ogbort said, smiling faintly. In due time, each one of the tycoons gives 20 million Credits, while Ogbort sign a decree stating the Aerial Company Sebastian Airlines was authorized to make any number of flight as the people requires, and also permitting the use of fiscal property such as airfields and vacant lots. The revenues for the Sebastian Airlines amount to eighty three million Credits in the first year; three million Credits were delivered to Ogbort, who was very happy to have so generous friends. Five months later, the fist Textile factory was ready to work; Ogbort made a big fuzz out of the inauguration, where he said by the Holo-news: This factory is opening a new era of commerce: the one that will help people to buy cheap and obtain good quality products! In due time, revenues were better than suspected and the next factory was built a year and a half later, without asking for donations. Ogbort and his friends keeps on working for themselves using the Government for their purposes; the arrival of new technology and lots of colonists makes the difference between a passive citizenship and a hard boiled opposition. Five years was Ogbort the President of Aristarchus without any problem at all; then his troubles begin: several accusations were made against his administration, being the most talked the Textile factories, made without any authorization from the Senate, that ultimately ask his resignation. Its the best for our world that you resign to your post.- Senator Hogwarts said; he was at Ogborts office together with another three politicians. I will never give up! My term will be due in another five years! I have the people with me! Thousands of persons that I had helped in this five years! They own me their easy kind of life!Ogbort growled. The military will not help you in this!- Senator Rovontes said. Im not leaning on the Army Forces! I lean on the mandate of the people, that chooses me!Ogbort yelled back. We had warned you, Mr. President! The Senate had spoken to you for the last time.- Senator Hogwarts said, departing out of the Presidential office with the rest of the politicians. Ogbort calls on his closest friends to a Holographic Conference, and he said to them: The Senate wants me out; some people wants me out: do you want me out of my Presidency?- And his voice sounds as it was going to crack. Matog Dallez said: We are a team, Ogbort! Nobody of us wants you out! Thats good that feels fine! To have friends who are with me in the good times as in the bad times! Tell me what to do- I already said I will not quit! I still have five years for the end of my term.- Ogbort said. Certainly you had not finished your term, Ogbort!- Gogoborgo Gugubongo said.

Thats right! In another five years we are going to be still more richer! All our projects are working fine.- Ogbort moaned. He had the bug of greed already on his system. We are with you, Ogbort; but think a little more: the Senate declares you unfit for your job. What that mean legally speaking? That you are no longer the President- for them!- Matog Dallez said. But I still have five years to go!- Ogbort repeated. Not anymore for them! You sent projects to the Senate- they will ignore them. The government is not only about you, Ogbort! Its about a President and the Senate!- Dallez explained. Then Ill declare them all as traitors and I will put some other persons in their posts.- Ogbort said. You cannot appoint another Senators, Ogbort! They are chosen by the people in elections day! The same people that elected you.- Harry Wellforth said. Only two years previously- that means their terms ends in three more years!- Ogarion Fenelor calculates. I cant wait three years with a opposing Senate conspiring against me every day!- Ogbort yelled. Then call for the Army! The Army Forces will back up on you.- Matog Dallez said. Ogbort was not so sure about the Army- he had never been too close to those people who despised politicians: they were always saying they were for the protection of the planet against alien threats- not to mingle in political debates. The reunion with his friends ends without any result- he went to his bed with his troubles gnawing his brain. At the next morning, he awoke and saw the beautiful AB 63241 next to him, pretending to sleep- he didnt recall having summoned to his chamber, but now that she was there, he takes advantage, and caressed that beautiful body with delight; she opened her green eyes, saying: Oh, good morning, Ogbort! Last night I sensed you were upset, so I come here to accompany you. Very clever girl.- He said, kissing her lips; she embrace him and said: Guess we will be late for your duties today! Yes, we are going to be delayed.- He said, smiling while aspiring her sweet aroma. Later, they take a shower and he said: I dont know if you knew about the ultimatum the Senate sent me. Yes, I know all about that, Ogbort- your business ends your career as President- or so they said.- AB 63241 murmured in his ear. I cannot loose my job! Its the best I had in my life! Now there are five years more or not?Ogbort asked, knowing that she had all the Constitution papers in her memory. The Senate gives the laws to the people and approves or disapproves your indications for the welfare of the nation- here we are seeing that they study your case, finds a lot of illegal affairs authorized under your sign, meaning you was robbing and stealing the country of its money- or making money against the law. Now, a President with those characteristics cannot rule the country- he must go.- AB 63241 said. Well, I see at which side are you!- Ogbort said, enraging himself against the beautiful woman. I am not against you! I am telling you the facts! Now you have options: you declare those accusations are false, the evidence is forfeited, and you are as clean as a whistle. Can you do that?- AB 63241 asked him. Well, I can try.- He said, while in doubt. You cannot throw away all the accusations, Ogbort! You better resign and look for a good lawyer- better, a whole handful of them. Possibly youll loose some of your unlawful earningsbut not all of them.- AB 63241 explained. Ogbort was feeling himself like a rat being chased by a dozen cats; he said: Guess I can take as much money as I could, and depart as far as I could. Is that it? Yes, but how do you transform your buildings and stuff in money? That takes time- and you have very little time before the Senate calls on the Police to take you into custody.- AB 63241 said. Can they do that? - Ogbort asked, without much air in his lungs.

Yes they can! And get you into jail until the whole of your twisted enterprises become known to the people.- AB 63241 smiled to him. Guess Ill prepare my exit! Are you going with me until the end?- Ogbort asked her. Im your Minister of Health! I can go with you everywhere as long as you want me.- AB 63241 said. Really? Well, ask for a fast spaceship, cash all my money, sell my properties for as much quantity you could get, and well be going far and away. A pity, because I had five years to go as President.- Ogbort said. I cannot repeat you are already out of your post, Ogbort! Accept it.- AB 63241 said, going out of the bedroom to work on his orders. Ogbort puts on new clothes, and sighed. He had been very happy deciding things, helping people out of their troubles, and now he was forced to run or be captured. By the Holographic Systems, he talked to the people, saying the Senate was against him and his help to the populace; he asks understanding when the Senate accused him of robbery- his Textile factories were giving help to the people by giving them a work to do and wages to collect. Other enterprises that he had made ends in the same result: work for the people and wages to collect. He summoned the citizens for a giant meeting to be celebrated four days in the future- he was sure more than a million people will attend, to save his Presidency from the attacks of the Senate. After the emission of that speech, people begin to stir and talk in favor of his administration, or against- at day three after Ogborts appearance, the end result was still dubious- but one thing was certain: Ogbort has enemies as well as friends among the populace. The day of the meeting, not 10.000 persons were present; Ogbort gives another speech, repeating his words and also telling them that he was now adamant in the elimination of the Senate. This provokes a big upsurge; people went to the streets, fighting each others and beginning riots and fires; the police was not enough, and the Army begin patrolling the major cities; soon the civil war begin. Ogbort call his friends to another meeting, and seated at the same table, but with a different atmosphere floating above them, he said: Friends! I had continued in the possession of my position of President; people is defending me, and I am sure the Army forces will stay apart of this struggle. Max Marin said: You had been selling your shares, Mr. President! Now our shares cost half the money then before you begin selling! People distrust us and we are loosing money! Well, I am sure that after this war we will have more options to begin enterprises than we have now! This will pass, and well laugh on the problems of today.- Ogbort said. Are you sure of what you are saying, Ogbort? There are rumors that the Navy will fight against you!- Goborgo said. The Navy will not fight against me or in my favor! They had told us a dozen times that they are not going to shoot against their own people.- Ogbort said. There are many rioters that are roaming the streets, making a hard thing to commerce! Shops are closed, their owner afraid of the mob.- Harry Wellforth said. Pity for them! But soon all will get back to normal- people are not fighters, really- this will ends as soon as it starts.- Ogbort said, seated on his armchair with a glass of wine in his right hand. You are so sure! Hope we could be likewise.- Matog Dallez said, looking worried. Two days later, the killings begin; people fighting each other on the corners of the great cities, using banners and soon the radios and Holographic companies begin taking sides. General Keribe appears at the Ogborts office, saying: You get to stop this, Mr. President! We cannot afford a civil war- there are certain groups on the military service that thinks they could take sides- do you realize how serious this is for us all? Keribe was tall and with smiling lines in his face- but now he was far from being smiling. Really, is not of my business! I am the President, and I am looking at a Senate that is against the Republic! I wonder how some other person, in my case, would do other way.- Ogbort said.

We are professionals and dont take sides, but somebody in the line of command could think different and youll be looking like the stubborn person that refuses to do what was necessary.General Keribe said- he was with three other members of his staff. And what do you think I should do, General?- Ogbort asked him. Quit! Renounce to your post! And the Senate will call for new elections- soon another President will be in your site- and in peace!- General Keribe said. I will not quit! Death they are going to take me out of office!- Ogbort said, enraged. Dont say I didnt tell you what was coming your way! Good day, Mr. President!- General Keribe said, and departed. Good day.- Ogbort said, while he was punching on his cellphone. Martin here.- A voice answer his call. The apple is ripe!- Ogbort said- and it was (obviously) a password, as the other person in the line just hangs up. There!- Obgort said, relaxing on his char. Five hours later, all the members of the Senate were on a spaceship to Earth- under close vigilance by several soldiers. Ogbort spoke by the Holographic machines that night, on the news; he said Citizens of the world! I, your legal President Ogbort, take some measures not to transform our cities in battlegrounds- as you already knew; the Senate was dispossessing me of my legal position: Your President. Now, the members of the Senate are traveling out of our Planetary System to ostracism- they are out of the law- but instead of to shoot them under the charge of conspirator, I use this other more humane- if silly- way of punish this people. They will live the rest of their lives in peace but not in our midst. To every person that confide in them and believe their lies I tell this: dont provoke any more mishaps or they are going to follow their leaders to exile. Exile for them! We want peace, we want to work and be happy with the fruits of our efforts! To commemorate this event, I declare two days of holydays and a bonus of 150 Credits to every man and women, young or old people of our planet. Good evening, citizens! And the message was repeated at intervals of three hours each. The people looks at his message with glee, as they were earning time for themselves and money to buy whatever their fancy. Ogbort called at the officers in command of the Army Forces, and said: I finished the riots and struggle for power- here we had just only one General in Chief and its me. Before you left this office, you are going to be decommissioned- your posts at the Army are ended. Ogbort was with seven heavily armed men, who looked on the officers with a glint of malice on their eyes- they realize they were forced to obey- or die. But you cannot do this to us! We had been as professionals as we could have been! - General Keribe said, blushing as red as he could be. Yes, professionals who saw that the riots were escalating on our cities and you just seat over your hands! Now you can do exactly that, and with full pays- I dont want to hear I am being mean with you.- Ogbort said. More than one of them wished to be out of the office to call their men to arms and attack this President who was treating them as garbage. But they could not do such a thing, as they were shipped to an island and remained there in exile for a time- their families also were carried there, in a later time, having all the necessary in life provided by the State. Ogbort revised the law and make laws of his own- by his sole signature, as the Senate was not opened nor the people was asked to vote for candidates. Some sections of the people begin wondered if Ogbort was a tyrant or not. The generals were Synthetic people, loyal to the President by his own orders You are very clever.- The Secretary #39 said, while taking a shower- she was a Natural. Oh, yeah! Its easy to be clever with the help of so many people.- Ogbort said, from the bedhe was smoking and the blue figures spindle to the ceiling, where a slow in-take of air was in motion. People or E-people?- Mariraila asked, receiving the perfumed warm water all over her beautiful body. Both, of course. E-people is the summing up of the knowledge you want to bequeath on it, while normal people could be a lot more ignorant in some themes, but has the gift of to create-

to take rabbits from the hat, so to speak.- Ogbort said, looking at his toes- he dislike his toes, so he hidden them under the sheets. We live for ever.- Mariraila said from the bathroom. Yes, we live for ever in a way.- Ogbort smiled from the bed. I think we are in the mind of a powerful god- he is going to reshape us in Heaven.- Mariraila said. Yeah, and dogs are hatched from eggs.- Ogbort laughed. Dont you know physics? They say something was discovered there, long time ago- I dont remember which is the theory, but it exists.- Mariraila said. We can ask.- Ogbort said, and summoned another Secretary by pushing a button. A lady in pink gown appears, saying: Im available for you at this moment, Sir: Im Secretary # 30. Perfect. We are discussing about eternal life in humans.- Ogbort said. And do you know how are this going to happen?- Mariraila asked, peeking from the bathroom. Yes, I know the basics. There is certain structural rules as to what can occur in life after death (LAD). If we think that LAD is basically a re-visitation of Earthly life, then the first thing we deduce is that it cannot be possible for you to return to Earth at a date later your date of death. The reason for this is simple; it would be possible for you to meet someone who had attended your funeral or read your obituary and knew that you were already dead. Oh, then its a kind of tale?- Mariraila asked, thinking that his idea of a god almighty was better than this theory the Secretary #30 was talking about. Tell us some more.- Ogbort said, looking at the E-woman. The first structural rule must be that you can never observe a calendar day which postdates the date of your death. Likewise, you apparently cannot meet people who are already dead in Heaven at a date later than the date of their death either, because other people still alive would likewise notice them also. This it would appear is not a great problem. In the first place we expect that LAD will largely be a biographical life review, it will take place in the past. Visions from your childhood your adolescence, middleage. All of this occurred long before your death. Oh, it will be very nice to see my aunt Mary! She was something.- Ogbort said, remembering the perfume the lady used, the kind of laugh she gives, and the aura of a god she had on others. The Secretary #30 said: So you only see dead people by returning to an earlier date when both you and they, were both alive! Most of the people you see in that kind of life will probably still be alive on Earth, however, you will not see them after the date of your death. I understand that.- Mariraila laughed, going out of the bath with a towel around her body. You will be revisiting situations and revisiting scenes but not a new body appearance wise. You will be transformed but your appearance will not change.- Secretary #30 said. O.K., if Im fat and ugly, thats the way I will look.- Ogbort said, mildly disappointed- he would had preferred to look young and powerful- an athlete. There will be some hindrances, by example, if you revisit an old scene and with your newfound powers act differently, this would alter the entire history of your life.- Secretary #30 said. Wait a minute! If I begin changing things, the rest will be blurred! Never happened! Or this new life will mean a kind of Alice in Wonderland?- Ogbort said, mildly terrified before that idea.

Not possibly to live remakes of your life, Sir! You will be in LAD, simply revisit the old scenes but see them with new eyes... and this ever-increasing new perception of your past life builds finally to a level of complete Beatific Vision at the end of your life history. In other words you revisit your entire past life with an "invisible" transformed spirit but wearing your old body appearance-wise in the various scenarios. Apparently, you don't do anything differently that would alter the recorded biography of your life. Well, that will be better than just disappear.- Ogbort said, thinking that to be reading the same book will be better than just take a nap a million years. There may be additional scenarios that are not part of a conventional biographical life review in which you may take different actions and do or accomplish additional things without logically upsetting your world history. Naturally if you have a Beatified body you would certainly want to run and jump and water-ski and drive a sports car at 150 miles an hour and experience all the pleasures of a perfect body. There is certainly no reason why you couldn't do this without altering the course of world history or your own recorded biography. Consider for a moment how complex an ordinary nocturnal dream is, and yet while you're experiencing the dream nothing seems logically impossible. We must assume that the same power is at work in LAD if it exists.- Secretary #30 said. Terrific.- Ogbort said. Then I will be the new Miss Universe- several years in a row.- Mariraila said, laughing while she combed her hair. And it exists that it is a revisit with full bodily senses of our everyday worldly environment.... but of course this environment is actually what we call a "virtual reality".... even though it looks exactly like the environs we just left! So you, Naturals, had a DOUBLE BODY! The neuronal system of the brain is the first body and the microtubule system of the brain constitutes a SECOND BODY! Secretary #30 said. It fits.- Ogbort said, yawning while looking how Mariraila combed her blonde hair. Naturals have two bodies and experience two lives before they finally expire permanently. In the Microtubule-Body you achieve the Beatific vision which by definition is a condition of "eternal life" because it has ZERO TIME DILATION.- Secretary #30 said; Mariraila dropped the towel, provoking a cough on the President- it was a naked statue, with a slim waist and developed breasts and hips- long legs and pink feet. She takes her bra and puts it on; then the tiny cola-less and went to the closet- a dozen poly-colored dresses were shown in there- she said: Violet, and the dresses turns violet color in various shades. She chooses one, that instantly turns exactly her appropriate size of clothes, and then she did the same with the shoes; she turns around and asked to Ogbort: How did I look? Gorgeous!- Ogbort said, coughing of emotion- the young woman was really something! And to the Secretary #30 he asked: Could you define microtubule? Yes, Sir. The Microtubule-Body, supported by the incompletely developed neuronal brain, consequently has its own BGD. The microtubule system is inside the cells of the neuronal system, if there is in the neuronal shortage? No, as that there may be enough capacity in the microtubule system to do the job of life after death, even though it isn't big enough to give full flat space perception ( beatific vision) in the real body during life.- Secretary #30 explained.

If I understand it correctly, our brain, because it is not fully grown, is unable to give us full (beatific) vision during life-- then how is possible that it can do so after we are dead?- Ogbort asked, waiting for a positive answer (he also doesnt want to die). Well, Sir, some people could have that vision during life (even though not quite fully), but for very short periods. In other words it is possible to think with the microtubule system, at least partly. That's what's happening when people successfully meditate, have "religious experiences", experience "altered states" and the like.- Secretary #30 said. You are wasting your time, dear! We must be at that Opera theatre in half an hour! Or are you not going now?- Mariraila said, looking how the President was chatting while in bed. I said we were going there, and thats exactly what we will do.- Ogbort said, despising himself internally- he was a lot better in bed than attending a public event. Hours later, he left Miss Mariraila at the Hotel Leinster and went to his apartment at the Presidential palace; there, he calls on Secretary #30, saying: I am very interested in that theme, 30. But Im also falling asleep. Of course, Mr. President. Do you want a cup of coffee, to stay awake? Never! I will not force my dendrites to keep on giving life to my sleeping period! I will restbut you are going to bed with me: so youll begin the lecture early in the morning.- Ogbort said. How early, Mr. President?- She asked, politely. Call me Ogbort when in bed, please. And seven thirty its about early for me.- Ogbort said, laughing- he takes a shower, and went to bed dressed in pajamas. She was already in bed, naked. I would ask you to put some clothes, if you were a Natural woman- but as you are not, theres no way you can catch a cold.- Ogbort said, embracing her and closing his eyes. The room was warmed (20 Centigrade) and with all security systems on; outside the door, a couple of fighting squadrons were patrolling the corridors, elevators and stairwells. Secretary #30 was awake, of course- she was sensing the temperature, the hearth throbs and other internal biological system of his boss, just in case a malfunction could occur- as every Ewoman in palace, she was able to cure from a cold to a thrombosis. At 07.30 hours, the alarm clock awakes the President; he growled, and looking at #30 he said: Good girl! Your body was really warm. Now, lets talk for half an hour. She said: How does the microtubule system uncurbed the death dream? The microtubule system receives a flat-space version of our reality, and the problem is simply that the neuronal system doesn't have enough neurons to display it.... therefore we see the flat-version after death in the "microtubule-world". In other words, the total *possible* information content of the microtubule system is equal to what a neuronal brain with a BGD of zero would perceive rather than being dependent on what the neuronal brain perceived while it lived. Obviously that means the structure of the neuronal brain has some influence on that of the microtubule "brain". It seems reasonable that each species, with zero BGD, will perceive its own version of flat psychological space-time (God of the SPOG). Dogs for instance experience the same emotions as humans (since the neuronal brain structures that mediate emotions are present in both species) but dogs don't have the neuronal equipment for among other things calculus, hence their God of the SPOG will be a "lesser god" in those regards. But, its will never ever be able to perceive what the most profoundly limited human can (think what used to be called severe retardation), because its microtubule brain is inherently different.

Other scientists said that there is another possibility: that the microtubule system actually "mathematically-uncurves" these so-called death-dream. I see- this new theory seems more complete. A case of science fiction?- Ogbort asked. The #30 said:- This is not as far-fetched as it seems!! it turns out that visual input for instance is stored as a "hologram" in the visual cortex memory. A remarkable series of experiments century of years ago proved that the memory is actually a Fourier transform in both space and time of the visual input. What that means? It means that the so-called space and time dilation is a relativity are merely "simple frequency shifts" in the holographic memory system. It turns out that the brain could EASILY buy a simple analog method "UNCURVE" our world into flat-space-time ( a.k.a. Heaven). Holography. Of course; how silly of me. That's the key insight. Thank you, #30. Its nothing, Ogbort. Now of the above two possibilities, the first is simpler than the second, so using Occam's razor I am assuming that the first assumption is true rather than the second. But nature is very amazing, and it wouldn't surprise me at all if the second proposition turns out to be true! Ogbort hugged that superb body and said:-Its not one or the other, I now see. You know what you get when you cut a hologram in two? You get two complete holograms, each with half the resolution of the original. Yes, Ogbort. The microtubule system's holographic "image" of the God of the SPOG will always be of what you term flat psychological space-time, but the neuronal system's BGD determines the hologram's resolution. Ogbort said: - So how is a human's hologram different from a horse's? #30 said: Simple; the microtubule brain must be a hologram *encoded* by the neuronal brain's DNA! The level of detail is inversely proportional to the BGD. Ogbort kissed his nipples and said:- A severely retarded human's God is NOT different from a genius human's God, just of lower resolution! The former will be able to experience everything the latter can in his own LAD, but not as deeply. Yes, Ogbort. He has the same DNA-determined holographic image, but a smaller piece. At any rate, it is well within credible off-the-shelf science to believe that the microtubule system in the brain is fully capable of producing a flat-space-time version of our world in the afterlife. On the other hand there may be additional scenarios that are not part of a conventional biographical life review in which you may take different actions and do or accomplish additional things without logically upsetting your world history. I translate that as to make permutations of experienced events or fragments thereof, but there will be things you *cannot* do *because* they would "logically upset your world history". They'd be events the neuronal brain had *not* processed as sensory inputs before its chemical death, which you said it can't do, and with which I agree. That's a huge blind spot, a kind of "event horizon". That means perception-space curvature, which inevitably means *perceived* time dilation. It isn't necessarily strongly correlated, but it's definitely nonzero. It will indisputably be able to remember/relive/reshuffle

Everything the neuronal brain *did* process though, and as perfectly as its BGD allows. Oh, you are so perfect!- Ogbort said, caressing her. Thanks. And to keep on teaching you, I must add that we're talking infinitesimal shifts in the probability waves sloshing this way and that in the network of all the microtubules in every neuron but by definition, it takes nonzero time for any nonzero-energy quantum state change.#30 said. You know so much.- Ogbort said. Let me point out that the microtubule system operates at microwave to infrared frequencies which are nearly a billion times faster than neuronal firing frequency. By comparison then, the microtubule system DOES act almost "instantly" in comparison to the neuronal system!- #30 said. Yes, yes!- Ogbort said. Experience in you Humans is the result of *ignoring* most of the Universe and focusing on what *changes*; the personality experiencing LAD must perceive the hologram in *parts*, sequentially. From the outside an appropriate technology would display something akin to the waves seen sloshing back and forth over the surface of the neuronal brain as it processes sensory information. Some of the hologram would "light up", then other parts, etc. Or, the bits lit up will stay lit up as other parts are perceived. This would equate to the "process" of beatification; once achieved, "experience" is no longer possible because the Totality is experienced only simultaneously, and that may be the source of "free will", BTW).- #30 explained. I understand.- Ogbort said. The processing rate is *not* limited to the group velocity of signals (less than free-space c) in the microtubules; processing is accomplished by quantum interference between the separate waves. How fast does that "spooky action at a distance" work? AFAIK nobody thinks quantum correlations actually happen FTL. Recall that a classical system must be used to compare entangled states, and classical systems are limited to c. However, per the below rough calculation, it should take on the order of nanoseconds to fully download.- #30 said. A voice on the intercom interrupted by saying: Mr. President, Im your Secretary #02. Remember you have a reunion with the Miners Union at 8.30 hours. That is in ten minutes. All right, Ill be going!- Ogbort said, standing from the bed and helped by #30, he takes a one minute shower, then dried in ten seconds with hot air, and dressed by #30 in ten seconds. Right. Now we go- you keep at my side now, until further notice.- Ogbort said. Very well, Mr. President.- #30 said, smiling gently, while they take the elevator to floor 32; there, Ogbort has a rough session with the Unionists, that were asking for a rise on salaries bordering the 30 per cent- Ogbort was offering a 3 percent. After the meeting, he went to a small room, to rest for the next reunion, to be attended in one hour more. Tell me more about the immortality, dear.- He said, resting on a couch. Mr. President, you have to realize that the term "eternal life" does not denote an infinite LENGTH of time, it did notes VANISHING DILATION of time. Because of the brain growth deficit we experienced a 10, 20 or 30% time dilation in this life. This causes all the ills and suffering of his life. In the afterlife there is a zero time dilation... which is a de facto "condition" of eternal life. Yes, and it's true that some time after you achieve a state of "eternal life" you will die... a car might hit you, you might fall off a cliff, you could drown, you could die of AIDS.... but the point is, if you are in a "condition" of eternal life when

it happens.... it is absolutely IRRELEVANT... it is meaningless... I see; close the door and come here.- He asked, and she obeyed; he kissed her some minutes, and said: This is good for my health. A little too good, Ogbort! I sense myself a little elated, too.- #30 said, smiling. You will be in my eternal dream.- Ogbort said, and grabbed her by the waist Unbeknownst to Ogbort, a group of civilians and military men, top of the list people, begin a conspiracy engineered by many of a rich people who were loosing money with a Tyrant ruling everything at whim. The castle of cards made by Ogbort suddenly stumbled down one day, when the Army Forces, declaring his refusal to reinsert the Senate to the government, acted against him. Ogbort was in a quiet room at the Presidential palace, when four Synthetic guards run to his bed and said: Alert! President Ogbort, there is a rebellion force acting against your government! What?- Ogbort asked, opening one eye. He saw the four Synthetic e-men surrounding his bed proclaiming chaos. Generals are rebelled, Mr. President. Your Ministers and the guards at the door are fighting them- but we are loosing the battle. We recommend you to flee- soon they could begin using more heavy weapons and youll be trapped inside the Palace.- AB 721581 said. Right! Prepare the escapade.- Ogbort said, dressing himself in haste; soon he was walking hurriedly to the elevator; inside it, he descended until the corridor where the pneumotube was waiting- a silver vehicle was humming softly. Tell my closest Assistant to follow me when possibly- also, I want every Minister with me.Ogbort said. They are being advised. They accented. But please, step inside the vehicle, Sir.- AB 721581 said, and Ogbort seats inside the steel cube, the door hiss when closed, and the vehicle begin gaining speed- soon it was reached the 3902 kilometers per hour. Which is the situation, at the other cities?- Ogbort asked. They are taking control of every major city; your government was based in obedience and not in the weight of armament or military institutions- thats why disobedience from the Army Forces cannot be fought against.- AB 721581 said. Right. Well, it was good while it last. Pity for the people- I doubt my successors could be giving them as much as I did.- Ogbort said, and it was almost the naked truth- he was for ever giving money to the poor Naturals of Aristarchus planet. The machine stops and he went outside, standing on a platform, 390 kilometers away from Verne City- a sign on the wall reads: PLATFORM 01- HAGGARD. And of course, he was under the city of Haggard, at the center of the continent. He walked to the elevator, and when the doors slide open, he was in front of the Presidential hangar of the city. No military threat by now, Sir. But soon they will appear here- they are busy trying to take control of the Presidential Palace at Haggard city- seems your personal guard is fighting bravely against the rebels.- AB 721581. Good boys! Wish I could take everyone with me. Prepare the skyrocket.- Ogbort said. The big spaceship was glistening brightly under the artificial lights- the door to the exterior was still closed. Your pertinences are on its way here, Sir. Also, more than a dozen Ministers and 32 of your personal Assistants are waiting for the third trip here.- AB 721581 informed. Pity we are loosing valuable people! Give the alert: everyone of my loyal servants will try to approach spaceships and when accomplished, they are going to follow me. See that a signal is giving for them not to loose my location point.- Ogbort said, devising on the go his future actions. Orders are given, Sir. This will stop the general fighting, but will start another, at the spaceports.- AB 721581 informed. So be it! We cannot loose valuable persons without a fight! The order is for ever, do you understand? If they cannot take a spaceship now to follow me, then they will work their way to spaceships in the future and we need a location for them to find.- Ogbort said.

No problem, Sir. Well be giving the coordinates when they ask for them- of course, a rendezvous point must be established- we dont want the Space fleet arriving at your headquarters in the future.- AB 721581 said. Yes, you look for this strategic proceedings- now we are going from this planetary system- no way to stay around too much- this guys will try to fry me as soon as they could- I have the law at my side: I was elected by the people of Aristarchus planet! But deep inside Ogborts mind, he was almost sure the return to the administration of Aristarchus was far from being an easy thing- not while the commanding officers of the Army were alive- they will search means not to permit his return, or they would suffer imprisonment and possibly death because of their military revolution. Ogbort walked to his cabin aboard the spaceship- several Assistants were there, waiting for orders. Prepare the other spaceships available! We are taking every spaceship out of the rebels hands!- Ogbort commanded- but unfortunately, the spaceships on the Presidential hangar were only three, and one of them was suborbital, so it was left untouched. Star 935 on the Nerons cloud seems good to me. Tell me about my choosing.- Ogbort asked AB 721581. Star 935, 39 parsecs away- this spaceship is capable of Warp 3 at the most- 33 days trip. Its a terraformed planet on orbit number two, Sir. Scant information available- some people are already there, but no government is still present. Ogbort studied maps of the sky with the aid of a holographic machine; AB 721581 was telling distances and if they were or not terraformed planets. Soon it was evident 935 was the best option. Star 935 it is my destination. Tell everyone about that. I doubt this people that are rebelling against me could be able to spot me there- well take measures against them, too.- Ogbort said, feeling himself elated and at the same time, enraged. He was no military man, and he hadnt any army forces under his control. His assistants and the Ministers arrives in the second and third trip from Verne city, via the pneumatic tube; also, several crates with food and machinery. Ogbort! I come here with your Assistants! I dont want to live in Verne without you.Mariraila said. Thanks for your loyalty.- Ogbort said, kissing her lips, she giggled and said: I am sure well be happy in this spaceship! Of course, darling. Take possession of my cabin- there is food and you could look at the news.- Ogbort said, and she walked in that direction. #30 arrives to his side, saying: President: the rebels are offering you a safe trip out of the planetary system if you surrender to them. Ogbort smiled and said: Not in a million years! They could betray their word as they betrayed his loyalty to the elected President of this planet! And they could begin suing me for a thousand motives- some of them could be lost and I could be spending the rest of my life in a tiny fenced room. As you wish, Mr. President. Then your answer is no; I will give your answer right away, if you wish.- AB 721581 said. Do it with these words: I dont trade with traitors. Message sent.- AB 721581 said. The second spaceship is ready to deploy, Sir. Are we going now?- #30 asked him. Yes, we are sitting ducks in here.- Ogbort said, looking how the hangars doors opened; he seats at a chair and strapped himself to it- soon they were traversing the upper atmosphere layers, and the black velvet color of space replace the soft pale blue of Aristarchus sky. Good by to a dear planet!- Ogbort said, while some tears come into his eyes- a reign of felicity and content was being left behind- in front of him, a universe of stars were shining mysteriously. The pilot wants to talk to you, Mr. President.- AB 721581 said. Go ahead.- Ogbort acknowledged. Sir: we are leaving our planetary system by an unusual side- we dont want to be chased.- The voice of the main computer, aka the pilot, said.

You are the skipper! Do what is best.- Ogbort said. From the spaceship 93R40 they are sending a message to you, Sir.- AB 721581 said. Deliver it to me.- Ogbort said. We hailed you, Mr. President, and we are honest and true citizens of your government: twenty natural persons: among us are men and women loyalty to your cause.- A voice said, and a monitor flickered to life, showing a group of Homo sapiens looking at the screen. I thank you a lot! Good to have you aboard! Well begin again, and nothing I will restraint of my efforts to give you a life of work and humble but honest pleasures. Like the Phoenix bird, well rise again from our ashes!- Ogbort said, realizing they were going to be at a planet where no civilization seems to exist. #30 said: We are now leaving the limits of our planetary system, Sir. The spaceships are turning to our true direction. Fine to know. Tell me how many days we are going to be traveling.- Ogbort asked her. 33 days, Sir. Do you want to sleep them- or be awake?- #30 asked him. Sleeping should be better- if in any danger, dont wake me up! Try to do your best at all hours.- Ogbort said, sensing he was trapped in a web of pessimism. Soon he was asleep in a cryogenic pod, where no dreams or nightmares could reach his inner self. At the 93R40, the Naturals were also already on the pods- only the Synthetic people were awake and busy. No pursuit was performed by the rebel forces.- AB 721581 said, by radio, to all of the Synthetic people on both spaceships. They were too busy taking control.- #30 said by the same means. In my view, our President is not anymore a President. We should call him Commander General.- AB 721581 said. Commander General is a fine title.- #30 said. You are entitled to call him Ogbort, at times.- AB 721581 said. Yes, when we are in bed.- #30 said, and someone laughed. The disrespect will be punished.- AB 721581 said. We are all agreeing with that.- #30 said, walking to the pod where Ogbort was frozen, and stands there in attention- she was not willing anybody to harm his President Ogbort while she lives. 33 days later, and with no incidents on the voyage, the star 935 was in full view, the sole radiant object shining so violently in many million of million kilometers around that was a spectacle to admire. Several round balls were following it like a flock of birds. Ogbort awakes and opening an eye, he said: where am I? Aboard the Presidential spaceship, Sir. You were deposed from your title; we are arriving to planet 935.- AB 721581 said who was watching the procedures of reawakening together with #30. I remember now. What a pity I loose the presidency! But we must be brave now- I must show no remorse of things I did in the past- all for the welfare of my people!- Ogbort said, while some tears were running down his face. Dont be upset, Sir! Bad for your health.- #30 recommend, sensing his pulse was not the best. Yeah, I doubt there could be happiness everlasting for anyone.- Ogbort said, walking by the corridor, while being helped by #30 and AB 721581. We are arriving to the orbit around the planet- no spaceships in sight, apart from our 93R40AB 721581 informed. Ah, the 93R40! Loyal people, indeed. How many people they say they were?- Ogbort asked them. 20 loyal persons of Natural origin are there, Sir, together with 18 Synthetic persons- four of them Ministers of your former government.- AB 721581 said. Right! Well be descending to the planet- I dont want Naturals being hurt or sick by any bug! So you must sent a team downstairs to see we are landing on a secure place- no viruses, no toxic gases, no animals must be present.- Ogbort said. No dangerous animals, that is what you mean?- #30 asked him for confirmation.

Yes, no dangerous animals- animals in general are tame and good to eat! But there are carnivorous and also predators that could be a threat for our future colony! See to it, AB 721581.- Ogbort recommended them. As they circled the planet for five days, the Main Computer and four Synthetic assistants from the Presidential skyrocket were busy analyzing places where to land and where to begin a colony. They finally choose a place at the south of the Equator, on a big continent that was singled out with the name of 41/42 for previous cartographers from the Federation of Planets Starfleet. AB 721581 shows the place to Ogbort, who was playing with a monitor, zooming into the ground- he said: Good spot- warm, with a wide river, in a high place not to be drowned when the winter comes. Well call it Ogbortburg. Ogbortburg it is. Do you want to descend now, Sir?- AB 721581 asked him. Better today than tomorrow! Lets land right now.- Ogbort said, strapping to his chair; soon both spaceships were descending like red meteors of outer space, leaving a trail of white behind them. You hadnt informed me about the people that should be here.- Ogbort asked to AB 721581, who said: No presence of artificial energy is present, Sir, nor buildings spotted. No ships crossing the sea. Seems they are absent. Absent! I sense a threat in this place for us. Wish I am wrong.- Ogbort said, looking at #30, who was standing at his side. The threats are there to be fought, Sir.- She said, sensing the pessimism was again gnawing Ogborts brain. Chapter # 2.THE PLANET 935-3. Ogbort glanced out of the cabin by a porthole; the air was fresh and plants in view were glistening with rain drops, while the sun was shining in midday position. Air is breathable, no signs of toxic gases, Sir. The away team is patrolling the area- soon youll be able to step out yourself.- AB 721581 said. Good.- Ogbort said. The other team of Naturals is already out and jogging.- #30 said. No kidding! Who gives them permission! Its too dangerous-= Ogbort said. Do you want to talk to them? They could talk through an Assistant.- #30 informed him. Yes, I better talk now than tomorrow.- Ogbort mumbled out. Soon he was looking at a guy in greens, with a hat to match. Its President Ogbort here! Who gives you permission to get out of the spaceship? There could be trouble out there- explorative mission is not accomplished in full yet.- Ogbort brawled by the phone. Oh, pardon me, President! We thought we could get out once we were landed.- The man said. Who are you, anyhow?- Ogbort asked him. Gorian! The second in command of the pneumatic presidential tube! I come here with all my family- plus some friends.- The man said. Oh. I was sure you were all my followers from the presidential palace.- Ogbort sounds disillusioned. But we are your followers! My aunt and my wife love you! Especially when you was distributing all those bones to the poor people.- Gorian said, smiling. Very well, Gorian, now you are out on the open, stay there until I get there if nothing happens to you on the next half hour.- Ogbort said, not without black humor. He scanned Gorian through a monitor for three hours- the people at the ground show no signs of poisoning or other diseases; Miss Mariraila was bored to wait and went down without permission- Ogbort looked through the monitor how she played with some pebbles and said to #30 : Guess I must go out myself now! There are no dangers. No, Sir; at the least, not around the spaceship. The territory is already secured by your guards.- #30 said.

Stop calling me Sir, or President! Here Ill be only Ogbort to you- And I should call you with some Natural name.- Ogbort said. She smiled, rising her shoulders a bit- in her interim, she dislikes Natural names- they were for family members, and her family nomenclature was the AB of her name. Ill call you Tamara. Do you like that name? Its from ancient Terra.- Ogbort said. Tamara is a good name, Ogbort.- Said she, smiling. Well, Tamara, lets go down the ramp! Our Synthetic people will take care of everything aboard ship.- Ogbort said, taking her by the arm and walking out of the main deck. At the ground, the people gathered around him, expecting some orders, and Ogbort said: People of Aristarchus! We are here for a short while only! Soon my loyal citizens back at Aristarchus will call me back! I am sure you will be happy to leave this wilderness and return to our home planet! He made a pause, and look unto the eyes of the people- they were feeling themselves unjustly treated- so he keeps saying: Here we could build cabins and begin a new life, but no, well be using the spaceships as home and our machines for the welfare of the body and soul. To live in cabins carries a lot of dangerous threats like colds and sickness- well stick to our way of living. They applauded him, as they were not inclined to live in the open, in a land where wild beasts could be waiting for them to relax and then attack. Very well, Ill give you the use of the personal fliers we had in our spaceship, and also the land vehicles if you want a day off in the fields. Ill be in touch with Aristarchus by way of our super radio- the minute they begin asking for me, well depart. Are you happy with these schemes?Ogbort asked them, knowing they were accepting, by the look on their faces. They all said yes and applauded- there were scant a couple of them with the nerve of to be a colonist. Days were passing- they were not idle: excursions to the neighboring sites of interest, a couple of trips to a far mountain ridge, the collection of herbs and small animals. Four days later, the radar gives the alert- an object was coming and it was not a meteorite. Hailing the incoming vessel, Sir. Its a private scientific team- from the University of Gamero.- AB 721581 said, from the radar console. Well, if its a scientific team, we had nothing to worry about!- Ogbort said, sighing visibly. They are going to land to the right of us, Sir. If you dont mind, of course- we could tell them not to.- AB 721581 said. Oh, it doesnt matter at all! We can socialize for a change.- Ogbort said, looking at his console, where #30 Tamara was working to focus the object in view. Soon the spaceship landed- it was triangular, 40 meters long and 15 meters wide- it has retractile fins. Model 93lko- 39, Sir. Atomic propulsion- old of 15 years. I dont know how it passes the technical revision for that kind of atomic engines.- AB 721581 said. The fact is that not every University has lots of money for their expeditions.- Tamara said. AB 721581 said: Im sending a welcome team there, Sir- E-females only, no weapons. Right; invite them here.- Ogbort said, thinking a conversation with sages only means learning a little more thanks to them. Half an hour later, a group of 5 persons arrives to the Presidential spaceship- they enter by the lock section, walked to the mess hall, where Ogbort, Mariraila, AB 721581 and AB#30 Tamara were waiting. Good heavens! Humans at last! We had being seeing Ferengi for the last four encounters!- An old man with a very white beard said; he was flanked by two females and two males of his same age. Welcome to the Presidential Spaceship of Aristarchus! Sorry we are not in our planet- but just the same we offer our hospitality.- Ogbort said. Im professor Termes. These are my assistants Goran, Gwendolyn, Portales and Henry Williams- we come from Earth.- Termes said. Good to know you; I am Ogbort, president of Aristarchus, and this ladies are Miss Mariraila my fiance, and Miss Tamara, E female in charge of my welfare.- Ogbort presented them.

I see; well, this planet is under the name of 935-3 in our Charts.- Termes said. Yes, and it is also in mine- this is not Aristarchus planet- I was forced to flee from there, as a rebellion takes my administration out of the way.- Ogbort informed him. The eyes of Termes went soft, and he said: How pity this is to hear! A good President overthrown because who knows which dark motivations! And there was a war, so I heard. Did you? I mean, the news gives the notice of this to the rest of the Federation?- Ogbort said, marveling. Yes, of course! Perhaps not for too many days, you know how the Media works with the people- one day you are top of the list, and a week later nobody remembers you.- Termes said. What, are you in the same line as me?- Ogbort asked him. Of course! Not as important, but just the same forgotten! I invented the water engine years ago- big news, I was interviewed, some tycoons come to my apartment ringing the bell to see the blueprints and then, a week later, all this offers and people surrounding my humble abodewere gone with the wind, as if never happened.- Termes said. Well, I am here waiting if the people shake themselves from their siesta, and come to my rescue.- Ogbort said. Termes lowered his voice, and recommended: Sorry not to have means to help you recover your job, Mr. President! But I am here to collect samples and see if we could make a profit out of it. Several drug dealers are waiting for my return- so If you realize I am not being polite with you, the neighbor, its just because I am working in the field. I am here waiting, but that doesnt mean I could not go with you exploring- lets say in the first day.- Ogbort said. Termes looked at him with suspicion, and said: I see no harm in that! I intend to start today! My people has been waiting for too long to wait for another day. Perfect.- Obgort said, and #30 offered those fruits and orange juice- from the hydroponics laboratories. Later, Tamara #30 said to Ogbort: You really are going with them? You hardly know whats going on in that boat! I had seen a real huge indentation at the left side of the hull- seems like a rocket did it. Ogbort looked at her while he thinks about it, and said: You are going with me- I guess you can defend me if something goes wrong. Of course I can.- She said, kissing him lightly on a cheek. Ogbort went to bed early, to prepare his body for the exertions of the morrow, while Tamara prepares the tent and utensils to be carrying. Marilaila asked him to be on the safari, but he said:This time you cannot go with me, darling! Too dangerous- we dont know exactly which kind of beings are here thriving since genesis. Well- I guess Ill be here boring myself while looking silly holo-dramas.- Marilaila said, thinking now that her idea to leave planet Aristarchus was a wrong one. The team of the professor was ready at 8.00 oclock, and Ogbort arrives just in time- Termes was busy organizing it all, and when seeing him, he said: Oh, the President! Now we are ready! And they begin walking into the forest without any other hesitation. Ogbort feels the humid aroma of leaves and roots, damp patches of grass and he was elated by the perspective of this excursion. Are you here since a very long time, Mr. Ogbort?- A lady said, looking at him with a sympathetic smile. She was Gwendolyn Marabund, biologist. Certainly, lady! Half of my life has been spent in here.- Ogbort lied. I was wondering you did so- because you look so wild!- She said, chuckling, while stumbling- and Ogbort helped her not to fall, grabbing her by her right arm. Careful! We dont want you to get hurt.- Ogbort said, and Tamara chuckled at his side. Oh! It was an accident! I must take heed of the road.- Said Gwendolyn, stumbling again. Perhaps I could go and fetch a stretcher for you.- Tamara said, solicitous. No, you dont!- Gwendolyn glared at her. Some steps ahead she added: And you have a wife, Mr. Ogbort?

Call me just and simply Ogbort! And no, I am not married- I hadnt found the perfect match.Ogbort said. Thanks you.- Tamara glared at him. Well, they say a Synthetic person dont count, in love affairs.- Gwendolyn exclaimed. 08 Oh! They said that? Ungrateful people!- Tamara said. I am also a bachelor, Mr. Ogbort! My life has been a complete desert.- Gwendolyn said. Together with cactuses and desert rats- perhaps also with one or two snakes?- Tamara asked her. Please tell your android no to mingle in our conversation- Ogbort?- Gwendolyn asked him. Yes, of course. Ill be at the front side of this safari cum love affair.- Tamara said, leaving them behind. You should sent that android to get a revision, Ogbort. Something is amiss in it.- Gwendolyn recommended. She indeed acts in a strange way.- Ogbort said, not willing to shatter the thin glass of sympathy he was obtaining from the young woman. The weather! They say humid places fuse something inside of their bodies.- Gwendolyn said, taking his hand to walk. Ogbort sensed her hand as warm and small but with a firm grip. He was being aroused and he likes it. Gwendolyn also realized he was being wired on the soft pink steel net of love Ogbort- can I ask you a question? I know we hadnt meet before- I shouldnt being asking you this, but A far cry and the crack of a LASER shot cut her speech short. Tamara appeared running at top speed, grabbed both Naturals by the hands and helped- or better still, heaved them up a tree trunk- when they were climbing, a flock of big feathered creatures appeared. Dont you move a muscle!- Tamara said, looking down. There were Therizinosaurs (Reaper lizard) ; (parent clade Coelurosauria, Therizinosauroidea, 8 10 meters high, with claws 70 cm. long., 14 meters long.) They were making noises and looking all over the place, while two more of them appeared, fighting each other for a piece of bloody meat. Ogbort realize that it was a piece of cloth hanging from that chunk of meat. He looked at Tamara in horror and she just blinks an eye in his direction. Gwendolyn also realizes something terrible was happening and yelled with all her might. The Therizinosaurs looked up and with sharp cries of rage begin climbing; using their long claws to fixed their hands and legs to went up rather swiftly. They spot us!- Ogbort said, while Gwendolyn became flaccid and passes out. Tamara grabbed her by an arm and said: Great. A hysteric lady. We can climb a little more.- Ogbort suggested- she said: No way, Ogbort! They will climb up to the last branch that could resist their weight for a chunk of meat! Certainly you are not edible for them! You could fight for us.- Ogbort said. Thanks for your encouragement! But I will be receiving a lot of bruises! Do you want me to look like a road map?- Tamara asked him, while the Therizinosaurs were half way up to them. Of course not! But perhaps I could find you a replacement amount the spare parts aboard our spaceship!- Ogbort said, fascinated by the way those Therizinosaurs clipped their beaks as preparing to cut them in half. Oh, yeah? Do you like male faces for me? Somebody place only male faces for us Synthetics on board. They have thought only males works hard.- Tamara said. Perhaps we could jump to that other tree- see? You only need to help me first, and then jump with Gwendolyn.- Ogbort said. Tamara looked outraged by the insinuations, and replied: I am not so sure your idea could work, Ogbort, but Ill try. Ogbort moved to a firm looking branch and said: Could you help me with a little push? Yes, of course.- Tamara said, releasing Gwendolyns arm and helping Ogbort depart with a strong push that sent him away like a rock. Gwendolyn twitched and started way down the Therizinosaurs croaked with excitement and went after her with haste.

Well, that solves the case!- Tamara said, looking how Gwendolyn was cut to pieces. She jumped to the other tree, and grabbing Ogborts wrist, she said: Lets go now that they are busy! There is nothing that we could do for her, now. Yes, I know that.- Ogbort swallowed and being helped by her, they retrace their steps back to the spaceship as fast as Ogbort was capable of. Where are the others?- Dulio Bortanko asked when they enter the mess hall. Lost.- Ogbort replied. Lost? And how do you get here?- Rosa Bermen asked. We were attacked by Therizinosaurs ten meters high- we run away in time.- Tamara explained. But they had rifles! How come they didnt defend themselves?- Dulio Bortanko asked. They did! But what con you do against a hundred hungry Therizinosaurs?- Tamara asked him. Our expedition ends here.- Dulio said. Bad luck.- Ogbort growled. Well return home empty handed and with several persons missing.- Rosa Bermen said. Not necessarily empty handed. We could finish your job and then you could return.- Ogbort said. Rosa Bermen looked at them and said: Not in the life of me could I do that! Im returning as soon as you, Dulio, say so. He looked troubled, and replied: Certainly this is a blow to me. I must have more time to take this in. Give me some hours to think what to do. Or days! While you think, Ill sent some of my crew members to realize some of your job at the forest.- Ogbort said, but Rosa chuckled and said acidly: How you possibly know which were our goals? Dont be a clown!- And went out of the room. Dulio sighed and said: Leave her alone for now! She must be under a shock- same as myself. Tamara gives a sign to Ogbort they should leave that man alone with his feelings, so they walked to the main cabin, where she close the doors and said: Dont pretend you werent interested on that Natural- I see you were very interested. So what? Shes dead, now.- Ogbort said, looking at the main screen that was showing the forest to the north. Good you arent shocked. We can talk now: this professor Termes expedition is totally finished. Certainly it is.And you dont need to help them if they dont want your help. Certainly it is so. So this is what you cold do: grab their spaceship, and fly in it to some civilized world under other name than your own. What for? I can travel on my Presidential Spaceship- or it is harm in it? No harm! But it has the label Property of Aristarchus government all over it! They will notice wherever we go, and for political reasons, youll be taken in custody and finally the spaceship will be handled down to whoever rules Aristarchus now!- Tamara reasoned out. Ogbort gives it a thought, and said: I dont want to loose so fine and valuable spaceship! Inside of it we have whole water treatment plants, food processors, dozens of cryogenic pods, workers, dozen of luxurious cabins! I see you are in love with the chunk of metal.- Tamara laughed. I am also attached to you.- Ogbort said, embracing her. She offered her lips and after some very romantic kisses, she said: You can keep both of them! You could leave the big one in orbit, and descent on the smaller one. But, the license numbers?- Ogbort asked her about. Well pay for legal licenses! You have enough money to do that and much more.- Tamara said. Right. Lets tell this people we are kidnapping them for life, and that their spaceship is ours from now on.- Ogbort ironically said. No need to be so sarcastic, Ogbort! Just let me handle things and all will be all right for us.Tamara said, kissing him tightly.

Ogbort was relaxed- the remains of Professor Termes were now in control- they were advised of the new state of things: They were only mere guests of him, and their spaceship was confiscated for ever. As they asked for a trip home, Tamara told them that their request was not allowable. I told them to relax and enjoy the ride. The man almost accepted it, but the female doesnt._ Tamara said to Ogbort, who was looking at some news on the super radio device. Yes, women are tougher to deal. Perhaps she will be fine on a cryogenic pod.- Ogbort said. That was my first intention too, but she can serve you better.- Tamara said. How? As a bed companion?- Ogbort chuckled. As the mother of your child. Are you gone mad? For which purpose did I want offspring?- Ogbort asked her- he detested babies a-crying. Tamara seats at his side, saying: As you said, we have a spaceship not the like in several dozen parsecs around! You can start a colony with your offspring as the ruler kind of the rest. What for? Plenty of colonist pestering the entire Galaxy by now!- Ogbort said, bitterly. Tamara strokes her hair and said: As you should know by now, life objective is what you can put as an objective. To live just for to survive isnt what we are meant for! Ogbort sighed and said: I know I can produce offspring but they will be only a handful. You can made clones out of them! As many you could wish. Clones had hindrances built into their bodies.- Ogbort replied, remembering so many tales about them. I can kidnap people for your future colony. I could make them happy in debauchery, offspring will come. A religion of mating in certain seasons could do the trick. Childs to the country, people to your colony!- Tamara said. Ogbort gets interested and said: And I could participate in those communal mating ceremonies. Tamara laughed and said: Yes, but of course, you are not too apt bringing perfect specimens into the world! I should be working on your genes quite a bit. Ogbort laughed and embracing her, he said: Guess you are my new version of Aphrodite? Start with your project- I am ready to mate with Rosa! You devil you!- Tamara said, departing out of the main deck. Rosa was not willing to have sex, so Tamara sedated her and implanted the seed with an instrument. Rosa knew about it when the signs of pregnancy begin. You neither had right to use my body for your purposes! Take thins thing out of me!- She yelled, when Ogbort appears at her cabin. So be it! But remember I dont touch you in any way!- Ogbort told her. Later, the embryo was removed and Tamara takes good care of it for the rest of the gestation period. Is a girl.- She told Ogbort. It will be happiness for me to see her when born.- Ogbort said, and he was decided to call her with the name of Inana. The Synthetic Assistants built a house on the ground, and Ogbort begin sleeping there at night; it was freed of the little noises the starship had. Time passes and the little Inana was born; a week later, Ogbort shows the baby to Rosa, using a monitor. She was spellbound to see her and some hours later, she asked to see the baby in person. You should let her- the female instinct is acting in her.- Tamara said to Ogbort. I dont know if I can permit it! There are a very large number of mothers who had inflicted pain and also death to their offspring, when the method was unsatisfactory.- He said. But she was not raped by you! Those cases are when the mother had suffered a severe case of trauma. Relax! Ill be at her side at all times.- Tamara noticed out. Well, I dont know.- He repeated, and she caressed his cheek, saying: The minute I observe had intentions in her, Ill intervene.- Tamara said, and so ti was that Rosa became tamed by the birth of her daughter. Tamara was not going to accept her to be alone with the baby, so she

appointed a E-female at her side the 24 hours of the day, with orders to serve as a nurse and also to intervene if the baby was in any dangerous situation. The nurse or Baby sitter was AB- 3D40, formerly employed in Hydroponics. She was efficient and quick of reasoning. She resembles a young female of twenty four years of age, white skin, dark hair and a big black pair of eyes. Ogbort begin exploring the woods with a team of Synthetics, while Tamara worked with a staff of biologists on the cloning of several dozen new homo sapiens. Dulio Bortanko presents himself in front of Tamara, saying: I am bored stiff! Please give me some work to do, or Ill become mad. She smiled and said: Of course, Mr. Bortanko! How about working at the ward? You could be of use there. Anything to do will be fine for me, lady.- He replied, And from that day on, he was working at the Nursery, where there was a lot to do. When the baby clones begin to be born, Tamara used the empty cabins as bedrooms for them- there was a lot of traffic by the corridors, and bottles with mil were carried to every one of them to drink. The milk was purely synthetic; using a sample Miss Rosa Bermen gives at first time, and has all the nutrients necessary; the spaceship doors were shut, throughout all the process, so there was an atmosphere free of bacteria and dangerous viruses. Vaccinations were also provided, and not one life was lost of those infants. During this time, Miss Rosa Bermen and her daughter were transferred to the smaller spaceship, not to contaminate the newly born; also, Mr. Dulio Bortanko was moved there to sleep, and decontaminated every day when going to work at the wards. Eighty one cloned beings were in all; sixty two females and nineteen males; it was not meant to be like this, and Tamara was revising the procedures in order to find out what was the cause. Rosa Bermen was nurturing her baby- five months had elapsed, and Mr. Dulio was there, smiling. Thanks for your daily visits, Dulio. If not because of you, I would have become crazy or seriously ill, among so many Synthetic mimicry of human being.- She said. He seats on a stool and said: Well, the sentiment is mutual! I am also alone except for you and the baby. Now you are working with those clones. Are they as beautiful as my daughter?- Rosa Bermen asked while smiling broadly. They are different- of course. I find all babies equally beautiful- the innocence in them makes me feel happy to be of service.- Dulio said. She feels attached to Dulio, because the natural needs were in her- soon after that conversation, they begin a romance. Sometimes I wish we could escape from this awful spaceship- and return to our home planet.Rosa Bermen said. Me too, now the clones are thriving- I guess we could return to our University. I am certain they could receive us with outstretched arms. Tamara was informed of those conversations through the Main Computer, so she takes measures, forbidding the entrance to the main deck for Tulio and Rosa. Ogbort was informed too, and he said: We should take them out of the spaceship now. To the building you are using as home?- Tamara asked him. Right. I prefer to sleep on the spaceship knowing we had those two Natural people under control, than me snoring on the building at night. Take all their stuff out of the vessel.- Ogbort said, while seated at the control room. Yes, its the best for you! I will also forbid them to get inside any of the vessels. Tamara said, Well begin making homes to the clones.- Ogbort said. Plenty of time for that, Ogbort! They have only five months old.- Tamara remarked. They are babies as similar between themselves as a drop of water to the other! Rosa must be jealous.- Ogbort said. Tamara laughed and said: She looks unto her daughter with mothers eyes. For her theres lots of differences, plus the veil of maternity makes her see different as we see. I believe you. Did she have a romance with old Dulio?

Yes, she is having an affair. Not that I sense too much love and emotions between them- its more a practical situation: both are Naturals among lots of Synthetic people.- Tamara said. I would free them tomorrow, but they are going to accuse me of illegal procedures.- Ogbort said. You had suffered illegalities first, dear Ogbort. You cannot defend yourself without stepping in some others toes!- Tamara said. Ogbort accented with a bow of his head. His return to Aristarchus was very difficult now, because he heard by the super radio, that the military coup was calling for Elections- they were going to deliver the power to the people- at least, in appearance. My friends had forgotten me.- Ogbort said that evening, while they were taking some tea. Life goes on. The fact that you disappeared makes them believe you were killed.- Tamara said. If I went back now, possibly they could remember the good times, and elected me again?Ogbort asked. Possibly, dear Ogbort!- Tamara said, not telling that Aristarchus government was out of his reach almost for ever. FIFTEEN YEARS LATER. Fifteen years later, the Clones were everywhere- living at two buildings near the now rusting spacecrafts, with the eighty five per cent of the Synthetic people still operational; Ogbort was now at the Presidential Spaceship almost all year round, while Tamara, as fresh as in the beginning, was ruling everything for him. Dulio and Rosa were at the same house Ogbort gives them fifteen years ago; her first son was attending school in the morning, and working in the afternoon, as all the rest of the youth. Dulio usually calls on Ogbort for to talk and, very often, ask for a change or two- but Ogbort was for ever trusting Tamara in affairs of Administration, so ti was very little what Dulio Bortanko obtained through his conversations. Your daughter is very clever, and she still doesnt know that you are her father! I know it! I am informed that she is doing well. Of course, shes being monitored not to get astray. And how is your wife, Rosa?- Ogbort asked, through the radio transmitter. Fine, thanks! I am calling you now, to see if you could lift the ban on engines working with fossil components. The battery system didnt provide us with fast reliable vehicles. I remember the hard times of those cities under the smog and people choking with gases! No, I will not permit that to happen here.- Ogbort was adamant at the respect. Dulio talked some more, and ends the conversation. Tamara said: He is very stubborn! This si the fifth time that presses that matter! Yes, gasoline are far easy to make; magnetic repulsion its obviously made for sophisticated societies a thing we are far to achieve.- Ogbort said. Our community is tiny and feeble. Our people are youngsters. It will take several generations to see our community grows to a size we could name as a real city.- Tamara said. Our government here is a monarchy. My daughter will rule the community, and you said youll help her.- Ogbort said. Certainly I will! Im teaching her myself! She and twenty other students are receiving education through me. When the times come, I will tell her who is real father is, and how we are waiting her to take control of the Government.- Tamara said. Her mother will be the problem!- Ogbort said. Theres no problem I couldnt solve!- Tamara said, kissing Ogbort in his cheek. Ogbort looked at her with joy; she was as young as when he first met her. Tomorrow is your birthday; we have some ceremonies to attend.- Tamara said. Oh, my birthday! I already forgot my age.- Ogbort chuckled. Your birthday is very important to the people. You are the true father of this community.Tamara said. Yes: but we havent finished our job, isnt it? This people the clones- are branches of the same trunk. You said we had to kidnap people, to mix the genes.- Ogbort said.

I have all prepared, dear Ogbort! The smaller spaceship is refitted! I am prepared and at the ceremony you will be announcing the first space flight in sixteen years!- Tamara said. Ogbort knitted his brow and said: I dislike the idea of to open this world to the Federation of Planets! Too many greedy men, drugs and sexual debauchery going on! As we once said, we will kidnap people no signs of alliance with them whatsoever!- Tamara remembered, but she knew intercourse was going to happen in the future, willing or not. At the next day, Ogbort received the honors, and the people seats to eat the birthday cake and the chocolate and milk Ogbort was so fond of. Every ersatz and from the spaceship food processor. Young people is needed! Our smaller spacecraft will go find them, and they will be carried out here!- Ogbort said, much to the joy of so many females without male friends. Who are the ones who will go in this trip, father?- Goria, one of his cloned daughters asked him. I need volunteers!- Tamara said, and almost everyone raise their hand to offer their assistance, but only twelve of them were really needed. Four days later, Ogbort was kissing the foreheads of the twelve volunteers, saying: Farewell, dear sons and daughters! I wish you a sound trip and a happy return! Thanks you, father!- They all replied. Minutes later, the Model 93lko- 39 spaceship rise from the ground softly as a bird and fly away. May the best of luck await you ever!- Ogbort said, with watering eyes. Tamara embraces him and said: Dont you worry, dear Ogbort! They are in the best of hands.- And she was saying that, as AB 721581 was piloting the spaceship Model 93lko- 39. CHAPTER 3 THE VOYAGE OF ABE. AB 721581 traveled directly to Knapp. They found 380 major cities, huge and dense traffic everywhere, and they landed on Oredloro spaceship field # 2 without any problems. A vendor machine appears, asking for 20.000 Credits, that was the fare for 30 days. After the 30 days term, you must to depart or your spaceship and cargo will be confiscated, sold in an auction- the money so obtained will serve to pay the cost of the unpaid fare, plus the auctions expenses. The remaining amount, if any, will serve to pay the costs and the remaining sum will be divided among your original crew.- The vendor said (It was a shining metallic cube with several photo sensors in place of ersatz eyes.) Fully understood.- AB 721581 pay the fare, and the Vendor said: How quaint! Your money its sixteen years old! Some problem with that?- AB 721581 asked. None whatsoever! Just stating the fact. Good day, gentlemen.- The Vendor said, walking away on its three legs. (He also had a ventral ugly looking gun.) Really nasty, uncle Abe!- Marson said- he was a tall clone. He performs his job, son. Nothing else- very well now we leave the spaceship in two groups- some of us will remain here.- AB 721581 said. The Natural people protested, and AB 721581 said: Wait! I dont say you are staying! We will leave in here four Synthetic friends on board. And the Naturals applauded, very relieved not to be confined on that place. Now we are booked on two fine Hotels, thanks to our Main Computer, who finds out where we could rest in harmony and peace! I recommend not talking to strangers about where we come from and especially, what are we here to accomplish! Only trivial conversation is allowed with the natives. I recommend you also that when resting, stay some moments looking at the local news and films, to grasp how this people lives and their possible flaws. We must learn the ways of Oredlorian people!- AB 721581 said. In several taxi fliers they traveled downtown, obtaining so the necessary first glimpse of a live megalopolis. This is real big, uncle Abe.- Beria said, eyes glued to the window. Certainly, nothing compared with what we knew.- Marson commented in awe.

Its a megapolis- The in-built driver of AB 721581 taxi said, through a loudspeaker on the ceiling. Certainly its a buster!- Marson exclaimed. Lines of airships were crisscrossing the sky at different levels; the size and shape were different, and also their velocity. Now can they fly so close together without accidents?- Beria asked. Force field lines, lady! We are in one of those- I cant raise our velocity, nor slowdown until we are allowed to descend.- The in-built driver informed. All the people seem to be on the move.- Marson noted. And there are some others that are using the Transporter system.- The in-built driver said- he was referring to the disintegrator- integrator machines, very much more comfortable and fast than the rest of the mobilization systems now used inside the city. I dont think I would like to be disintegrated.- Beria said. Nothing to it, really! Perfectly safe.- The in built taxi driver said, and they landed on top of a building 340 stories high. AB 721581 paid the fare and they all descended from the different taxi fliers. A lot of people were departing and arriving there, so they hurried down on a elevator. A voice on the elevator was informing the users about what was on each of the different floors. Not one but seventeen different hotels were on that building; AB 721581 booked six persons on the Heinlein Hotel and on the Pinera Hotel; he didnt rent a place for himself, as his idea was to be running around the places and staying at the spaceship for better control of the whole mission. Marson receives money for to spend, as every other Natural person of the team. He was remembering the indications AB 721581 gives them at the spaceship: to find young people without physical defects, make friends with them and targeted the ones suitable for the colony on 935-5 planet. It seems an easy job to do.- Marson commented with Beria, who recently asked a full set of cosmetic through the holographic vendor machine. It certainly seems easy._ She said, while a package pop ups inside a transporter vendor container. She opened it and finds the beauty set plus instructions how to use it. Whats that for?- Marson asked her looking at the tubes and bottles brightly labeled. Beauty set! I can put shade unto my eyelids, color to my lips, pink color to my cheeks! Its wonderful.- She said, looking at the leaflet. A picture. A picture- perhaps! Every woman uses this powders and crmes.- Beria said. Right! For my part, I must enter to some contest or a Club.- Marson said. Alalla approaches to Beria, saying: How beautiful set! Can I use some of it? Certainly! We could use it and then go out and see the people! This is so different than our old town!- Beria said. I feel frightened in here! I dont imagine this was going to be so huge and crowded to the extreme!_ Foxia said- she was, like the rest of the groups, as similar, to one another that the only discernible difference was on their dresses. AB 721581 was busy delivering the second group at the outskirts of Oredloro; there, at the Hotel Pinera, the young People could socialize with other youngsters, as that Hotel had soccers fields, tennis courts, swimming pools and a dozen other facilities for sportsmen. AB 721581 said: As you should know by now, sportsmen usually are clean of mind and body, and half of them come from the upper classes of society, so beware! Why not from the lower classes, Abe?- Ratafong asked him- he was a thin and small man Because the upper classes had money to spend- they work at places where the working hours are a delight- and also, with short shifts! Those people had seen their fathers going to the gymnasium, get long vacations where the sports are primordial, and so on. At the lower classes, the chief of the family works more and didnt take any attention to sports- except by looking how others run and sweat on the holographic sets. Beware of that! You must love sports from now on.- AB 721581 said.

I love to swim.- Ratafong said, and the rest of the group smiled at him- they had seen him swimming like a long and thin snake on the river. AB 721581 said: Behind a young male or female could be an important politician, lawyer or General of the Army! We dont want any troubles here! You must search for the ones without too strong family ties- whose will be not missed so hard. And theres no other way to pick them up, uncle Abe?- Lana V Asked. Of course not, Lana V! We cannot open our hearts to them and said: Please come with us as colonizers and studs to a far away land where the woods are infested with deadly animals and plants, where you will be not able to come back to Oredloro in the rest of your life! This highly developed society we are in is way too different to the one we come from.- AB 721581 explained, and opened Bank accounts for every one of them, so they could had money for their needs, apart from the Hotel and meals, that those were already paid by him. Marson and Beria decided to be close together not to miss opportunities and also, because Beria was afraid of so many people milling around all the time. We will go dancing! I am sure we can have a lot of luck in those places!- Marson said. but I dont know how they dance here!- She said, terrified. We will learn, sister! We just look at them and then well try to dance together! I am sure theres nothing too difficult in it.- Marson said, smiling. They went to places where lots of people were dancing and also drinking- soon Marson was dancing a easy tune with Beria, who sidestepped several times. The music ends and they return to their table. Its exciting! The music, the people and also the perfumes! The smell is good.- Marson exclaimed. Yes! I like to be here.- Beria said. They also dance with other people, and they went back to the Hotel in high spirits. By Holographic phones they talked with the second group at the Hotel Cairo, and later, Beria said to his own group: I sense they are lodged in a better place! Perhaps! But we have the excitement that gives to be in downtown! And out trip has a meaning: to travel through the stars just to pick up some poor souls and drag them to an uncivilized world! This is, of course, not my idea of justice.- Alalla said. He was pensive- to travel through Branas to kidnap people was not of his liking. At the next morning, Beria and Foxia went to see the Astronomic Cupola Show, where they say hundreds of colonized worlds through remote live cams. Some other holographic sets were teaching their ways and history- it was the achievement of man through the stars. Whole continents producing crops, walled rivers, lots of tour attractions being shown by the thousand. The visitors were able to buy food and drinks at the place, so Beria and Foxia had their lunch in a small snack bar. How difficult it is to understand all of this! From where we come, we are isolated from this marvelous adventure.- Foxia said. AB 721581 calls on them, by cellphone, wanting to know if they had candidates for abduction, and what measures they had taken to fulfill their task. The answer, given by Foxia, was: We are working on that! AB 721581 also calls on every one of them- they had only 29 days now to do their job. When calling Alalla, the man said: Go to hell! AB 721581 was very surprised to hear that answer from a person who was usually tame, so he went to Alallas room and said: I wish to know if you are in this mission to work in it or to play the rebel! We are here on a mission and we cannot choose to forget about it. Alalla said: Dear Abe, its only me that is against! I see no ethics in this mission! AB 721581 said: Ethics! Aristotle (384 BC 322 BC) posited an ethical system that may be termed "self-realizationism." In Aristotle's view, when a person acts in accordance with his nature and realizes his full potential, he will do good and be content. At birth, a baby is not a person, but a potential person. To become a "real" person, the child's inherent potential must be realized. Unhappiness and frustration are caused by the unrealized potential of a person, leading to failed goals and a poor life. Aristotle said, "Nature does nothing in vain." Therefore, it is imperative for persons to act in accordance with their nature and develop their latent talents in

order to be content and complete. Happiness was held to be the ultimate goal. All other things, such as civic life or wealth, are merely means to the end. Self-realization, the awareness of one's nature and the development of one's talents, is the surest path to happiness. Aristotle asserted that man had three natures: vegetable (physical), animal (emotional) and rational (mental). Physical nature can be assuaged through exercise and care, emotional nature through indulgence of instinct and urges, and mental through human reason and developed potential. Rational development was considered the most important, as essential to philosophical self-awareness and as uniquely human. Moderation was encouraged, with the extremes seen as degraded and immoral. For example, courage is the moderate virtue between the extremes of cowardice and recklessness. Man should not simply live, but live well with conduct governed by moderate virtue. This is regarded as difficult, as virtue denotes doing the right thing, to the right person, at the right time, to the proper extent, in the correct fashion, for the right reason. Hedonism posits that the principle ethic is maximizing pleasure and minimizing pain. There are several schools of Hedonist thought ranging from those advocating the indulgence of even momentary desires to those teaching a pursuit of spiritual bliss. In their consideration of consequences, they range from those advocating self-gratification regardless of the pain and expense to others, to those stating that the most ethical pursuit maximizes pleasure and happiness for the most people. For me, you are an hedonist. Right! Perhaps I am an hedonist! - Alalla said, while some other members of the group were approaching, at the sound of their voices. AB 721581 said: I invite you, Mr. Alalla, to complete your studies on this theme. I welcome your ideas, if any. The rest of the team laughed, not willing to produce more tension. Alalla said: Our mission is not humane. Possibly the truth is on your side, but move your inner eye to the end results: the missing of genes. If you, as clones, have offspring among your own group, that will happen? Schizophrenia and madness will sprout from your sons. That is the future of our colony on planet 935-5!- AB 721581 explained. Alalla didnt answer, but the rest were now convinced the mission was totally and absolutely necessary. Soon they were targeting people for abduction matters, especially men, as those were the needed ones back at 935-5 planet. The method will be one: ladies, you invite those men to visit your parents at the spacecraft landed on the Oredloro Space Port- we sedate and cryogenizate the specimens for further use.AB 721581 said to them. And it was so- specially easy task were men; they come to the spaceship boasting of their manhood in front of the beautiful 935-5 cloned ladies, and ends up frozen in the dark chambers of the spaceship. Ladies were always more timid and way too much distrustful than men; to take one lady aboard the spaceship was very difficult to obtain. In all cases, we dont really need many women! When the babies begin to appear on our society, they will represent the future, they could mate any other person without problems.Marson said. But we count, brother! You cannot wait peacefully for those babies to grown up and rescue your society of extinction! We also could add our sons and daughters to the equation, so we also need women!- Lamin said. AB 721581 added: I will be asking for technical learned women in search of a job. I will advertise- well have an office at downtown Oredloro well select women, well offer them jobs on our spaceship. They will refuse to fly away.- Marson said. We will tell them we are just repairing the ship- not cruising the Universe with them inside!AB 721581 proposed, and they were happy with the new perspective- except Alalla.

I object!- He said. Everyone looked at him, while Beria replied: Your objection is your personal option that we all respect. But we are in alien land and we can get into trouble because of you. He is a threat to us all.- Foxia commented. AB 721581 said: The option is simple: Alalla should return to the spaceship for the Rest of the operation. Alallas face darkened but he didnt say more- after the meeting, he was sent to the spaceship, where every Synthetic person on board was aware he couldnt leave the spaceship, for security reasons. Twenty eight persons are already on the cryogenic pods.- Marson said. Two more female mores to go.- Beria whispered. Its nice to be here. All the luxuries we knew on 935-5 are the standard way of life here.Marson said. A pity we should stay a little longer.- Beria said, jumping to the swimming pool. Male eyes were following her swift strokes with desire she has a beautiful body, for a Natural person. Marson climbed the stairs to the last and upper ladder, and jumped down to the water; he appears at the border of the swimming pool with a smile on his face. I wonder how you dare to do such nonsense! I cannot jump from so high a place not even if I knew how!- Beria said, who was very frightened by his act. You just close your eyes, count to three and thats it!- He laughed, while she smiled ironically- she knew there was more to it. Later, they walked by a park, and they saw a woman rubbing her left feet. What wrong with your feet?- Beria asked her, standing in front. I think I twist it badly! See that hole on the ground? There it was that I stumble on!- She said, with a grimace on her face. Marson touch her feet and after some examination, she said: Sorry, but I must say you broke a bone inside. The jogging lady looked terrified and asked: Are you sure? Are you a doctor? Im almost sure its broken, and no, Im not a doctor. The jogging lady cried a little, while Beria went to a safety cabin, where she told the Guards about the accident and place. Ill call the ambulance- the Security man said, when arriving to the spot and looked on that woman laying in pain. Before the ambulance arrives, the joggling woman said: Thanks you both! I am so troubled I dont know what to do. Marson gives her his cellphone number on a memory pill the ones they all had while offering jobs to future abducted people- saying: Call me in this number, to see how things go with you. She looked at him in pain, and receiving the memory pill, she said: All right, Ill call you. The ambulance landed near, and the Synthetic paramedics take her away in scant five minutes. A nice looking woman, dont you think so?- Beria asked her brother. Yes, nice girl. Perhaps she call on me.- Marson said. They went to a Theatre, and then to dance- they collected another male, who was invited first to see the spaceship and then to drink a mild somniferous; after that, his body was freeze inside the cryogenic pod, ready for the future trip. Early the next morning Marson receives a call from the Hospital General. Hi! Im the woman with the broken feet! Do you remember?- A nice voice said. Oh, yes! I remember. How is your feet?- Marson replied, seating on his bed. Plastered all around! You were right: the foot first dorsal interoseous, as some doctor said, was half broken! A month of immobility and it will be fine.- She said, smiling. What a pity! Can I see you at the Hospital?- Marson asked her, motivated by the fresh tone of that woman. Of course! Room six hundred and two, Hospital General.- She said. And your name is? Nerida!- She said. Nerida, I am on my way there!- Marson said. All right!- She replied, and they finished their conversation.

Are you going somewhere?- Lamin asked him, seeing he was combing his hear. Yes! Room 602, Hospital General! To see a young female with a broken foot that Beria and me helped yesterday at the park.- He replied. Fine, but take care.- Lamin said from his bedroom. At the busy street, Marson hailed a Flier taxi, give the address and in twenty minutes the vehicle landed on top of that building- Marson paid the fare while the in-built driver was saying: Good luck! He search for the room 602- it was a long and narrow room with twenty three single beds- at the end of the line, Nerida was at her bed, seated and smiling to him. So you come to see me!- She happily exclaimed. Yes, you looked so in pain that something in me is very attached to you now.- Marson said, trying to explain himself. Her eyes widened and then she said: Really? Well, I am better nowjust a little pain, thats all. Good! You will be here a couple more days, I suppose? Right! They need the bed for other person, I presume. I can be at my place the rest of the month. And where is that? At the Oredloro University students lodge! I am studying there, you know? Luckily for me, the end of the term was two days ago. I have two months before I begine the last term at that University- then Ill be a professional. Time enough. Right! And which is your name? In the memory pill you give me it only appears the name of your working place. Marson is my name. Marson. I am Nerida.- And she offers her hand; Marson takes it for a while, saying: Beautiful hands you did have. Thanks.- She said, looking to the corridor with embarrassment. Guess its time for me to leave- youre expecting someone? No! I was only looking at the corridor; I was mistaken by that man over there- it looks like my father, but he cant be here- he works at Oxiborion.- Nerida said. That is on the coast.- Marson said, remembering that location from a map. Yes, hes the Mayor there. Oh, then you are a Mayors daughter. Yes! But I prefer Architecture! Politics bored me- also, too much envy among them. But a Mayor is not a politician! Possibly to the people is not, but they are- voters puts them in place, and the lack of voters sent them home! So they are very worried about politics- all of the time.- Nerida explained what she knew. A nurse come into the ward with a tray; Nerida takes a medicine and the nurse walks to the next bed, performing her duty. Marson said: I expect you to get well. Ill be coming again, if you didnt mind.- Nerida looked at him gladly and said: Ill be delighted if you do! Possibly my family will be here soon- I called them early in the morning, telling what happened to me. I am almost sure they will ask me to be with them at Oxiborion! Of course, youll be better taken care at your home.- Marson said, taking one of her hands; she blushed violently and said: Why do you take my hand? I am sorry! But I had never met a person like you before! You like me too much.- Marson said. Oh!- Said Nerida, in the middle of a very tense moment. Marson said: Ill be going now. Get well! Thanks!- Nerida said, looking embarrassed. Beria laughed of him when Marson comes back to the Hotel room. But you are behaving like a very timid twerp! You must take control of the situation!- Beria exclaimed. How? I went there to salute her and all I want is to have her in my arms forever! And I dont know how to twist her feeling towards me.- Marson said, seating on a stool.

I wonder how it works the male brain! Some men knows and some others makes a fool of themselves in front of a loved one.- Beria said. You get to tell her your sentiments, your feelings after some time is passed! You cannot kneel in front of her asking you want her as your mate!- Foxia laughed, coming inside that room. You were sneaking our conversation?- Marson asks her. I overhear you! How silly quaint situation! Next time Ill be going with you- perhaps I could pave the way for you.- Foxia offered. He is in love without a kiss being given.- Beria said. Experience! Without errors its impossibly you could reach the goal.- Foxia said. There are lots of good looking men and you have nothing special to show.- Beria added. Thanks for the compliments!- Marson growled, and went out to the street. Hundreds of people were passing by, and half of them were women. He went to a Mall and bought sport clothessoon they will return to 935-5 and Oredloro city will be only a memory for him. Late into the night he returns to the Hotel, finding only Beria there. Oh, you brought a lot of clothes!- Beria said. Certainly well be going and if I dont prepare myself Ill be lamenting not to have acquired clothes while I could.- Marson said. Beria looked into the clothes and said: Well, I have bought quite a lot of dresses and shoes for me before! I guess Ill be giving more than half of it to my sisters at home. Marson realize he had been selfish, thinking only in himself while buying clothes and said: I guess Ill do the same! I really dont need so many clothes. Beria kissed his cheek and said: Good brother! Soon well be out of here, and none of us have a mate! Dont worry! We are young and there is a lot of time for love in our future.- Marson said, going to his bed. Beria smiled- Marson was a good person and she was decided to help- she finds the Hospitals address and where the Nerida woman was being treated- at seven oclock she went there an finds her bed. A nurse was cleaning the place at that time. Beria said: Hi, Nerida! Im Marsons sister! Nerida opened her eyes a little bit more, in surprise, and rising her right hand she said: Good to know you! Is he all right? Yes! Hes sleeping now- I come by my own free will, to speak with you.- Beria said, while the nurse finished her mopping and went out. Good. He is very attached to you! Hope he doesnt disturb you here- as hes an almost complete stranger to you. Oh, that doesnt matter! He seems to me a good person.- Nerida said. He is all right! Pity we are going to depart very soon. We are not of this planet.- Nerida explained. Oh, yes? And from where are you, then? A planet called 935-5. A very distant place, I assure you. Nerida smiled and said: You are not making a laugh on me? You speak like an Oredlorian. Yes, we speak the same language there. And you are not going back here, later? I mean- never more?- Nerida asked. Never more is a lot of time! I dont know if we are not coming back- it all depends of our jobsbut I wasnt coming to talk about stars and voyages- you see, my brother is very enchanted with you. Oh, why? He said to me that you are very special- thats why I come here to see for myself.- Beria said. And what do you think now you knew me? Certainly you are not a common woman- and you are good looking. Thanks- you too.Guess we are understanding each other! I will tell my brother to come- you are indeed special. Nerida laughed and they said goodbye with kisses on their cheeks. Marson was astounded to know of this visit his sister made in his behalf.

Thanks, sister! And how did she was this morning? I see she is recovering. Why dont you go there today? You could buy some candies for her.Beria said. Marson algo heard: She is good looking and I am sure you could obtain her favors if you try. Hailing a taxi flier, Marson gives the address and when arriving to the Hospital General, he walked to a neighboring store and bought a big chocolate bar for Nerida; also some flowers. At the Hospital, he walked briskly by the corridors, with a smile on his face until he was on her ward- he saw she was surrounded by various visitors: an elder couple, a young woman very similar physically to her (possibly her sister, he thought)j, and two young men, one of them possibly her brother or a close relative, but the other looks different- also in his clothes. That man takes her hand and she looked at him with a wide smile. Marson realize that she possibly was the bride of that man, and was about to leave the place, when she moved her eyes and saw him. Marson!- Nerida called, and released the grip on that mans hand, putting hers on the white linen sheet, waiting him to approach. Marson smiled and pretends there were nobody there, saying: How are you, Nerida? I brought you some flowers. And she takes the chocolate bar and the flowers with care, saying: Thanks! Father: he is Marson, the person who helped me on the park. He asked for the ambulance and since then he has giving me company while I was in this bed. They saluted him with grateful eyes, except the two younger males: his brother with indifference and the other man with reluctance. Neridas father said: Im Lion Feuchs, and Im grateful for what you had donned in favor of my daughter. When at Oxiborion, pays me a visit. Thanks you, Sir.- Marson said, receiving from him a card with an address stamped on it- at the old fashion. We are taking our daughter home. So I guess this is the occasion to say good bye to her.- The mother said- her mouth was smiling but her eyes were cold as steel. Marson said: Well, Nerida, guess this is good bye. Im happy now that your family is here and you are not alone anymore. Thanks for all that you had donned to help me, Marson.- Nerida said, touching his arm. Marson departed, and while he was walking by the street, in his inner self he was both happy and sad- happy because she was gentle with him to the last minute, and sad because she was leaving town in the company of her fiance He didnt want now to return to the Hotel right now- he looked at his watch an saw it was the thirteen hours of that day; he went to the river where he takes a tour on a boat; tourist were sightseeing the city from there, and he notices a woman who was staring at him. Hi! Do I know you?- He asked, knowing she did not, but it was to break the ice. Oh, pardon me! You resembles to a cousin of mine! I come from Saturn! My father runs a space line- he is the new general manager here.- That woman said. And how do you find this city? Precious! I am delighted by the so brilliant illumination you have here! In Saturn we live in Io, and inside very comfortable domes, but its nothing comparable with this!- She said, rising her arms up. Marson admired her breasts and said: Hope you could accept me an invitation to dinner? She looked at him and said: Well, sorry, but I dont know you! Certainly we are here on this tour- but I must say no, and thanks you for your invitation! Marson was very disappointed and didnt talk anymore with her- later the trip ends (at the same point of departure) and being almost late (21:30 hours) he returns to the Hotel and seeing Beria listening holographic news, he said: Nerida has a boyfriend and her father comes to take her away. Beria smiled and said: Are you sure? Marson fall on a couch and said: Yes, I saw them earlier- I was so depressed that I take a tour on a showboat by the river. Nerida said; I went there after you stumbled on her parents! And we had a talk. Marson didnt reply, as he was depressed for the whole situation.

Were you much interested in her?- Beria asked him, and Marson said: Yes! But I cannot fight Destiny. Are you sure? Go to your room.- Beria said. What for? Im comfortable here.- Marson said, looking at a program on the holographic set. Nerida is waiting for you there.- Beria said, signaling his bedroom. Marson jumped from the couch, and enters that room- Nerida was there, looking at some photos on a slide machine. Hi! I had been watching for you all afternoon! Where had you been?- Nerida asked with a normal voice. Marson approaches her, who was seated- he was so sure he was looking at a prank, a vision made with holographic controls, that when he really touched her hair he went dizzy for a couple of seconds. He replied: I cannot comprehend! You were so adamant while saying good bye to me! I was so sure you were gone! Nerida touched his arms and said: No, because I was wrong! I heard your sisters explanations soon after you were gone- my parents have a row with me, later- my fiance rejected me- all because I really understood one thing: I must get to know you better before you go so far I will be having not the opportunity of to know what you really represents for me in my life! Marson was sure she was going to be his woman for life, that he kissed her gently on her lipsshe responded and they kissed each other for a long time; then she said; I was certain I was doing the right thing! Now I know. He embraced her, saying: We will love each other for ever, my dear Nerida! Yes, Marson!- She sighed, and they kissed each other some more. At the next room, Beria was looking at the scene through a small spy-monitor, and smiled- the voice also was available through that gadget, and she said to Foxia, who was looking too: I was so sure the woman had absorbed my brothers brain, that I did all I could to join them for ever! You really did a good job, sister! I guess you use the special energy generator on her?- Foxia asked. Of course! That was the easy part! Her brain was in doubt, but with the radiation, she falls as a pigeon! The hard time was with her parents! They were very adamant in their decision of to take her home to that sea town! I could not use the machine on them- you know its worthless to reject people from one another.- Beria said. Yes, it only joins souls.- Foxia chuckled out. This two lovers will be happily together for quite a long time- I dont repent myself of what I had donned! Many a couple is made with these machines.- Beria said. Expensive machines, of course! Pity I had no man in which to use it.- Foxia said. Well be going out to find a couple of studs before we depart to our small planet in the sky!Beria said, laughing. You devil you!- Foxia said, stroking her hair gently- she was very fond of her sister Beria. Their task was simple as they lower the sight quite a bit instead of a high level of intelligence or a good position in life, they only choose a fine body with strength- of those, a-plenty at the gymnasiums and sport fields around Oredloro- two of them soon were happy to be invited to the spaceship, and soon they were sleeping inside the freezing pods, their veins full of cryogenic gas. We can go now; we have our pigeons in their cages!- Beria laughed to AB 721581. All right! We have our load of people Ill ask the people on leave to come back to our spaceship.- AB 721581 said. Alalla knew of it, and asked permission to leave the ship. I will be for every enraged with our society back at 935! You better let me out of this prison! He yelled to the Synthetic commander. If I let you here without a guard, what will became of you? Certainly I cannot do that- you can tell the Oredlorian authorities what we come to do here, and trouble will begin.- AB 721581 said, but as a Natural was more important than a Synthetic, Commander or not, a reunion was adjourned and everyone could speak at hearts content, because at the end of the meeting and through a election, the motion of Alalla will be decided. Alalla looked on the Naturals reunited at the mess hall, and said: Brothers and sisters! I am Alalla, whom you knew from childhood! I am not out of my senses, and every order they had

given me I had been following it- except this last order, to take prisoners from innocent bystanders here on Oredloro city, and kidnapping them to 935 planet, without their consent. I had been told once and again we are doing this because our society is in danger of degradation and degeneration of cells in the future- the scientific point I understand very well. But I cannot forget the ethics, and you seem forgotten we are humans and we have our codes of honor. AB 721581 said: State your point, Mister Alalla. We all are men of honor here. I doubt it, Commander! Your order to kidnap has broken the code! Now I ask you not to take me with you to our home planet! I cant resist the ashamed to be with you in this enterprise. Rather die in here than live on 935 seeing the kidnapped ones in pain.- Alalla asked. AB 721581 said: I give the permission to speak to whoever wants to say something. Marson was with his lover Miss Nerida, who had accepted to fly to 935-3, and said: I am sure they will be not in pain, Alalla. We are going to make their life as easy as possibly. Perhaps even to release them after the first newly born see the light. That is a wishful thinking you are stating here, Marson! You cannot decide for our government back at 935!- Alalla said. I say, if he wants to stay, let us permit him to do so! - Beria said, who was not so sure about the ethics of the whole operation. When we go from here, he could stay! He will be not a danger to us if we are not in this planet! We will be far and away when the government of Knapp heard his claim.- Foxia said. We cannot permit him to be talking to the government of Knapp! There are laws, and our government will be in a lot of trouble if this operation Stud is known by the Federation of Planets, our government will be blamed.- Lamin said. A poll was performed, and the answer was no. Alalla was immediately put to the pod, and AB 721581 said: well depart as soon as the authorization to deploy is accepted. Four hours later, the spaceship was starting the engines, and soon it was only a speck in the sky for the Oredlorians bystanders. Four days later, the whole of the Natural people was at the cryogenic pods, and the Synthetic personnel take full control of the spaceship. AB 721581 said: Poor Alalla! They will be ostracized when arriving to our planet. He asks for it! The future of the Naturals on 935-3 is more important than his ideals.- AB 30 said. CHAPTER # 4.THE ARRIVAL TO 935-3.Four months later, the spaceship model 93lko-39 landed on the field near the town- Beria was at the door lock when it opens, and she went down by the ladder seeing that the field was full of weeds and the big Presidential Spaceship was gone. Whats going on here?- Foxia said, at her side. AB 721581 told us there was no radio signals when we approach the planet! Seems they all evacuated the place long time ago.- Beria said. Lets see the town.- Marson said, passing near them with his bride Nerida. A pair of Synthetic males was way ahead of them, running to the buildings to see there was no danger for the Naturals. The street in between was empty- they saw several clothes and shoes scattered in heaps of garbish. At the Mayors house they saw skeletons of people, big and small. Marson seats on the floor to cry, while teardrops were running from Neridas eyes. What happens here?- Beria and Foxia cried out, while AB 721581 used sensors and other machines from the spaceship and said: There are some signals. Follow me! And six synthetic persons with guns on their hands followed him to the last house on the row- inside, on the floor, sixteen Synthetic people were lying, with their clothes torn apart.

Lets study one of these bodies.- AB 721581 said, and they carried one of the Synthetic bodies inside the spaceship. Two hours later, AB 721581 went to speak with Marson and the others at the street. We found what happens with the people in this town!- AB 721581 announced. Great! That will take them from the grave.- Alalla said, from a corner. I cant believe it!- Marson said, with red eyes. AB 721581 said: Supernovae. A supernova occur a few hundred light-years from us, and there was a mighty impact on the atmosphere; they suffer the increased incidence of cancer due to the far greater intensity of cosmic rays, and also from changes in weather and climate, and damage to ecosystems as the jet were aimed directly at 935, the people on the camp was literally toasted, while on the other side of the world the consequences could be really different. What? Are you saying that perhaps President Ogbort takes the Presidential Spaceship and went there?- Beria asked him. Possibly! As the Spaceship is not here- somewhere he must to be!- AB 721581 said, not really thinking it was so. We should be going there! Perhaps he is waiting for the bad effects to finish.- Rosa Bermen said, with her baby on her lap. Certainly. All personnel aboard! Were leaving!- AB 721581 ordered, and it was so. Once in the air, the scanners begin to take heed of the catastrophe- whole sectors where green forest were in the past, now it was a white and black desert- ashes transformed the rivers in mud and all of it was traveling to the seas. They circumnavigate the equator until the metal detector glared its red lights- something was down below provoking the alarm. Descending- everyone at your posts- maneuvers are going to be tough!- AB 721581 said, as the metallic object was in the bottom of a ravine. The 93lko-39 landed on a flat terrain, and the Synthetic personnel descended with ropes to the bottom of that ravine- the voice of AB 30 said, by the radio: There is a spaceship in here! Well, the half part of it, and its sealed! We are trying to open a hole in it. Take care! Could be people trapped inside.- AB 721581 said, thinking it was the big Presidential Spaceship, now cut in half. Twenty minutes later, AB 30 informed: Commander: its the Presidential Spaceship all right! We had found several people inside the Cryogenic Pods- hope for the better! Yes, I am.- AB 721581 said, looking stern- the Naturals were informed of this, but the prohibition to descend to the ravine was kept intact- AB 721581 was not willing to loose more people without a motive. AB 30 said: No way to start the de-freezing, Commander! Guess we must take one pod at a time to our spaceship and solve this problem there. Right, do as you said.- Commander AB 721581 said, rubbing his chin. Whats happening?- Beria asked him. They found the pods with people in them! But we must take the pods in here- no electrical power at that section of the spaceship.- AB 721581 replied. Hours later, the lid of the first of those pods opens and Mr. Ogbort come out, coughing. Sorry about the de-freezing, President! We were obliged to improve.- AB 30 said. Tamara! What happened with our people at our buildings? Are they OK?- Ogbort asked, while Beria helped him to seat. Sorry, President! No way! They are all dead.- AB 721581 said. Damn it!- Ogbort said, with his face against his hands- for several minutes he was like that, sobbing, and then he said: What a pity! We were flying around this mountains, searching for copper, when the whole sky turns to red and our sensors told us what was happening- in seconds we were at the pods, thanks to the recommendation of the main computer- I guess now its mind is fused. We dont know yet, President Ogbort! You were in the rear part of the Presidential Spaceship! The other part could be everywhere!- Beria said. We were twelve on the spaceship- pity on the rest!- Ogbort murmured.

The rest of the cryogenized* people soon was out of the ravine and revived on the 93lko-39; they were shocked to know the truth- that all the remaining lot of clones were disappearedburned to the ground. Later, the 93lko-39 revolved around the planet in different orbits, taking pictures, making maps and sensing the radioactivity, the ultraviolet rays and other scientific measurements, and at last, AB 721581 said: I recommend you all to be at the mess hall for the latest news. They all went there, and he said: With the data already recovered, and the use of our Main Computer, I could say this: the ozone layer is almost gone from this planet- life as it was will be impossible now. I recommend you all to think about this, and our President Ogbort must choose some other planet where to begin again his plans. Ogbort moved his head, saying: I am no longer able to begin again, Commander! I should retire from my post- and we should be coming back home before something more terrible happens. You are saying- that we should return to Oredloro now?- Beria asked, opening wide open her eyes. Yes, that is! If you take some Oredlorians with you from Knapp, it will be returned there; perhaps they will not know they were kidnapped and that they risked their lives in this adventure.- Ogbort said. We will do as you told us, father.- Marson said, and they all applauded, so Ogbort said: Commander: please set course to our home planet Knapp! We are going home! AB 721581 smiled and give the necessary orders; soon afterwards, the Naturals were already on the pods, except five of them, who were going to stay awake, for the lack of more pods. Among them, Ogbort was adamant to be included- pity for him, he died in the voyage of old age. AB 721581 was again in absolute command of the group- at the Oredloro Space field, he asked Marson to sell the 93lko-39 to have money- Marson sold the spaceship and lodged them all in an old but big house, where they all had a place to stay. I am sure we all are very efficient and well succeed in finding good works. But for the moment, we are here to stay.- Marson said at the first day on their new home. Beria said: We are going to work in what we like the most- for my part, Ill be a medic, so I will study at Oredloro University. I recommend you all to do likewise- dont stay out of touch, when you finally leave this house. Some months later, the clones were all studying and working at the same time; Marson was taking a course on Architecture, while his bride, Miss Nerida, finished his career and begin working immediately in a construction company. The whole lot of Synthetic beings was sold and the money was given to each member of the group, for expenses. The End. BREVIARIUM KNAPPIANUS XVI. Page Occurrence.
