Barack Obama recently completed his first hundred days in office

and already there are some people who have described his policies
as arrogant and dangerous. Obama has not been up to the mark in a
few areas.

Obama has set a poor example to other leaders by jetting here and
there over long distances in the short time he took office and so,
he is not doing much for the fight against global warming despite
all the hot rhetoric.

He has tried to escalate the war in another country far away from
home. A war initiated by his warmongering predecessor. The safety
of innocent civilians there apparently does not concern him much.

He has waxed lyrically about the need for auto makers in the US to
adapt to change, yet he has no solid plans at all for them, apart
from removing their bosses. The companies are still churning out
cars largely unwanted by the public.

Obama should now pay attention to some urgent matters to avoid

people continuing to brand his policies arrogant and dangerous.

These below are some of the things that Obama need to think about.

1)Stop coddling the big corporations of America and their backers.

No need to provide them with buckets of bail-out money. Otherwise
the future generations of Americans will end up shouldering massive
burdens. Go back to the small-time businessman, entrepreneur, and
the others who form the backbone of American society, not the big
wheeler-dealers.
2)Urge the American public to stay more at home. No need to travel
outside American borders. The fondness to go abroad contributes a
lot to such problems as global warming, pollution, cross-border
crime, drug smuggling and the spread of dangerous diseases.
3)Discourage American citizens from taking very young children or
even babies away from their place of birth. The actions by people
like Madonna are very irresponsible and portray a wrong picture
of a nation like America as a land full of child traffickers.
4)Stop imposing the American culture, lifestyle or habits on the
rest of the world. American fast food and fads like consumption of
prodigious amounts of carbonated soft drinks have caused problems
like obesity, diabetes and arterial sclerosis to rise greatly in
other societies. American films and videos have also polluted the
minds of highly impressionable young people eleswhere. They think
that American grass is way greener when it is really not so.
5)Stop supporting auto companies like GM and Chrysler. Their dated
products foul the air and encourage addiction to gasoline. Support
the new companies that propose to bring electric vehicles to the
masses.
6)Don't set a bad example to others. Stop flying to here and there.
Today, the world has the technology to do video conferencing, so
meetings could be held using this technology, no need to fly here
and there. This way, unwanted street unrests could also be avoided.
7)Put more efforts to combat human trafficking including those in
developed countries. The Western media ought to stop portraying
Western nations as utopia on earth. Many people have lost their
lives trying to cross the seas or oceans because they were misled
into believing that they could have wonderful lives in the West.
Also, other countries used the human traffickers to provide them
with cheap and expendable labour.
8)Help the UN to encourage all countries to practise good animal
husbandry techniques especially in farms that supply meat. It is
important to encourage animal farms to rotate their cages, pens
or coops regularly so that thorough cleaning of all these areas
could take place and also to set up proper waste disposal plants
for the farms. In at least one country, a proposal to set up a
ultra modern integrated pig farm using German technology and with
private funding was severly denounced by local politicians. This
kind of action should be noted by people like Obama and the UN.
9)The US should help the world to combat diseases by spelling out
clear guidelines for maintaining cleanliness. Taps in public areas
and on board all planes should always be washed with BOTH liquid
soap products and disinfectants. General purpose disinfectants
should be exempted from any kind of tax and its use encouraged.
10)Stop dividing the world into opposing camps. The decadent relic
left over from the days of the Cold War, NATO, is actually growing
in size, with the additions of Croatia and Albania this year, and
France, a country known for its hypcritical views becoming a full
member. NATO is a threat to peace and security in Europe and its
existence is a throwback to the old days of mutual confrontation.
11)Take another look at the so-called war on terror. Efforts to
keep up this false war has incurred numerous civilian casualties
and caused huge economic losses to countries such as Iraq and
Afghanistan and Pakistan. There have been no new cases of attacks
on US soil since 2001 and there is no need to provide any would-
be attacker with fresh excuses to conduct new attacks. The unrest
in Kabul and elsewhere should only be handled by their respective
governments and not Western armies.
12)Make a firm commitment to bring a lasting peace to the Korean
peninsula. Stop provoking the North Koreans despite the fact that
they are now extremely vulnerable. Deal with them strictly on a
basis of mutual respect & a desire to achieve reconciliation and
friendship that would be beneficial to all.
13)Have a tighter control over the US military. The military has
never being under full authority of the government in Washington
since the days after WW2. This has been most apparent in the case
of the US Pacific Fleet. The recklessness of its command setup in
charge of everyday matters is a concern to those who want to see
peace and security in the Pacifc. This recklessness is a reason
why other countries must always be wary of the Pacific Fleet.
14)Tackle crime comprehensively, especially transnational crime.
In our world of today victims of crime deserve a break.
15)Avoid the use of force or violence or threats to solve problems.
Many people today live in violent societies that are no doubt the
products of politicians who tried to emulate the Western way of
using force to solve problems.

Obama must do more and try harder & not just being merely good at
the rhetorics. Otherwise the claims of his detractors that he is
arrogant and dangerous might in the end be proven all too true.
