In 2012 the agencys behavioral health staff worked with children and families providing more than 3,100 counseling sessions to patients. Dr. Mitchell joined the Childrens Clinic staff in August, 2011. He has extensive experience in individual, group and family psychotherapy and sees patients at the Childrens Clinics pediatric office at 238 Arsenal Street and at their School-Based Health Center at Watertown High School. Dr. Mitchell received a B.S. from SUNY Brockport, and an M.Ed in Counseling and a Ph.D in Educational Psychology, both granted with distinction, from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff. He has an interest in rural healthcare issues and clinical supervision and has published several articles in professional journals, most recently in the Journal of Rural Community Psychology. He is a member of the American Psychological Association and a National Health Service Corps award recipient.
