ABSTRACT THE USE OF TOTAL PHYSICAL RESPONSE TO IMPROVE STUDENTS VOCABULARY MASTERY AT THE FIFTH CLASS OF MI DINIYYAH PUTRI

LAMPUNG IN 2010/2011 ACADEMIC YEAR By MIRZAWAN The purposes of this research were (1) to analyze the design of lesson plan using TPR method, (2) to analyze the implementation of learning using the TPR method, (3) to analyze the learning evaluation system on learning using the TPR method, (4) to analyze students vocabulary achievement using the method TPR. This type of research was conducted is classroom action research carried out in MI Diniyyah Putri Lampung. This research comprised 3 cycles. The data collection technique: observation, assessment sheet activities, and tests. The data processing includes data analysis, reviewing data, data reduction, data inference, and interpretation of data. The technique analysis is descriptive quantitative. These results indicate that (1) Lesson Plan in learning English vocabulary using syntax of TPR method. (2) There is an increased activity of student learning: observing, imitating the action, giving command, accuracy and speed of carrying out the instructions and asking question activity. (3) There is improvement in the quality of evaluation system with 20 multiple choice questions. The validity of the instrument at the first cycle (0. 31) low categories, the second cycle (0, 48) medium category , the third cycle (0, 63) high categories and the reliability of the instrument, the first cycle (0,47) low category, the second cycle (0, 65) high categories, the third cycle (0, 77) high categories. The level of difficulty at the first cycle (0. 27) easy categories, the second cycle (0. 32) medium categories and the third cycle (0,39) high category and distinguishing features at the first cycle (0,29) enough category, the second cycle (0:31) enough categories and the third cycle (0,33) enough category. (4) There is an increased students English vocabulary achievement in each cycle. At the VA class, the first cycle, the average score 62.8 enough categories. The second cycle, average score 67.3 enough categories, the third cycle, average score 73.9 high categories. At the VB class the first cycle, average score 65.7 enough categories. The second cycle with an average scores 69.0 sufficient categories. The third cycle, average score 74.0 high categories. In the third cycle of the research was discontinued because the value of all the students has already completed and the average value of 70.0 was achieved both in class VA or VB class. In other words, the four indicators that have been reached. Key words: TPR, Vocabulary
