F. Scholarship Requirements
An awardee must seek admission and enroll at any of the institutions identified by DOST-SEI. He/she should pass the qualifying examination for admission by the university at which he/she plans to enroll.

A. General Criteria of Eligibility

The applicant must: a) be a natural-born Filipino citizen; b) vbelong to the upper 5% of the high school graduating class; c) be in good health; d) be of good moral character ; and e) be a qualifier of the 2011 S&T Scholarship Examination. The following are NOT QUALIFIED to apply: 1. Those who have earned units in any postsecondary/undergraduate course 2. Those who have taken any DOST-SEI Science and Technology Scholarship Examination 3. Those who have applied for immigrant status in the USA or any other country

b) An awardee shall comply with the terms of the Scholarship Agreement to be entered into between himself/herself, parents or legal guardian and the DOST-SEI. c) After signing the Scholarship Agreement, the awardees name shall be included in the lists of scholars needing clearance from DOST-SEI forwarded to the Department of Foreign Affairs, National Bureau of Investigation and Bureau of Immigration d) An awardee shall maintain the grade requirement of the scholarship. e) Upon completion of his/her course, an awardee shall serve in the country preferably in his/her home region on full-time basis along his/her field of training for a minimum period equivalent to the length of time he/she enjoyed the scholarship.

A non-refundable test fee of P200.00 will be collected. Applicants should send postal money order instead of cash when mailing applications. The payee of the money order should be SCIENCE EDUCATION INSTITUTE. SEI can accept only cash, postal money orders, telegraphic transfer, certified cashiers and managers checks. PERSONAL CHECKS ARE NOT ACCEPTABLE. This is an aptitude test designed to measure abilities that determine academic and professional success in science, mathematics and engineering. The test is divided into two major components: 1. Intellective Scientific Ability; Quantitative Ability; Mechanical and Technical Ability; Linguistic Ability; Imagery; Inspection; Working Memory; and Sensorimotor Ability 2. Non-Intellective

B. Scholarship Privileges
a) Tuition and other school fees not to exceed P6,000/semester/term b) Allowance for prescribed textbooks and essential school supplies at P5,000.00/academic year c) Outright grant for prescribed Physical Education uniform of P500.00 for first semester of the first year only d) Free transportation for one economy-class round trip fare between permanent residence and place of study on reimbursement basis (for those studying outside of home province) e) Monthly living allowance for a 10-11month duration depending on the awardees scholarship category as full, partial or special scholar which shall be based on certain socio-economic indicators For those who will pursue BS Geology/Mining Engineering/Physics/Applied Physics and Physics Teaching courses, a monthly living allowance of P5,000/P3,150/P2,825 for full/ partial/special scholarship, respectively. For those who will pursue other S&T priority courses, a monthly living allowance of P4,000/P2,400/P2,200 for full/ partial/special scholarship, respectively. f) Group health and accident insurance g) Additional privileges during summer, if required in the curriculum, such as: Monthly living allowance during the period Tuition and other school fees not to exceed P1,500.00 Actual purchase of textbooks and essential school supplies not to exceed P500.00 (official receipts required) h) Post-graduation clothing allowance at P1,000.00 (Full Scholars only)

Where to Secure/File Application The application form can be obtained at the Science Education Institute, 3/F PTRI Bldg., Bicutan, Taguig City, Metro Manila; DOST Regional Offices; and Provincial Science and Technology Centers (PSTC) or Offices of the Congressmen. It can be downloaded also at the website, www.sei.dost.gov.ph Accomplished form can be filed at the Science Education Institute, or DOST Regional Office/PSTC nearest the applicants school or home address. Deadline for Filing of Application: 8 October 2010 (Friday) Date of Examination: 21 November 2010 (Sunday) 1st batch 7:00 AM - 12:00 NN 2nd batch 1:00 PM - 6:00 PM The Test Permit/s shall be mailed to the applicant or school principal for distribution to the applicants. In case the test permits are not received before the examination day, the examinees may check with the DOST Regional Office/PSTC a day before the examination and proceed to the nearest designated test center.
