Step 2
Here I've used an icon I found on a cool site, but ou can use whatever ou want.

Step 3
Select the Ellipse Tool (U) and create a shape like I did. After that appl a Gaussian Blur (Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur) with radius of 30p .

S ep 4
Create a new Folder name it Light Effects . Change its blend mode to Color Dodge , and move the ellipse ou created to this folder.

S ep 5
In order to create the sparks we will use the ama ing brush engine. Add a new la er, inside the Light Effects la er, set white for the color and follow the images below.

Step 7
Lets add some smoke. Create a new La er, call it Smoke . Change its blend mode to Color Dodge and select the Lasso Tool. Set 40p for Feather and create a selection like I did below. After that make sure that the foreground is white and the background is black and appl a Filter>Render>Clouds. Tip: Continue appl ing the filter until ou get the best clouds.

Step 8
Add some te t and using the La er St les again lets create a nice effect.

this tutorial sucked... not specific at all in the first few steps, couldnt even finish. if you are going to make a tutorial for BEGINNERS, make it for beginners not for experts...

I'm sick and tired of seeing people like you in the comment sections of tutorials like this. If you know even the very basics of photoshop, completing this tutorial is far from guesswork. This would not be an easy 10 step tutorial if he had to explain in detail where each tool was and exactly what it did. Anyway, from what I can see, he practically does that! If you can't figure it out from the steps given above you shouldn't even be attempting to use photoshop much less ranting about how much this sucks. It only sucks to you because you're an idiot. For someone who uses photoshop on a daily basis tutorials like this are an amazing time saver. If I know what I want something to look like I can see various techniques without spending hours upon hours trying to do something some one else has already figured out. I appreciate very much the work people like this do. There always some crying little bitch whining about how the tutorial didn't work for them because it didn't get specific enough for their lack of knowledge. Just fuck off you dumbshit. Seriously, if this simple lighting effect tutorial has you up in arms about how difficult it is; why are you even using photoshop? I know his post was like 4 months ago, but people like this just piss me off. Fucking idiot
