CLE 2013-2014 Full Name Kendrick Lee Section H4-F LC# 5

Note: This is your digital worksheet. You will find the instructions for todays module here. Perform the requested tasks using this Pages file. In other words, make it your own. Thank you!

Part One: YOUR Epistemological World Views Summarize here your findings (even if tentative!) about your philosophies of knowledge: Absolutist, Relativist, or Evaluativist?

However, these claims can also be disproved or contradicted by other experiments. Also, multiple experiments can prove the same point. Studying human behavior and emotions can be difficult, as it cannot be readily measured. There will be different points of view, as opinions will try to prove that they are correct. How a piece of art (literature, music, etc.) will be received will depend on the person evaluating the piece. What is right and what is wrong for a person will depend on his discretion. The beliefs of one person are the truth for himself, but another person's beliefs will also be true for himself.

Part Two: Ways of Knowing How important are the different Ways of Knowing in the different domains? Rank them from 1 to 5 according to importance, with 1 as MOST IMPORTANT. If you think there are other ways of knowing/judging, use the last column and specify. Domains Natural Science Social Science Art Morality Religion Sense Reason Perception 1 2 4 1 4 4 2 2 1 1 Language 3 3 4 2 3 Emotion 4 1 3 3 2 Others?

Part Three: AUTHORITY and/or EVIDENCE/ARGUMENT When you justify claims, how much do you actually rely on External Authority and Direct Evidence for every domain? Assign a percentage to each one per domain (Just make an estimate, so NO decimal points--e.g., 25.2321%!). Make sure both total 100%.

Science is backed up by hard evidence. Examining the evidence rather than believing an authority is more reliable. In studying human behavior and societal issues, both the authority and evidence gathered are equally important. Examining the actual piece of art is more reliable than listening to an authority figure. Evidence will help me make decisions and contemplate upon what I should do. It is more up to me, not an authority figure. An authority figure will make more reliable statements, as evidence is difficult to come upon in religion.

Why do you think there is no OPINION in Part Three? I think that there is no opinion option in part three because after considering both the authority and the evidence, it will be up to the person to decide on what to believe in. This would be the opinion, the person's take on the argument or situation. Some other learnings, comments, connections... It can be said that everything is opinionated, as every person has his own take on a situation. However, contradictory to this, solid facts also exist and therefore the truth is blurred. In the end, both might be independent of each other.
