Different Call Types

There are different type of calls that we use for testing. Out of these 3 types of calls are majorly used. 1) EVRC : This is normal voice call that we use in testing testing. This is like just dialing a number from the mobile mobile. This call can be tested for speech quality and cracking. It can be tested both for Origination & Termination. This type of call makes the use of a vocoder, transmits & receive at variable baud rates.

2) ) Markov : This a test call already y defined in the system. y Unlike a normal voice call, , the markov call uses full baud rate in forward as well as reverse link. It is basically a continuous noise sent and received by the mobile handset.

3) Data Call : This type of call is used to test the data call or the internet. For this we have a different call setup menu. This type of call usually compromise of different steps. Data call testing requires establishing of connection, type of service to test (http, ( f ping, ppp) ftp, ) and finally f disconnection the connection. For a data call call test we require a dual logical port phone. One of the port is used for making data call & other port is used to record the RLP (radio link protocol) data. Generally in a data call we see the throughput & SCH allocation.

Selecting the Voice & Markov Call Setup Menu

Call Setup Menu can be selected from here. Step by step procedures can be added into the plan. Each step can be given a different name. The Service Option or type of call can be selected from here. After selecting the call type the timer setting can be updated for each step and count can be selected.

Data Call Setup Menu

The Data Call Setup menu can be selected from here. The procedure for adding steps is same as that of voice call. The first step is always connect, in which the type of dial up service is selected associated to the modem attached.

Data Call Settings

In the next step type of data service is selected, which in this case is FTP. For this a ftp server address is to be given. If a login is required that is to be given. The type of file transfer is selected. The path of file in local system (laptop) is defined, as well as the path for remote file is defined in this setup.
