Child Discipline and Rearing

Proverbs 22:6 (KJV) Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. Deuteronomy 6:6-7 (KJV) And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: [7] And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. Proverbs 13:24 (KJV) He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes. Proverbs 22:15 (KJV) Foolishness is bound in the heart of a child; but the rod of correction shall drive it far from him. Proverbs 23:13-14 (KJV) Withhold not correction from the child: for if thou beatest him with the rod, he shall not die. [14] Thou shalt beat him with the rod, and shalt deliver his soul from hell. Proverbs 29:15,17 (KJV) The rod and reproof give wisdom: but a child left to himself bringeth his mother to shame. [17] Correct thy son, and he shall give thee rest; yea, he shall give delight unto thy soul. Proverbs 19:18 (KJV) Chasten thy son while there is hope, and let not thy soul spare for his crying. Proverbs 20:30 (KJV) The blueness of a wound cleanseth away evil: so do stripes the inward parts of the belly. Proverbs 20:11 (KJV) Even a child is known by his doings, whether his work be pure, and whether it be right. Hebrews 12:11 (KJV) Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. Colossians 3:20-21 (KJV) Children, obey your parents in all things: for this is well pleasing unto the Lord. [21] Fathers, provoke not your children to anger , lest they be discouraged. Ephesians 6:4 (KJV) And, ye fathers, provoke not your children to wrath: but bring them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord. Proverbs 30:17 (KJV) The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley

shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it. Hebrews 12:5-11 (KJV) And ye have forgotten the exhortation which speaketh unto you as unto children, My son, despise not thou the chastening of the Lord, nor faint when thou art rebuked of him: [6] For whom the Lord loveth he chasteneth, and scourgeth every son whom he receiveth. [7] If ye endure chastening, God dealeth with you as with sons; for what son is he whom the father chasteneth not? [8] But if ye be without chastisement, whereof all are partakers, then are ye bastards, and not sons. [9] Furthermore we have had fathers of our flesh which corrected us , and we gave them reverence: shall we not much rather be in subjection unto the Father of spirits, and live? [10] For they verily for a few days chastened us after their own pleasure; but he for our profit, that we might be partakers of his holiness. [11] Now no chastening for the present seemeth to be joyous, but grievous: nevertheless afterward it yieldeth the peaceable fruit of righteousness unto them which are exercised thereby. Proverbs 6:23 (KJV) For the commandment is a lamp; and the law is light; and reproofs of instruction are the way of life: Proverbs 15:32 (KJV) He that refuseth instruction despiseth his own soul: but he that heareth reproof getteth understanding. Proverbs 12:1 (KJV) Whoso loveth instruction loveth knowledge: but he that hateth reproof is brutish. Proverbs 15:5 (KJV) A fool despiseth his father's instruction: but he that regardeth reproof is prudent. Proverbs 13:18 (KJV) Poverty and shame shall be to him that refuseth instruction: but he that regardeth reproof shall be honoured. Proverbs 3:1-12 (KJV) My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: [2] For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. [3] Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: [4] So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. [5] Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. [6] In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. [7] Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord , and depart from evil. [8] It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. [9] Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: [10] So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine. [11] My son, despise not the chastening of the Lord ; neither be weary of his correction: [12] For whom the Lord loveth he correcteth; even as a father the son in whom he delighteth.
