Tennis

I. Introduction: Imagine the green hard court laying beneath your prince tennis shoes on a bright, luminous summer morning. People are counting on you and awaiting the results of your match. The pressures on. Age A. I was born to play tennis. 1.) I was a little shorter than the net when I started playing tennis. 2.)At first, I wasnt very good because I was only four but it came Naturally B. To this very day, I play with high school students and even college graduates. 1.)My sister has improved my tennis skills tremendously because I hit with her and like in any sport, if you play with someone better than you, you gradually get better. 2.)In both of the places I play tennis, I am in the highest level possible. III. Where A. Every winter I play tennis at Wimbledon which is an indoor court. 1.) These 3 courts are hard courts which I will explain about later in my speech. 2.)There used to be 9 courts but Palos courts bought half of it for volleyball and basketball. B. In the summer, I play at Crystal Tree. It is my country club. IV. Courts A. When I am at crystal tree, I play on clay courts.

1.)Clay courts come in all different colors and are extremely slippery. 2.)After you play on clay courts, you get very dirty. Clay is all over your shoes and your legs. B. Although I play on clay courts at crystal tree, I play on hard courts at Wimbledon. 1.)Hard Courts are made of cement and come in all different colors as well. 2.)They are the most popular court and used the most throughout the world. These courts are usually found at a nearby park. C. A court that I have not yet got a chance to play on is grass courts. 1.)Playing on grass courts definitely changes the speed of the game. It makes the ball move faster on its surface. 2.)Grass courts are almost like the putting green on a golf course. V. Pros A. This year Kim Clijsters won the U.S Open for Woman Singles. 1.)Recently she gave birth to a baby girl named Jada. Although the baby has taken up most of her time she still ended up winning one of the most known tournaments ever. 2.)She has been playing in tennis tournaments in Belgium-where she grew up- since the age of 6. 3.)Kim won a prize at the WTA awards and she has been voted player of the year.

B. Roger Federer has won five major singles titles and is ranked number two in the world. 1.)Roger Federers top competitor is the famous Rafael Nadal. 2.)He is from the small nation of Switzerland and he is the only player to win Wimbledon and the U.S Open consecutively for three straight years. VI. Conclusion: I hope you learned a lot about my favorite sport throughout my speech. Tennis is something I love to do and I cant live without. Next time youre at a local park, ask some friends to hit some balls with you. You never know, some day you might become a spectacular player just like me.
