History Builds the World I believe we can all learn from our mistakes and our successes to build

upon ourselves. This perspective can be viewed all over the world. Actually, what made the world today is composed of what happened in its past. Sure, some things may have not turned out for the better, but it created the world we live in today. The world isnt perfect, but nothing is perfect. All the decisions in our past, just like the world, have lead us to be what we are today. If one thing that happened in our past, or the earths past for that matter, we might be living way differently than we do now. A perfect example would be the thirteen colonies rebellion from Great Britain (pg 253). Think about what America is today. A free country where people from all across the nations come together is what it has become. If the colonists hadnt cried out for freedom, we might not even know America as we know it today! For if that hadnt happened, a whole new history from there onward wouldnt have played out. Everyone has heard of the World Wars. (pg 264-282) They were two toiling wars that scarred the world and as we all know, scars dont fade when they cut that deep. People often wish horrible things that have occurred never happened and thats what it was like with these two wars and probably many wars throughout history. If these wars hadnt happened, would the world be any lighter? Maybe, or maybe not. What I can say is though, that we have learned what pain and sorrow feels like through these types of events that cause the happier moments to become even more precious. Alexander brought together a great empire that mixed the ideas of many different cultures. (pg 64-72) He started mixing together ideas and those ideas sprouted to become even greater realities. Many of the ideas of the past influenced people to think a bit differently today. Sometimes when reading some of the stuff people thought about and what they created makes a person think that the people back then were more creative and wise than people today! But of course, that just gets them thinking and inspired to change the world. If Alexander hadnt brought these nations together, would we still have contrastingly different cultures today? Religion is a big part of history. It causes a person to question the laws of science and reason and has lead to many wars and massacres over it. There were the Arabs under Muhammad who killed any unbelievers of Islam (pg 116-119) and the crusades (pg 141-143) where thousands of people were killed in the name of god. Religious belief has caused wars, hope, and logical thinkers to ponder for over the expanse of history. What was said to happen in the religious tales like the rebirth of Jesus and the angel calling to Muhammad sparked religions that still are leaving their marks on the world today. Money has always stirred up problems ever since it was invented and even before then, the battle between the wealthy and the poor was always a struggle between the what haves and the what have nots . The idea of wealth and how to acquire it has changed over the years and it changes people. It causes a layer of greed in them and that greed has caused some people to change the world in their quest for having it all.

The present is made up of its history, and its history is made up of small inconsequential and large impacting events that have occurred. Time is an illusion, for it is just a ways of measuring occurrences and keeping them in check. The world is what it is today because if the past had not happened then the present of right now would not exist and the present actions of now will soon become the past but will determine our future present. So if you think about the worlds present today, you can only begin to imagine its past to create the world you live in.
