Human Trafficking State Philosophy and Citizenship

1. INTRODUCTION Human trafficking is a modern form of human slavery. Human trafficking mostly happened to women and children, but it may also possible to be happening to men. In Indonesia, human trafficking is a trade include not only sex trade, slavery, forced prostitution, illegal workers but also humans organs, which become a new trend, humans organs trade. According to OIM data on May 2012, the number of the humans trafficked victims had rapidly increase 70 per cent of the 3,780 persons which was trafficked when working abroad or domestically in Indonesia, 55 per cent were forced into humans slavery and 90 per cent of the total of the humans trafficked were girls and children.1 The data makes us consider that human trafficking now is increasingly widespread. There are many victims trapped under human trafficking. That many people did not know about the dangers of human trafficking. There are two factors to explicitly explain why it is so, which are the push factors and pull factors. The push factors are those shortages in money, health, education, awareness, love, etc., experienced by the victim, which made it easier for the doer of human trafficking in persuading victim with false promises. Materials shortage triggered mostly the easy persuasion on victims as it creates a loophole for the doer to inject their incitation. While the pull factors are those advantages offered such as high salary, good living condition, promising future, etc., which made the incitations more interesting for the victims, in this case women who are unsatisfied with their life condition and children who are still young and not aware of their dangerous surroundings. However, the victim of human trafficking not only children and women only, but also including men. Most of the cases, they are became the victim of sexslavery, even organ transplantation. The urgency to confront and prevent the continuation of human trafficking rises as the number of victims increases significantly. The people who are not aware of this matter should be protected and are made known to the risks of human trafficking. The government and the police as state apparatus and the people, especially we, young generations, should take in concern what are the role and contributions we could give in the eradication of human trafficking in our society. Pemoeda group take the chance to help the government to empower people about human trafficking. This project is the

form of continuation from our last project about human trafficking which focusing on peoples awareness about human trafficking among President University students, Cikarang citizens, labor, wider society, and our own group members through presentation and video. In this occasion, our group members would like to deliver our knowledge about human trafficking through a socialization. Our main project focusing in sharing the knowledge and explain people about the dangers of human trafficking, the modus operandi that happened and trap people into human trafficking. Our group members believe that through this mini-seminar, we could help other people to be released away from human trafficking, to build their awareness with the environment and people surrounding, and to deliver the way to deal with people who want to do human trafficking. Pemoeda group hope that this socialization could help the government to lighten their job about combating human trafficking and make other peoples consider together combating human trafficking. 2. STATEMENT OF THE PROBLEM What was the socialization about? When and where was the socialization held? How was the Socialization of Human Trafficking conducted? How was the response of the audience?

3. METHODOLOGY After presenting research on human trafficking, the lecturer of the subject suggests us to inform unaware societies for human trafficking is not widely known as crime and its variable motives approach to conduct its operation. Wandering in finding the recipients of our small seminar, we stumble upon Charity Community of President University that in trial to raise the living standards of a village nearly inside gate 5. However, firstly we have to conquer the labyrinth path of the village to get to a house that voluntary dedicate much of the space for teaching programs, its Mam Ernis residence, claiming the name of PAUD (Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini). Following the agreement we made to invite the children who are taking course and their parents in that house just intact 2 days before the day, we prepared Rp 65.000 per each of us as campaign materials. The money later being shaped to be: presentation utensil (picture, hats), price give-away (pencil, stickers), book donation (comic of human trafficking), parcels (biscuit and syrup), and recycled banner. Friday, July 12 2013, we gathered in the dormitory area at 9 A.M. ready to depart as in agreement, then briefing 9:45. Finally, at 10 oclock we go to PAUD. Arrive there at 10:30 A.M. What not astonishing expectation we had, the population gathered to listen to us were 40 of the children and 34 parents came, over the expectation. The presentation itself started at 10.45, introducing members of the group, socializing the motives of human trafficking (children oriented), closed with giveaway of souvenir. The parents know are aware of the human trafficking, that they actually find some cases related to be categorized as human trafficking and demands more of the socialization, they were really enthusiastic. The children listen carefully well, that they were telling stories in which one of the children in age of 3 just a few weeks ago, almost been abducted by strangers. The socialization end at 11:50 A.M.

4. CONTENT 1. What was the socialization about? The socialization of Pemoeda group was about human trafficking. We ilustrated the human trafficking story into a short story which we served by pictures. The story was about 4 kids played around without their parents beside them. Budi and Putri are 5 years old, Ani is 10 years old, Jongo is 7 years old. Suddenly came 4 men looking for kids to sell and asked them, Hi guys! What are you doing here? Do you want some candies?; then we warned to the participants to be careful if it happen. Then we also give the children games regarding to what we had socialize to them. After that we explain about the risk if the parents just keep them play around without any adult people supervise them. We shared about the information which we got from the policies, our analysis, and from our individual knowledge. From the question and answer session after the socialization, we saw good responds from the participants. A woman asked about how to prevent the teenagers from human trafficking, then we answered and explained more to the participant about how to save the children from human trafficking, how to act if human trafficking happen to them. Over all, we could answer all of the questions on sharing session as much as we know about human trafficking. 2. How was the Socialization of Human Trafficking conducted? It was conducted in a very explicit, informative, and interesting manner. Each of our group members was appointed a different task to create an efficient and effective socialization. Following is the explanation on what took place during the socialization: Introductory of the Concerned Matter Opening by _______________ (Two of our members that took the lead in the socialization, Karmila and Megawati, made a division of their explanation) Karmila for starter explained what was human trafficking and all its pull and push factors.

Megawati continued the previous examples by giving additional example of human trafficking towards young girls. The incitations which were primarily proposed the core weakness of the young girl, material advantages or money, mostly. Megawati also explained on how the young girls can confront it with critical thought and fast counter measures. Question and Answer Session Karmila opened the Question and Answer Session. A question was raised by Ibu Erni. It was, Due to the advanced technology development, many young girls have become victim of human trafficking activities. How should we anticipate it? Karmila again explained the possible counter measures the young girls can take. Then she continue by explaining the role the Kapolsek Cikarang plays in eradicating Human Trafficking. A switched made. Where Jimmy as equipment, Karmila and Megawati as main speakers, Mawar as group leader observed and controlled the socialization, Yanda as documenter, and Maria and Shirley as decorator and designer, gave our best performance in the socialization. 3. What were the responses? We are from "PEMOEDA" Groups has been completed our Finals Project about "Human Trafficking" concentrate in Baby or Underage people in Indonesia. Our effort while we were doing this project, we were all collecting money as an initial capital of souvenirs that we going to share to other people and the residents around us. Our Final Project that we have been planned are socialization or counseling about Human Trafficking for the entire resident around gate five Jababeka, Cikarang, Bekasi, Indonesia. When we were doing this socialization or counseling for all residents, which is children, teenagers, and their parents, we have a good attention from all of them and we are appreciating their respected of us. Some parents gave us a question related to this issue about Human Trafficking in Indonesia. In addition, we found an interested story from one of the parents there; she told us that she heard a news from television about the trapping that happened in the social media lives. This trapping is happened to the girls in one of social media, Facebook. She told us that the girls in this social media were acquainted with some man that she never met before. At that time, they made a close relationship where the end of story, the man whose the girl found in Facebook are invited her to meet each other, and when the meeting was conducted, those man kidnapped the girl and finally those girls is sold by the man that she newly know. This issue gave all of the residents especially to the resident that have children some warning alert to aware with their children. According to our group, the local residents of Cikarang that respect and listen about this socialization, should understand how addressing their own selves and help steer the children or their relatives who are still underage to be aware with

the surroundings and be careful with strangers who had known. In addition, according to our group, when we provide some questions to kids and teens and parents about Human Trafficking, they can logically answer that question properly and indirectly they showed when they understand what we socialized to them. Because of the way we are deliver the story about Human Trafficking that have been planned before, we see the enthusiasm of the residents about Human Trafficking. The children, teens and parents were listening carefully and happily when the presentation was given. Moreover, we gave some of the souvenirs that we provide to citizens and children and teenagers that still make them and all people around given the continued danger of a Human Trafficking in Indonesia.

5. CONCLUSION JIMMY LIE ATIPA JR. IR 3 2012 / 016201200007 This whole project had forged my knowledge back. I am familiar with this topic when I was faced to certain cases on human trafficking in the area of my hometown, it become our work group discussion back in the high school. From sociology points of view I recalled, Indonesia have been an easy operation base for victim abduction (as other developing countries) by the traffickers, because majority of the population (excluding the capital city residents) are still in gemeinschaft2 social system. With the impact of being amiable, the people tend to pose better social interaction rather than technology interaction, in sense of being friendly towards everybody, not being friendly also categorized as offensive in Indonesia. Recently on Friday 12 July, I felt the presence of hospitality by unknown residents of the gate 5 village. Even the day before the seminar, I was well welcomed, we just wanted to bring good purpose in hence for their knowledge they just gladly accept without hesitation. I am freely interacting with the children and parents there, they also being enthusiastically open to the discussion. What if I just playing truant with my good intention, yet fooling them to be part of the victim itself? Plugging in the motives essence I think my ways is possible, as this is the pattern on doing abduction; being good at starting looks, when they were not looking, that is the side of most abuse to human rights. To maintain order of the society, it needs law. Up until today there were no clear enactment of law on human trafficking enforcement and its definition plus kind of its doing (abduction, smuggling, taken letter of identity includes: password, visa, work permit). Most victims of human trafficking were human rights abused; they were treated unlikely as been deserved because they were only seen as thing that bought, though a portion of the victims gains successful life depending on their boss. International law still have not defines what is human trafficking and ways it can happen. Being wellorganized, out of borders barrier, unreachable by law; human trafficking has become modern business as the doers may flaws in the jurisdiction process due to the undefined law. Above all self-prevention-awareness is the only thing that may repel uncertain promising, success to be considered in worldly blessings never been reach through shortcut.

Strong bounds dialogue and interaction within the members, promoting hospitality attitude towards unfamiliar people to the society.

KARMILA RIZAL BAIN IR 3 2012 / 016201200081 After done researches, observations, interviews and down into society, I conclude that many people still lack of knowledge about human trafficking especially the society who are living not in urban area or low income family that often become the target of the doers. Only academic society such as lecturer, researcher, students in high education level, certain institutions, and people who have high sensitivity to human rights who have better understanding about the impact of human trafficking. However, the knowledge should be disperse equally. The presentation have done during the class, and last Friday, July 12, we conducted a socialization to residents near President University, gate 5, Jababeka. Surprisingly, the resident are very welcome and enthusiastic due to sharing knowledge about human trafficking that they only heard from television. One of mothers that attend the socialization told us that they never get socialization such as this issue. This kind of group society is very easy to trust people. What about if I deliver the socialization then get their trust quickly by being nice, and I approach them to be the victim? I am afraid that they not notice that this could happen anytime. Most of the victims of human trafficking are being abuse by the promise of well economic. The doer can be anyone, anywhere, as long as there is a chance to do so. To prevent this situation, need steady cooperation between the law enforcement and society. We could not always depend on the police for example; we should protect our self by seeking more knowledge and share them to others. Let spread the words! Overall, I learn a lot from this project and encourage myself to help more people to better understanding about the human trafficking, especially the environment surround me, and giving awareness those human rights should put as the top priority in our life.

MEGAWATI ROSALIO PUTRI IR 3 - 2012 / 016201200004 Human trafficking is a big issue even in international level. As the international relations student, we need to care enough with this issue because high percentage of the victim of human trafficking are sold to other countries. The purposes are various, such as for sex workers, slavery, organ sales, etc. From Pemoedas presentation and final project can be concluded that human trafficking issues still need more attention to socialized and share more. Because some people have less information about human trafficking, even some else do not know about human trafficking itself. From the Pemoedas observation, I realize that only the academic society and student in high level on education understand about the human trafficking. After the socialization to people around Gate 5 Cikarang, Pemoeda members group realize that this activity was great and gave much advantages to people around. Additionally with some data from Cikarang polices makes the socialization more worth it and interesting. This project used simple materials to socialize to the people. By giving human trafficking stickers and some gifts for the children, make the participants of the socialization more enthusiasm. The risk of human trafficking accident can be decrease by doing socialization or share the information for whole level of society. The goals of Pemoeda group were completed by done the project well. However, I hope share the human trafficking information would not just stop by this project. We need to share and care too many areas more.

Human Trafficking is one of problem that become a warning for us. Indonesia as the biggest country that have issues about Human Trafficking should be aware to this problem. Actually for the authoritarian that have an authority in Indonesia to manage the entire problem that happened in Indonesia. When I know the problem about human trafficking around my living area or around Cikarang, Bekasi, it is makes me realize that Bekasi is really lack of security in this area. Why this is happened? Why do not the police aware with this problem? Indonesia should be aware, should make the Human Trafficking problem as a biggest problem that must be handle by the police. We can see there are many police around us, but why did not they do their job carefully? Why the motto of making a safety feels in everyone heart did not happened in this area? There are a lot of question that come out from everyone about this problem. Actually, for me, the main actors that can cause the Human Trafficking always be the problem in Indonesia are the Police, in this time I do agree with all of my friends comment about the Human Trafficking issues in Indonesia, I do agree that Police in Indonesia did not do their job clearly. In addition, this is a warning for the Police to do their job well. I think my Groups already do our finals project well; we do socialization for the residents around Cikarang, to aware about Human Trafficking around us. We told them to save their own self, to reminds each other how to addresses, we told them also to be careful with the stranger people and do not trust a people easily. The responses from the audience that watching and listen to our socialization is good. They understand well, they keep the information and they tell the other people around them to be careful with this problem. Moreover, the last that I really want to say are, we should aware for everything that we have everything that we used. If we care to our self firstly, we will feel secure, but when we just do not care about our self, about everything that we used, it will make the bad people will come and become a bad situation. And for the police, they should be the role model of the residents around, they should make a secure feelings inside the residents build again and do not talk only, they should promises to do their best to save the residents and citizens in Indonesia.

NATALIA MAWAR DEWANTI IR 3 2012 / 016201200034 To our group concern, Pemoeda, the emergence to do socialization on Human Trafficking was based on the purpose on making it known to the society, that encompasses mothers and children in PAUD , Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini, located beside the SMA President but a little bit further inside, how increased the number of the human trafficking activities in Indonesia in recent years and what counter measures we can do not only in preventing it from happening, but also in confronting it when it takes place in our lives. To my surprise, nearly 100% percent of the mothers did not know what actually is the meaning of human trafficking. They just know the term perdagangan manusia and yet have no clear understanding of what it is and how dangerous it is in which that it is necessary for us to be aware of our society. The term was merely a term, it didnt mean anything to most of them. Gratefully with that surprise in mind, in my opinion, it was the right thing for our group to do the socialization of Human Trafficking in PAUD. What was needed for the society to know has been fulfilled through the socialization. The number of attendants which amounted to almost of 90 people, depicted the high curiousity the people had regarding human trafficking. A successful socialization that resulted the rising public awareness of human trafficking in the PAUD area. Not only the socialization brought benefits for the society but also did it brought benefits for our group members in terms of academic. I learned the importance of learning a specific matter needs the determination and will of ones self to support it. Learning it inside a group do brings better understanding and broader way of thinking for me. In conclusion, the socialization was a successful final project in its implementation. The danger of human trafficking and its counter measures has now been planted as a public awareness of the people in PAUD. And to that extent, the method of learning has provided benefits both as an individual and as a group for me and also the people in PAUD.

YANDA SWARES GITA IR 3 2012 / 016201200111 Last Friday, July 12th 2013, we conducted an event of socialization about human trafficking. As we know that human trafficking is the one of the famous problems that we often found. This event was conducted in Pendidikan Anak Usia Dini (PAUD) arena near President University, Cikarang. After all, we conducted this event not only for our final project. After the whole semester of State Philosophy and Citizenship study, we realized that so many problems that have not fixed yet. And, at least we can do something to make our region become better. Therefore, this human trafficking idea came up after we discussed and did research. Then, we agreed to conduct this event and made some research with some help of the police officers and student of President University. After we knew that the number of the human trafficking become bigger and we felt triggering to do this socialization. We want the citizen become aware about the situation and decrease the number of the victim of human trafficking. Human trafficking cases happened because economic social intention. Usually the victim is attracted by promising job in high salary. Actually they had been force to become sexslavery especially for girls. Not only become sex-slavery, but also become the target of organ plantation. Everyone should be careful and be aware with this problem.

Children and women are the main object that has potential to be trapped. Empowering through this socialization, we believe that people would begin to consider that human trafficking is happening near with us and surround us. Together we fight against and combating human trafficking. Stop human trafficking!
