Noteworthy Projects and Leadership Tasks D&D Chief Steward, WCH Role: Understand the work packages of each job site the D&D (decontamination and decommissioning) workers I represent are present. Attend and contribute a daily meeting in which we planned work and identified hazards. File grievances when necessary, however, I very rarely filed as I enjoyed a respectful and open relationship with both craft and management. Attend disciplinary actions on behalf of D&D workers. Hold my D&D accountable and give them corrective guidance to avoid discipline at the management level. Screen grievances. Call out overtime and maintain a list of each workers hours. D&D Working Leader, WCH Perform all functions of a D&D worker, as well as delegating individual tasks to each member of the crew, ensuring all aspects of the job are properly tended to, ordering materials, and maintain good communication with the supervisor to ensure the work package is being properly used during the evolution being worked. 209E Criticality Lab Crew, CHPRC Lab contained very high contamination and radiological levels. Performed characterization on all systems using various sampling methods; i.e., bore scope, using tools to cut sample piece from system, etc Once radiological and hazardous waste locations and levels were identified we proceeded to remove and decontaminate the systems of the building. Cut highly-contaminated glove boxes and hoods into smaller, more manageable pieces. Disposed of waste. Took part in design of the system we had to invent and build to cut and dispose of highly contaminated 21x3x5 plutonium nitrate slab tanks. Used many different cutting and decontamination techniques. 105KE Reactor (K-Basins), CHPRC Member of team that designed, did mock-up trials, and finally used the core boring system to drill into the side of the reactor and obtain samples of each layer of shielding and the graphite of the reactor itself. Decontamination of drilling locations. Setup of work areas. Building containments. Using instruments to gather contamination and radiation level s in control rod ports. Disassembly and demobilization of drilling and sampling areas.
