The role of media in the present society is indeed unavoidable.

Its role of educating, informing people about the happenings in and around the world is of great significance. People need to stay updated and media is the source that helps in this updating. The role of media is so important that it is considered as the fourth wall of democracy. But one also needs to remember that since it has such a great role to play in the progress of a country it has to be very careful in the execution of its role. The need is of a impartial, true media. Media plays a very important role in our lives, it is because of media that we are all aware of what is happening around us. Not only does it bridges the gap between the government and the the general public but it also provides us with the information about what is happening in the other parts of the world, the new technologies that is being developed, about inventions, disasters and almost everything. It is because of media that any kind of information is just one click away. When we talk about media, we are not talking about the electronic media only, it includes newspapers, magazines, radio, internet etc. Though it is true that electronic media is more prevalent and it has greater impact on the masses, but the role of other media cannot be neglected. There are some news channels and papers that give more coverage to unnecessary news to boost their trp but these channels constitutes only a part of a much larger body of MEDIA. There are people who take keen interest in watching these sensationalised news. so in my opinion, it depends on the masses itself, of what kind of news they are seeking. In short there is something for everyone. In my opinion, media is a very important aspect in a society where there's democracy. The common people have the right to know the working of government. People should be aware of the happenings around them. I guess a country where people don't know the happenings around them & the working of governance, that country cannot progress. In last 20 years India has progressed so much only because of media. The British were able to win over us because at that time the common person didn't know about the changes in their society thus Indians failed to unite amongst themselves to protest against the British. Media plays an important role. Its a mirror of the society. It's duty is to inform, educate and entertain the people but nowadays we see that media is not doing its duty honestly. Instead

of giving important information and educative programme it is giving emphasis to sensationalize the public. They are only trying to attract people to increase their TRP rating. They raise the matter for 2 or 3 days then they forget that and never try to get the feedback of the cases. the role that has been played by the media in the preset political system is immense. And it has rightly earned its position as the fourth pillar in any democracy of the world, more so in a country like India. But it has been my personal belief, that with the no. of channels that are coming up, and each one seems to be more interested in the TRP rating and their commercial gains, rather then playing the role for what it is meant for. Now the media seems to be more interested in who is getting married where, what is getting cooked there. Somebody is cheating on the other, etc. My question is, are these matters of national interest? The media needs to get above these petty things of creating national issues of matters that shoud not be give so much importance. yaswanth Today television channels and newspapers are making fast money by cashing on the news in wrong sense and wrong way. In the race to become more popular and to make money they have

broken all the limits media must follow while serving to build a healthy and progressive society. They have no respect for the sentiments and ethics of the people and land whom they serve to, with their immense power to influence the massses they just make judgment like a true dictator rather than a good advice of a true friend as they previously used to do. If it will be going in the future then we people have to think about the role of media in our life
