Announcement 4: July 16 GLENN Y MASADA Exam 2, Tuesday July 30 Signup will begin at 10PM on Monday, July 22 for sections 8:30-10:30AM, 1-3PM, 3 :30-5:30PM, 6-8PM limited to 15 students/section Click Click Click Click on on on on Calendar at top of page Scheduler just below Calendar above Exam 2 the section you want to sign up for and follow directions.

Format (like in Exam 1): no notes/reference materials 115 minute exam Part 1: Lecture/prelab materials : Labs 4-7 (approx. 35 min) Parts 2&3: Lab materials: Primarily on Labs 4-7 but circuits can contain se nsors/op-amps/transistors Major topics since Exam 1 Logic gates, Karnaugh maps, combinatorial circuits Timing circuits Flip flops, sequential circuits DC motors: speed/directional control Stepper motors: speed/directional control DAC/ADC, quantization, signal processing (sampling/aliasing) Control TAs will not debug your circuit points taken off if you need help with equipment Review Equipment Checklist sent previously on June 24 email several students used SYNC instead of OUTPUT on function generator in Exam 1.

Announcement 3: June 26 GLENN Y MASADA Please read the Monday Lecture 4 and come to the lecture with pages 7 and 8 printed out. I will be showing you how to develop Karnaugh maps and Sum of Produ cts expressions. Based upon questions asked during the lab, it is clear to the TAs that many students are attending the lab section without having read the lab. You must com e prepared. In preparation for Exam 1, I will have office hours on Monday, July 2 from 1 0-3 (aside from our lecture).

Since we were not able to cover MultiSim in Lab 1 (we will cover it in Lab 2), t he MultiSim simulations in Prelab 2 Assignments will not be due until you attend Lab 3 (note: Prelab 3 Assignments will be due at the same time). ================================================================================ ===== Announcement 2: June 12 GLENN Y MASADA General Announcements: 1. Remember the Open Labs on Fridays from 9-11. A TA will be available in the l ab to help you improve your skills in building/troubleshooting circuits, use of the equipment, and prelab/lab questions. Only components from previous labs will be available. Attendance is voluntary. 2. The TAs are available to answer your questions via email appointment (can ag ree to meet in lab as necessary). The tentative schedule of lab topics in the Syllabus has changed slightly (latest version repl aced previous one). Specific Announcement: Week of June 16 (Lab 2) I will be out of town for the entire week. Monday lecture will still be taught. Questions can be posed via email to the TAs or me. ================================================================================ ===== Announcement 1: June 5 GLENN Y MASADA 1) No labs week of June 2. Lab 1 starts the week of June 9. 2) Syllabus, lab materials (prelab/lab/reading/lecture), equipment manuals, and Monday lecture notes are posted under Files in Canvas (will not be using Blackb oard). 3) Bring your protoboard/breadboard to each lab. 4) Lab 1 (under Files/Assignments/Lab 1 in Canvas) Read Prelab 1 reading material, Prelab 1 Lecture, and Lecture 1: June 10 t o help you with the prelab 1 assignment. Prelab 1 assignment is due at the beginning of each lab section. Read Lab 1, print out and bring the Lab Report (last four pages of the Lab 1 document) to the lab. Answer as many questions as you can prior to attending the lab. Review, print out, sign the Safety sheet (under Files/Course Documents/Saf ety in Canvas) and bring to your first lab section. Exam 1: Tuesday July 2 times to be announced Exam 2: Tuesday July 30 times to be announced 8) Please read the Monday lecture notes before attending the lecture.
