Course Name: Numerical Analysis Course Code: EE2403 Credit Hours: 3 Instructor: Dr. Muhammad Sagheer Pre-requisite: Applied Differential Equations, Linear Algebra Consultation Hours: 8:00-10:30 (Tuesday)

8:00-10:30 (Thursday)
Course Objectives: In many practical situations, we can not necessarily find the exact and true solution of every algebraic or differential equation specially nonlinear ones, even after the proof of the existence of their solution. Should we give up in finding their solution? Definitely not. The main aim of this course is to help the students to find the approximate solutions of such equations. We also focus on numerical differentiation, integration and optimization. Course Learning Objectives: Following are the main learning objectives objective of this course in BS(EE) program.

To learn how to find the approximate solutions of different problems arising in science and engineering. To learn different techniques of finding approximate roots of nonlinear algebraic equations which appear in Electromagnetic Field and Waves, Microwaves, Computer Vision, etc. To get understanding of interpolation polynomials which are used in Adaptive Signal Processing, Computer Vision, etc. To learn curve fitting which is of wide use in Digital Signal Processing and Computer Vision. To learn numerical differentiation and numerical Integration which helps in Digital Signal Processing, Antenna Theory and Microwaves. To get command on finding the numerical solutions of ordinary differential equations. This is of great use in Digital Signal Processing and Control Systems.

To learn numerical optimization techniques which are useful in Pattern Recognition.
