MSS is used for span by span construction of continuous beams. Economically effective use is for viaducts with length of up to 250m. For MSS the great speed of the construction process is characteristic since it usually takes 11 days for completing each span. Both MSS girders are supported directly on bridge piers or on pier foundations. It makes MSS independent of geological and terrain conditions and allows for surmounting avariety of natural and man-made obstacles under thebridge. Underslung MSS is especially suitable for single beam bridge structures with either alinear or cranked bottom line. MSS superstructure consists of two steel box girders, placed under the bridge superstructure and supported by triangle brackets, fixed to both sides ofthebridge pier column. On the brackets are launching wagons with hydraulic equipment for vertical and horizontal MSS axis adjustment. Formwork for bridge beam and for side cantilevers is fixed to MSS beams and real adjustment of bridge beam geometry is realised by mechanical screw jacks. No other formwork operations are necessary before, during andafter launching MSS into the next span which speeds up the work procedures.
Cantilevering is asuitable method for building bridges crossing deep valleys or rivers by long spans, where other known technologies have their limits. Skanska has become an experienced contractor building these bridges in the Czech and Slovak Republics and in Poland.

FT is equipment used specially for concreting the bridge deck on composite bridges of steel andconcrete type. Usually, pier sections of the deck are concreted first and, after the concrete has hardened, the central sections are completed. Therefore two types of FT are in use pier FT and span FT. They are designed for bridges with spans of up to 45m but can be modified forshorter or longer spans if needed. Two longitudinal beams are of steel truss construction while Iprofiles are used as transverse beams on which formwork panels (FW) are suspended by thread bars. After the concrete slab has hardened, formwork panels are loosened and the FT is longitudinally launched in further position by use of hydraulic cylinders. Supporting blocks with sliding bearings are welded tothe upper flange of bridge girders and protrude above the deck surface. External FW (under side cantilevers) is launched together with FT while internal FW (panels between bridge steel girders) is launched independently on rails welded to the bridge girder webs.

The Skanska Post-Tensioning system is CE certified and comprises all parts andcomponents necessary for installation of cable ducts, tendons, and anchoring andcoupling of tendons made of 1 to 37 strands measuring15.5 (15.7) mm in diameter, and the strength of up to 1800 MPa. In acylindrical anchoring plate, each strand isanchored by an individual conical wedge. For internal cables, steel corrugated ducts areused and tendons are grouted by cement mortar for corrosion protection andcohesion. For external cables, polyethylene ducts are used along with cement grout as corrosion protection. The system complies with the Czech standard SN P 742871. Its technical specifications are in compliance with Article 4.4.- Anchoring, of Czech Government Regulation No.178/1997 Coll. , and with Decision No. 29/2006 of the Czech Office for Standards, Metrology and Testing, dated of 30 August 2006. Furthermore, the system complies with the requirements of Council Directive No. 89/106 EES and ETAG 013 Guideline, andwithCzech Government Regulation No. 163/2002 Coll. and Act No. 205/2002 Coll.

Problems with dismantling (assembly) of bulky loads under bridge structures are solved bythe heavy lifting system, which can be used in inaccessible terrains under bridges. This equipment consists of ahydraulic cylinder and mechanical self-locking equipment that facilitate anchoring the hydraulic cylinder. The equipment stroke depends onthelength of the suspension cable and is not restricted by the available space. Themaximum load is 400t. This technology is mostly used for movable scaffolding or whole formwork handling. Heavy lifting is top-notch hydraulic equipment that can reduce idle time and cut building costs.

We own technology for repair and reconstruction, which can lift structures to replace bearings and also lift bridge spans and avariety of other loads. Hydraulic cylinders aresynchronized according to requirements for accuracy and even stroke and they arecomputer controlled. This system guarantees cylinder stroke accuracy of 5mm per50m. Theequipment is comprised of ahigh-pressure pump (70MPa), hydraulic distribution ofcontrol units and ahydraulic cylinder. The equipment can work in temperatures of up to -10C.

Technical data: hydraulic cylinder hydraulic pressure ground anchor Astatic test of apile is to demonstrate that its loading capacity corresponds with designed load forces.
The load force is generated by means of asteel cap with 8 arms to which 8 ground anchors are clamped. By prestressing ground anchors the axial force is introduced onto the pile head. The value of the force is controlled by electronic equipment which simultaneously measures the piles decline. The test results are evaluated in accordance with the Czech standards. Construction of ground anchors is subject to individual design in accordance with geological conditions and applied force. Test equipment is adaptable for testing the pile on horizontally acting force, i.e. the bending effect.

Polymer mortar
Characteristics according to affirmative tests: Polymer mortar compression strength tensile strength electrical resistance modulus of elasticity
Lacunose concrete is used for drainage of rain water from the layer between the road surface and its insulation. Abitumen layer can be executed in 24 hours after the concrete layer was put on. This interval needs to be extended in temperatures under 20C. The mixture consists of CHS Epoxy 512, hardening agent P11 or P23, Si fly ash and aggregate.
Mortar is used as alevelling layer for installation of bearings, anchoring plates and in highstress parts or where electric resistance is required. The mixture consists of CHS Epoxy 5/2, sand 0/4, Si fly ash, thinner.

The SKANSKA-type road safety fence is intended for use on bridges with low traffic (SN743305) where the horizontal impact of pedestrians on the railing could occur. Safetyofvehicle traffic is ensured using adifferent system (retaining system).
32
SK MZIII Similar to MZI, but with columns and frames of L-shaped bars. This system is designed specifically for railway bridges. Fence installation There are two methods used for fastening columns to the pavement: 1. S ockets are formed in aconcrete base into which the bottom end of the columns is placed and then concreted with special mixture. 2. The column is fixed to the pavement with bolts via an anchor plate. The bolts are either sealed into bored holes or screwed into the built-in anchoring component. The plate sits on special mortar to allow for levelling and adjusting the column.

Expansion joints
Skanska EJ-type MZ 80J and 100J
Expansion joints comprise asteel part built into the concrete structure and arubber Vprofile which makes the joint water-tight. EJ are fabricated and delivered in accordance with the specific bridge design and assembly is ensured by trained staff on site. Working stroke for MZ 80 is 40mm, and 50mm for MZ 100. Built-in steel part is mostly fabricated of L-shaped profile, but can be also welded from steel plates. Underside the profile, anchors of transversal plates with reinforcing bars arewelded on. Steel upper blocks are of special F shape with achannel for rubber belt slat. The belt should be dismantled and replaced if damaged. Sidewalk part - the EJ is covered by an overlapping plate for pedestrian safety.

Protection barriers are installed for protection of populated areas against the unfavourable influence of noise produced by traffic and as bird protection against collisions with vehicles. Skanska supplies and installs barriers made of steel columns to which noise protection panels are fastened. The columns are fixed to the pavement with bolts via steel plates. Glassor polycarbonate panels are used as noise protection material. The panels are coupled tocolumns by means of L profiles with rubber sealing belts. The bottom edge of the panel isreinforced with astainless Uprofile. The upper edge is loose. The barrier height and column distribution varies by design.
