The CD that you have received contains the appropriate application software you have ordered, along with associated on-line documentation. e-FrameworkTM is accompanied by three documents, QAD B2B Commerce/Trading Partner Transactions (B2B/TPT) is accompanied by five documents, and QAD B2C Commerce/StoreFront (B2C/StoreFront) is accompanied by three documents. This guide is also on the CD. All documentation is PDF format. You will need Acrobat Reader by Adobe to read the documentation. You can get Acrobat Reader free from the Adobe website: www.adobe.com. The documents contain hyperlinks to make it easier for you to move around and find the information you desire. This guide also contains hyperlinks; you may find it quicker to view this guide from the CD.

e-Framework
e-Framework is an application development process with a core set of routines that simplifies the process of creating web-enabled business applications. It provides the functionality and infrastructure required to deploy a large-scale commercially viable software system over the Internet. This document guides you through the installation process. It is written for system administrators responsible for installing and maintaining Progress databases and servers, and programmers responsible for modifying the e-Framework product. This document assumes a familiarity with Progress and CGI-compliant web server software. A functional knowledge of the operating systems running on the installation

e-Framework Programmers Guide


This document describes the e-Framework architecture and how to use the product. e-Framework is a technical tool intended to help your programming staff implement web-based applications. To effectively use the tool, programmers must have strong Progress 4GL skills and introductory-level HTML skills. It is recommended that e-Framework programmers have a basic understanding of JavaScript and Internet tools such as web servers, web browsers, FTP, etc.

e-Framework Reference Manual


This manual describes all aspects of maintaining an e-Framework application. It is written for system administrators responsible for maintaining the e-Framework product.

QAD B2B Commerce/Trading Partner Transactions (B2B/TPT)


B2B/TPT is a web-enabled version of QAD's MFG/PRO. This tool is a supply chain management solution that integrates with MFG/PRO. This product is accompanied by five documents, which are described here along with the requirements for using them:

B2B/TPT System Administration Guide


This guide gives instructions for maintaining the B2B/TPT system. It is for system administrators and programmers responsible for maintaining MFG/PRO databases and servers. This document assumes a familiarity with standard MFG/PRO, Progress, and CGI-compliant web server software. A functional knowledge of the operating systems running on the installation platforms is essential. Standard MFG/PRO, Progress, and a CGI-compliant web server must already be installed for B2B/TPT to function as described in this guide.

Pentium 100 or comparable platform (Alpha, MIPS, etc.) with a minimum of 32MB of RAM.

Supported Databases
Progress Software offers native support for database-specific features, commands, and syntax for DB2/400, Oracle, and Progress databases. Developers can efficiently integrate WebSpeed applications with multiple database management systems (DBMSs) distributed throughout the organization. B2B/TPT requires a standard MFG/PRO schema. Other schemas can be supported through customization. Supported databases are sold separately.

Network Requirements

TCP/IP compatible network with a dedicated connection to the Internet. A 56Kbps or higher speed modem is recommended. In order to provide access to external users, the Web Server needs to be accessible from the external network.

Glossary
A
Application Messages Maintenance. This is used by e-Framework to create system messages to be displayed in the event of an error condition. Client Machine. The machine in a client/server configuration, often a PC, that runs the client session. Client Session. An executable running an application that accesses a server running a database. Client/Server. The configuration in which a client session runs on a separate machine from the database server process.

B2B/TPT. QAD B2B Commerce/Trading

Partner Transactions. An electronic commerce solution that allows MFG/PRO clients to use limited MFG/PRO functions over the Internet or an intranet without affecting the integrity of your MFG/PRO data.
B2C/StoreFront. QAD B2C Commerce/

Data Dictionary. This is a tool that allows the

user to query detailed table information.

e-Framework. A core set of routines and an application development process that provides the functionality and infrastructure required to deploy a large-scale commercially viable software system over the Internet. e-Framework Control Maintenance. This is used to turn specific features in e-Framework on or off. End item. 1) This contains detailed marketing information for both category descriptions and actual sellable products. 2) An entry in the catalog with no children is an end-item. Event Master Maintenance. This eFramework function defines validation and processing business logic events.

Catalog. This module contains an organized

presentation of the products sold by the store. The catalog presents marketing information. It should include detailed information about the product, graphical images, etc.
Catalog Detail Maintenance. This is used to

create end-items in the catalog.


Catalog Schema. The parent/child relationships that define B2C/StoreFront's catalog. The catalog schema defines how the B2C/StoreFront catalog is presented to the user at run-time.
