AL HAZMI, Nawaf, one of the five hijackers on American Airlines Flight 77, was
oroved for a B2 extension even though he was out-of-status at the time of
,,,,ng, and he stayed in the U.S. illegally after the date his visa had been
extended.

AL HAZMI entered the U.S. on 1/15/2000.
He was admitted until 7/14/2000.
applied for an extension (WACOO-223-50802) of his B-2 visa on 7/27/2000
^.lirteen days after his visa had already expired). WACOO-223-50802 was
approved on 6/18/2001. His extension was approved from 7/15/2000 to
01/14/2001. His extension was approved 5 months after the date that he had
been extended to. He was out-of-status as of 01/15/2001. He did not file any
other extensions to cover his unlawful presence from 01/14/2001.
