Step 2: For Applicants who are educated outside the US or Non-US Programs Register to CGFNS via online or by mail to verify your credentials
Verifying Education Credentials From Non-U.S. Programs Applicants who have completed LPN or RN education outside of the US must have their education credentials verified by the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS). Such applicants should contact CGFNS at www.cgfns.org for the application and instructions to complete the CGFNS Credential Verification Service for New York State. Please note that this verification process is not the same as CGFNS Certification Program (which is required for registered nurse applicants applying for limited permits). The CGFNS Credentials Verification Service for New York State licensure applicants is a process for verifying the authenticity of education credentials. The CGFNS Credentials Verification Service for New York State does not indicate approval by the New York State Education Department of the content of education. After education credentials are verified by CGFNS, they are then forwarded to and evaluated by the New York State Education Department. You will be advised in writing of the results of the New York State Education Departments evaluation of your education. In addition, the licensing examination administrator will be notified if you are eligible for the examination. Step 3: Register with Pearson Vue This site and Pearson Vue recommends all candidates to read the NCLEX bulletin before registering and taking the test. It can be found on the Pearson Vue NCLEX Homepage
Who is Pearson Vue?

Pearson Vue is the company that hosts the NCLEX. They run the testing centers and the computerized testing on a national level for the NCSBN. The NCSBN is the one who creates the NCLEX content, not Pearson Vue. Pearson Vue is also responsible for sending the Authorization to Test letter. They will only send it after receiving an approval from your State Board of Nursing (which you applied to in Step 1). The registration fee will be $200.
Register Online

Register Online with Pearson Vue here. Note: When applying online, make sure you choose the the correct RN or PN option! Also, providing an email is optional but recommended. If you provide your email, you will be able to receive your Authorization to Test electronically.

Your ATT will arrive by e-mail (if you provided it to Pearson Vue) approximately 4-8 weeks after you register. It may feel like a very long wait. Remember, after you turn in all the materials, your State Board of Nursing (from Step 1) sends approval to Pearson Vue (from Step 2). Pearson Vue then sends the Authorization to Test. You can check the status of both applications.
