EXPERIENCE
August 2013-present Reporter & Photographer, The Missouri Times (weekly political newspaper) in Jefferson City Covered Missouri state politics on a daily and weekly basis for The Missouri Times website and newspaper. Reported education issues, legislation and state associations. Utilized live coverage through Twitter to cover political press conferences and events held by the governor, attorney general and the speaker of the house. September 2013-present Reporter, Photographer & Designer, Sine Die Magazine (political magazine) Wrote feature stories on politicians, lobbyists and others involved in Missouri state politics, and photographed these people for the stories. Designed the entire magazine that featured Q&A, top 5 and lengthy stories. July 2013-present Freelance Photographer, Webster-Kirkwood Times, South County Times & West End Word Photographed a variety of people and events for these three weekly community newspapers in the St. Louis region. Assignments included: World Nake Bike Ride, the last day at the Webster Groves pool and the St. Louis Balloon race. May 2012-August 2012 Intern, The Telegraph (daily community newspaper) in Alton, Illinois Wrote general assignment stories including daily news stories, business features, general news stories, profiles and features for the Accent section. Shadowed news reporter, Sanford Schmidt, while he reported on Madison County court cases. Intern, St. Louis Magazine January 2013-May 2013 Produced general assignment stories for culture, dining, health and entertainment blogs on stlmag.com. Contributed feature stories for the print publications St. Louis Magazine, St. Louis Family Magazine and At Home Magazine. The Journal (weekly student newspaper at Webster University) June 2012-May 2013 Editor-in-Chief Acted as the final decision maker in ethical situations to determine content in The Journal. Communicated with readers (this includes administration, staff, faculty, students, the community, etc.) on content in The Journal and handled any grievances. Acted as layout and design editor for the front page and edited copy. Lifestyle Editor January 2011-December 2011 Designed the lifestyle section with an emphasis on photography and strong feature stories. Motivated and managed staff writers and edited their copy. August 2011-May 2013 Staff Photographer Photographed for the news, lifestyle and sports sections. This lead to shooting theatrical plays, sporting events, environmental portraits and major events such as St. Louis parade for Iraq War veterans in 2012.
