Subject: Biology Theme: Investigating the physiology of living things Topic: 6.0 Nutrition

Objective: Synthesising factors affecting photosynthesis Learning Outcomes: At the end of the lesson, students should be able to: Design an experiment to investigate the effect of light intensity on the rate of photosynthesis Moral values: Being cooperative, being honest and accurate in recording and validating data. Educational Emphasis: Science process skills- Observation, Communicating, Experimenting, Measuring and using numbers, interpreting data Manipulative skill- using and handling science apparatus and materials properly Instructional Aids/ materials: laptop, liquid-crystal display (LCD) projector, a few springs of Hydrilla sp., 1% sodium hydrogen carbonate solution, distilled water, 60 w bulb, 500 ml beakers, a boiling tube, stopwatch, thermometer, metre ruler, sharp razor, picture, drawing about procedure, whiteboard, marker pen, tables label, graph papers. Previous Knowledge: 1. Students have basic knowledge about the components needed for photosynthesis process. 2. Students have basic knowledge about the factors that affect the rate of photosynthesis

Form 4 Bio-score module Teaching Procedures: Stage Set induction ( 5 minutes) 2) Teacher shows a picture about people queuing for ordering food at a food counter. 3) Teacher asks students with these questions: -what can you observe from the picture? -who will get the opportunity to order food first? -why the person in the front of the line can get the food first? -what can you conclude from the situation about the relationship between distance of people from the counter and the time taken for a person to order food and get food? 4) Teacher explains about the picture and its relationship with the todays lesson. 5) Teacher intensity explains on the that rate today of 5) Students teachers lesson. listen to experiment is about the effect of light photosynthesis. explanation 4) Students listen to 3) Students respond to teachers questions.
