Death Penalty The death penalty, capital punishment or execution is the sentence of death upon a person by judicial process

as a punishment for an offence. Capital punishment has, in the past, been practised by most societies. This punisments are genrally given for seevere crimes like murder. In India it is granted as a punishment for murder under Sec. 302, IPC . In other countries it is charged for other crimes as rape, adultery, war against government etc. It is an issue of debate and controvercys all over the world. There are many pros and cons of this punisment. But the question is is it right to order death as a punishment. Is our legal system doing a right thing by killing a criminal instead of killing evil mind that gives birth to crime. Legal punishments were set up for retribution not revenge. But by giving a death sentence we kill the criminal but not the crime. Crime is born in ones mind because of the situations and family background of the criminal. We cannot eradicate crime by killing the criminal but by changing the criminal into a civilized person who realizes his mistakes. This can only done by changing the mentality of that person. In any case, frequent punishments are a sign of weakness or slackness in the government. There is no man so bad that he cannot be made good for something. No man should be put to death, even as an example, if he can be left to live without danger to society. Said by Jean-Jacques Rousseau. There are crimes of passion and crimes of logic. The boundary between them is not clearly defined. By Albert Camus. Sometimes a person commits a crime in impulsiveness and anger without thinking of consequences and regrets its later, these are crimes of passion, but crimes which are planned ar known as crimes of logic. it is important to set boundaries between these two . Because criminals od crime of passion are vunerable and should be iven a chance to life because they commit crimes in impulsiveness and passion of emotions. There are many cases in which innocent is hanged for the crimes he has never done due to lack of evidence. Death row is a nightmare to serial killers and ax murderers. For an innocent man, it's a life of mental torture that the human spirit is not equipped to survive. By John Grisham. It has a very great cycological effect on the minds of the family of accuced innocents .he himself is never able to forget the unpleasnt memories if he is saved by any chance. So at times death sentnce can have very bad impression on the minds of people.

If death penalty is abolished fully it can also increase crimes in the society, because people will feel that they can commit any crime because they wont be hanged for that. This can cause indiscipline in society. So it would be better if legal system finds a way in which death sentence is only given if there is no other way to make criminaal a good human being who wont attempt a crime in future for the better ment of society.
