System Description
Infinia Hawkeye 4 is a premium, all-purpose, dual detector hybrid SPECT/CT imaging system, all in the same footprint as a traditional nuclear medicine camera. The foundation of the Infinia camera line is the advanced, alldigital Elite detector technology with a 3/8 crystal. InfiniaVC, with 1 Elite detectors and 95 PMTs, offers imaging across the entire range of low-, medium-, and highenergy isotopes. Furthermore, the InfiniaVC systems offer an optional CoDeTM coincidence imaging mode for performing camera-based PET. The multi-slice, low-dose, helical Hawkeye 4 CT provides excellent image quality for localization and attenuation correction. Features of the free-geometry Infinia gantry design include: 180 and 90 orientations of the detectors for high scanning efficiency Upright and horizontal detector orientations for maximum clinical versatility An exclusive slip-ring gantry for advanced acquisition modes Multi-functional, dual-axis imaging table Real-time automatic body contouring Easy to learn, intuitive Windows-based user interface The fully integrated Hawkeye 4 CT provides inherently registered CT images for fusion with SPECT images as well as:

keV), and for both 90 and 180 detector geometries. Gantry Infinia features a slip-ring tomographic ring gantry, enabling power and rapid digital data transmission from the detectors to the acquisition station. The design of the slip-ring gantry permits continuous rotation in the clockwise direction, enabling acquisition of multiple sets of CT and NM data on the same table without relocating the patient. The gantry also provides for the following features: Automated detector radial motion (in/out), axial motion (around the ring), and variable geometry transitions between 180 and 90 detector orientations. Flexible design enables a variety of scanning procedures, including upright seated or standing patients and imaging patients on stretchers. The stationary gantry is secured to the floor, increasing tomographic center-of-rotation precision. Camera setup is performed interactively by the remote control handset and via userdefinable pre-programmed acquisition-specific home positions. Pre-set positions include collimator changing, 90 geometry tomographic cardiac scans, 180 geometry general or brain SPECT, or whole body bone scans. SPECT/CT can be used anywhere in nuclear medicine where specific localization of anatomy is needed, such as in oncology, inflammation, bone, orthopedic and joint imaging. Infinia Hawkeye 4 with Xeleris provides users the ability to fuse and review SPECT and CT images at the same time, providing more information to the physician than SPECT alone for increased diagnostic confidence. Hawkeye 4s CT unit was designed specifically for nuclear medicine. The CT acquisition conditions are designed to most closely match the SPECT conditions in time, patient positioning and resolution. With the ultra-low, adjustable mA and kV settings, this provides users with outstanding image quality at very low dose. Attenuation Correction Most commonly used in cardiac imaging, Infinia Hawkeye 4 provides users the ability to generate CT attenuation maps for the correction of SPECT data due to anatomical interference. For attenuation correction of SPECT data, the Hawkeye 4 CT acquisition conditions are identical during both phases, resulting more accurate image registration. Infinia Hawkeye 4 also allows users to adjust mA values between the range of 1.0-2.5 to optimize patient dose. Attenuation correction is equally effective for single-peak and multipeak SPECT studies (from 80 to 511

5122 matrix, and at a rate of 16 slices per minute. The tomographic scanning motion is composed of multiple sequences, which can be acquired in either a helical CT or axial mode. Hawkeye 4 also incorporates advanced CT reconstruction techniques for better image quality, featuring helical view weighting, WFOV correction, Advanced Artifact Reduction (AAR) and 3 user-selectable organspecific filters. Hawkeye X-ray Tube & Generator The X-ray tube is a fixed anode, oil cooled tube operating at a maximum voltage of 140 kVp and 2.5 mA. X-rays are generated on a Tungsten target. The X-ray tube is housed in a radiation shield to minimize the leakage of radiation. The main Xray beam exits the shield via the slice collimator, which directs the fan beam across the patient aperture and onto the CT detector. X-ray Parameters Value 1.0, 1.5, 2.0, or 2.5 mA 120, 140 kV 4 5 mm 20 mm 214 (Half-rotation plus detector fan angle) The CT detector consists four rows, each with 384 scintillators and photodiodes mounted on the Infinia gantry. The geometry of the X-ray beam provides 5 mm resolution for each slice at isocenter. CoDe Camera-based PET Option The optional CoDeTM feature enables camera-based PET imaging via a coincidence detection mode. This option is available with InfiniaVC systems, which provides 1 crystals and 95 PMTs for optimal positron emission imaging. CoDeTM is further enhanced when combined with Hawkeye CT option to provide attenuation correction as well as anatomic localization. Detailed technical specifications are provided in the CoDeTM datasheet. Patient Table A dual-axis path-through-gantry table is used for planar, whole body, and tomographic applications, allowing the operator to adjust patient position in two motions relative to the gantry longitudinal and vertical. A motorized table support on the gantry allows for the patient table to be adjusted in the vertical direction by the clinician during the acquisition set-up, ensuring optimal patient-to-detector proximity during the study. Whole body scans are easily accomplished with a cantilevered tabletop with

motorized translation for anterior and posterior scans. A large vertical travel range facilitates patient loading from wheelchair or stretcher via handset control. A low attenuation carbon fiber tabletop is covered by mattress pad/straps for maximum patient comfort. Automated, flexible and accurate positioning during setup provides ease of use, as well as manual emergency egress of the patient before or during the scan. Mobile design enables easy swiveling of the table away from the gantry on a pivot point at the rear. This makes it easy to image seated and stretcher patients, as well as perform dual-collimator exchange. Firm anchoring to the floor with locking pins and floor plates. No system interference for loading or unloading of patients with IV, EKG or other monitoring devices.
