MARIE HAMILTON PROPERTIES LLC www.SkyHarborRental.com 8 FUN NATURE THINGS TO DO

1. Cades Cove This 11-mile one way loop road will lead you to some of the most breathtaking views in the Smokies. Travel back in time and visit the many historic homes and churches. Want to see wildlife? Cades Cove is probably your best bet in the Smokies! The early morning and late afternoon are the best viewing times. Cades Cove is my #1 must do in the Smokies. 2. Roaring Fork Motor Nature Trail This 6 mile, paved, one way road takes you through some of the best scenery in the park. Beautiful mountain streams, old growth forest, hiking trails, and preserved historic buildings are just some of the things you will see. This is also a wonderful place for wildlife viewing. If you are lucky, you may catch a glimpse of a black bear! To get to Roaring Fork, turn off of the Parkway in downtown Gatlinburg at traffic light #8 and follow Historic Nature Trail until you pass the Rainbow Falls trailhead. Just beyond the Rainbow Falls trailhead is where the oneway Roaring Fork Nature Trail begins. 3. Clingman's Dome If you want to really see the Smokies, then Clingman's Dome is the place to go. Mountains as far as the eye can see. The hike up to the observation tower is only 1/2 mile, but it can be a tough one. It is very steep, but the trail is paved and there are several benches along the way to stop and take a breather. Once you reach the top, it will all be worth it! 360 degree views of the Smokies. If you aren't able to make the hike, the views from the parking area are just as good. 4. Newfound Gap Newfound Gap is a great place to take in the mountains. Be sure and stop here on your way to Clingman's Dome for some beautiful views of the Smokies. Here you will also find the Rockefeller Memorial, which lies half in Tennessee and half in North Carolina. It memorializes the support and $5 million donated by the Rockefeller family to help establish the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which was dedicated here by President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1940. 5. Ramsey Cascades, Great Smoky Mountains National Park Ramsey Cascades is the tallest waterfall in the park and one of the most spectacular. The water drops 100 feet and collects in a small pool where you can cool your feet after the 4 mile one way hike. The falls are wonderful, but the hike to get there is just a spectacular. It follows rushing rivers and streams for much of its length. The last 2 miles pass through old-growth cove hardwood forest with large tuliptrees, basswoods, silver bells, and yellow birches. Some of the largest trees in the park are located here. To get to the trailhead, drive six miles east of Gatlinburg on Highway 321 and turn at the Greenbrier entrance to the park. Follow the signs 4.7 miles to the trailhead. 6. Rainbow Falls, Great Smoky Mountains National Park Rainbow Falls trail is a 5.4 mile round trip hike to a beautiful waterfall. This is a true waterfall, with the water dropping straight down 80 foot off a cliff to the rocks below. The Rainbow Falls trail also leads to the summit of Mt. LeConte and the LeConte Lodge. To get there, turn off of the Parkway in downtown Gatlinburg at traffic light #8 and follow Historic Nature Trail into Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Continue past the Noah Bud Ogle homesite to the Rainbow Falls parking area. 7. Abrams Falls, Great Smoky Mountains National Park When you are visiting Cades Cove take a few hours to hike to Abrams Falls. This 5 mile round trip hike is considered moderate in difficulty. Although Abrams Falls is only 20 feet high, the large volume of water rushing over falls more than makes up for its lack of height. You may even see otters swimming at its base. 8. Laurel Falls Laurel Falls trail is a 2.6 mile round trip hike on a paved trail to a beautiful waterfall. Laurel Falls is named after the mountain laurel which blooms along the trail and near the falls in spring. This is a very popular trail and can get very crowded on weekends year round and everyday during the summer. Get there early to beat the crowds. To get to the trailhead from Sugarlands Visitor Center, turn toward Cades Cove on Little River Road and drive 3.5 miles to the trailhead where there are parking areas on both sides of the road.

MARIE HAMILTON PROPERTIES LLC www.SkyHarborRental.com GREAT PLACES TO EAT

1) Applewood Farmhouse Restaurant (Perhaps the best southern meal and experience you can get in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. The Applewood Restaurant is technically in Sevierville, TN but its so close to Pigeon Forge that we included it on the list as this is one place that pe ople continue to come back to on each visit to Pigeon Forge. The servings are large, so an insider tip is to split an entree with someoneyou can pay just a tiny bit extra to get more vegetables and believe me it is plenty for two people!) 220 Apple Valley Rd Sevierville, TN 37862 (865) 429-8644 2) Old Mill Pottery House Cafe and Grille This little gem is one of the favorite places to eat for locals. It sits right across the road from the bigger Old Mill Restaurant, but dont let the size of this cafe and grille full you. Its packed with incredible food and southern charm. Locals love it for the am azing food and also the lack of waiting time for a table. Its currently fairly easy to get seated quickly, e specially for lunch. This might all change, though, as more people find out about this place, so come enjoy it now! 175 Old Mill Avenue at Traffic Light #7 Pigeon Forge, Tennessee 37868 865-428-0771 3) Little Tokyo Japanese Steakhouse 2430 Teaster Ln # 212 Pigeon Forge, TN 37863 (865) 908-0555 Restaurant Reviews and Directions
