Introduction
1 2 Perform the steps as outlined in SW004 in Revision 5 of the Enterprise Archive V2.0 Service Manual (E-Library number DOC0060282 / 2016312-001). Then read and apply the instructions as stated in the section Loading existing Media below.

Loading existing Media

At this point the Centricity Archive RSMedia table should be restored from the most recent SQL backup (see job card SRE 001 - SQL restore for details). If "create backup media" was activated in the previous Centricity Archive configuration, Copy Media will exist next to Original Media. Both Original and Copy Media will have to be added again to the extended drive through MediaStor ("Allocate media to application pool"). Do not perform a FILE RESTORE task in DX Admin on either type of media at this stage! Leave the "create backup media" option turned off until you have completed media loading. Perform a quick scan in Centricity Archive after media loading has completed. Media that appear as FOREIGN in Centricity Archive's media table have either been created after the last backup of the RSMedia table that has been restored through SRE 001, or, less likely, they were indeed not created by this Centricity Archive.

Recovery of DX file stubs

Recovery of DX file stubs is a time consuming task, which requires careful planning. Engage L3/L4 support to set up a recovery plan. Legato DiskXtender finds files on media based on entries in the Master File Table (MFT) on the extended drive. These MFT entries are called "file stubs". When the original extended drive has to be replaced or formatted, the file stubs must be restored to make the files on the media accessible again. There are basically 3 different approaches: 1 By restoring the file stubs from a DX MFT backup This is potentially the fastest method. Depends on a successful creation of a DX MFT backup, which may not be possible in all situations. 2 By performing a FILE RESTORE task on all original media through DX Admin. This is the most commonly used method. 3 Through the Media import function on the Media page in Centricity Archive. This is the most time consuming and therefore least preferred method. The decision to take one approach or another must be made on a case-by-case basis: Note: Note: The Media import function creates a separate Media folder for each imported media (means a less "clean" result in comparision to to the other approaches). If for a particular FOREIGN a Copy Media exists with the same label, make sure the Copy Media is also allocated to the same application pool as the original; otherwise an additional backup will be created by Centricity Archive if "create backup media" is activated.
