Scope of Service: We serve patients of both genders and all ages who will undergo Operation. We provide Quality Nursing Care to all patients 24 hours a day. Almost 9500 patients per year submitted for operation. We maintain and preserve patients health, prevent complications, promote and support patients physiological needs. Operating Room Department Main 1.1 Layout of the Unit 1.1.1 1.1.2 Location: Receiving Room: Ground Floor Main Building Receiving area for patients coming from the ward or Accident and Emergency Department. For pre-anesthetic preparation of patients awaiting for surgery, administration of Spinal and Epidural Anesthesia and Insertion of Intravenous cannula. Communication station: Extension 1040/1042 Computer devices are available Intero-office memos are posted Room where surgeons write their postoperative surgical notes and orders. 2 telephones are provided: Extension - 1038

Types of Patients 1. Ambulatory seen from the Out-Patient Department or Accident and Emergency Department and admitted on or the day of surgery. 2. In-Patients admitted in the ward on or before the day of surgery. 3. Day Cases admitted during the day of the surgery and will be discharged several hours post-operatively on the same day. 4. Emergency and Urgent Cases patients come from the Accident and Emergency Department and may be directly brought to OR for surgery or admitted first in the ward and procedure done in few hours later. 5. Special Cases elective cases but scheduled after the OPD time or during Fridays. e.g. Cardiac and Plastic surgery cases.

Pre and Post Specialties Patients admitted in the OR Department for surgical intervention vary from surgical specialties as follows: 1. General Surgery 2. Thoracic 3. Cardiac 4. Orthopedic 5.
