COMMUNITY NOTICE: Field Artillery Howitzers scheduled to fire Oct. 21 to 22.

FORT BENNING, Ga. - Fort Benning will conduct heavy weapons training in the northeast quarter of the reservation Oct. 18 to Nov. 26. Community members may notice more sounds Oct. 21 to 22, as Field Artillery Howitzers are fired during required training activities. Fort Benning fires more ammunition than all other installations. The Maneuver Center fires 42.2 million rounds each year. All of this firing is necessary to train the greatest fighting force in the world. Every day, tens of thousands of Soldiers are deployed to combat environments, and the training they receive at the Maneuver Center ensures they are equipped with the skills necessary to achieve victory against our Nation's enemies. In the days ahead, Fort Benning will continue to abide by the laws that govern our activities while maintaining our strong relationships with our community partners. Our challenge is to balance our Soldiers' training requirements with the needs of the community. The upcoming firing schedule is listed below. We continue to review our schedules to determine where we can best reduce the stress on our community. The schedule for the dates and times of heavy weapons firing is attached. Please note training times may be subject to change.
