SEQUENCE OF LESSON Attendance: Ss will enter the gym and report to their attendance spot. Attendance will be taken and then Ss will go into the locker room to change for class. Transition: Ss will go into the locker rooms to change, and then come back to the gym.
Warm Up: Ss will lineup on the sideline and perform the following: Jog with arm swings across chest Butt Kicks High Knees Shuffle Karaoke/Grapevine Dynamic Stretching: Quad Stretch Hamstring Forward Lunge Side Lunge Transition: Ss will line up on volleyball court 1 sidelines and backline facing the court.

Warmup:

Instruction: Volleyball forearm passing is one of the most important basic skills required to be a good passer. It starts a teams play off an opponents serve or attack. A good pass is about the height of the antennae and in the front middleright part of the teams part of the court. Refining: Skill Cues for forearm passing Feet shoulders width apart and one foot slightly further back than the other Knees bent to a comfortable stance Shoulders down and forward over the knees with the back flat Ready stance: Arms bent with hands up at neutral position Passing form: Arms fully extended in front and away from the chest. Fingers should be on top of each other in a perpendicular direction, fold palms inward for hand position. Forearms must be faced out toward the ball Passing can be enhanced with slight movement with the legs, hips, and arms.

Activity #1

Transition: Ss will pair up and grab volleyball in 15 seconds. Activity #1: Pairs of Ss will line up perpendicular from the net and about 10 feet apart from each other. One student of the pair will stand at the net with the ball facing their partner. The student at the net will toss 5 balls (top of the net height) to their partner and then switch places/roles. After the first time through,

students will back up 5 feet and continue. They will do this a total of 3 times and then stop and hold the ball until further instruction. Transition: Teacher will split students by skill level into four groups of seven students. The higher skilled Ss will be on court 1, and the lower skill Ss on court 2 Activity #2: Groups will each be on one side of the court. Progression 1 - The game will start with one student from each group on the court at a time. Teacher will throw a free ball for each court. Student will get one contact to get the ball over the net, forearm passing only. Teams will play a game of 5. (Students must pick up dead balls) Progression 2 The number of students on the court will increase to two. Students MUST use two contacts and pass the ball over the net. Teams will play a game to 5. Progression 3 The number of students on the court will increase to three. Students MUST use three contacts and pass the ball over the net. Closure: Teacher will review keys points for proper volleyball passing form. Why is passing so important? What is some key things in regard to the passing form?
