Critical Thinking: The student will utilize analytical skills and creativity to solve problems. Accurately identifies a problem when it arises. Uses all available information to identify possible sources of a problem. Finds the best solution to a problem in a timely fashion. Global Awareness: The student will exhibit a basic understanding of the interdependence of global issues such as economics, politics, and the environment, as well as their application on a national, state, and local level. Explain global issues as they relate to his/her field of study. o Identify issues that affect the field of study. o Analyze and explain the effects of these issues on the field (e.g. changes in practice, product, market, business model, etc.). Demonstrate an understanding of interconnectedness. o Explain how individual and group actions affect others on the local, national, and international levels. o Describe how actions of one type (e.g. environmental) may have effects in other areas (e.g. economy). Information Literacy: The student will define the research topic, locate, evaluate, and utilize the best information to meet his/her specific needs. The student will clearly communicate the results in a legal and ethical manner, citing sources properly when required to do so. Clearly defines the scope of the question and identifies types of related information. Accesses information using well designed search strategies from various sources. Clearly judges accuracy and relevance of information and sources, including (but not limited to) the ability to distinguish between fact, inference, and opinion. All citations are formatted correctly and appropriately. Paraphrasing/summarizing preserves original meaning in students unique voice. Math Logic: The student will apply appropriate computational skills to solve problems and make decisions.
