WPBS WILL FEATURE LOCAL PRODUCTSON BUY IT LOCAL AUCTION WPBS-DT, the North Countrys PBS station, is showcasing over 200 locally made products and encouraging viewers to Buy it Local during their new Explore the Region auction Saturday, November 9 from 6 PM 11 PM and Sunday, November 10 from 4 PM 9 PM . The on-air auction will feature items from one-of-a-kind businesses that are an essential part of the distinctive character of Northern New York and South Eastern Ontario, Canada. Lynn Brown, President and General Manager of the station said, The buy it local initiative can have a dramatic impact on ourregion, economy, and environment. Together, we can create thriving local economy and a healthy way of life . Local items that were donated to the station vary greatly showcasing the talent and ingenuity of our region will be featured in four dierent categories; Artisan Wares, Travel & Recreation, Food & Beverage, and Local Interests. Buy it Local featured items include a twelve foot octagon gazebo from North Country Storage Barns, a handcrafted King size log bed from Adirondack Log Works, Scuba Lessons from Deep Down Divers and a certicate for an event in the Thousand Islands Winery tent. On-air samplings and demonstrations of local products will also be presented each night. The Explore the Region Buy it Local auction is also a fundraiser for WPBS-DT, a community resource dedicated to serving everyone through quality television programs, media engagement events, outreach projects, and involvement in the community.
