In 2001, the virtually unknown mega-billionaire decides
he wants to be mayor. We had just been attacked. George W.
Bush was popular. Candidate Bloomberg had the best of all
worlds: People thought he was a moderate –to- liberal Demo-
crat who was running on the Republican line for convenience.
