Dear parents and guardians, Maintaining a positive and open relationship with the community is of great importance to the Clark County School District (CCSD). As a precautionary measure we want to make you aware that the Southern Nevada Health District (SNHD) has informed us that an individual at Coronado High School was diagnosed with an active case of pulmonary tuberculosis (TB). The case is isolated in nature and the individual has not been on campus recently. Additionally, outside of the one confirmed case, no students or staff has shown any signs or symptoms of TB. We are working closely with the SNHD TB Treatment and Control staff to proactively take all the necessary steps to ensure the health and well-being of our school community. As part of precautionary and thorough efforts we have developed a schedule to test those who have had close, personal contact with the individual over a period of time. SNHD is currently identifying students and staff who require further testing due to their contact. The Health District may contact you to arrange an appointment with your child, if necessary. Testing will take place during school hours Tuesday, November 19 Thursday, November 21. There is no charge for this testing. Its important to note that students will not be tested without parental consent. If your child requires testing, a permission slip will be provided as part of any follow-up communication. While SNHD will identify only certain individuals for mandatory testing, all parents are encouraged to do what they feel is in the best interest of their family. If you wish to schedule a TB test for your child, please consult with your family physician or medical provider. To help answer any questions you may have, and to ensure you have all the support and resources you need for your family, we have included a link to the Center for Disease Controls website at www.cdc.gov/tb/topic/basics/. We wish to reassure our school community that CCSD and SNHD will continue to keep you updated with information as it becomes available. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we take these precautionary measures. If you have concerns and wish to discuss the situation further, please contact Haley Blake or Heather MacDavid with SNHD at (702) 759-1370. Sincerely,

Mike Piccininni Coronado High School Principal
