Located in the state of Tamil Nadu and is a beautiful town of Krishnagiri district, Hosur is the civil headquarters of a Taluk in the district and is located at a distance of 40 Kms south east of the Bangalore and 48 Kms north-west of the district. Located on top of a hill at Hosur, Chandira Choodeswarar Temple was constructed in the year 1260 by Thirupuvanamalla Barvatharaja Anthiyazhvar of the Hoysala dynasty. This temple is devoted to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati and Goddess Maragadambal. It has various Teerthams like Maragatha Sarovaram, Vrishabha Theertham, Pandava Theertham, Jambava Theertham, Shivagangai and Hanuman Theertham.
