Chapter I Executive Summary

Company Profile

Pastilioso is a small business serving deserts particularly pastillas, serving the kiosks segment of the restaurant industry of the Philippines. It offers variety of flavors such as chocolate, sprinkled coated and sugar coated. The business is located inside San Beda College, Manila, which will be a good location for new entrants because of the students who are willing to buy sweets such as pastillas for their desert. It is also operating online in order to attract and acquire more customers. Happy Sweets was developed from the brainstorming of Bastian Miguel Y. Lomongo, Stanly Noel C. Aguilar, Vincent Paul S. Pangan and Emil Marc Magallanes III who are fourth year Legal Management students of San Beda College, Manila. Pastilioso will not just sell ordinary pastillas but it will introduce a new style of presenting its product. The proponents added a twist to their product by adding chocolates and other flavors that will make the pastillas not just an ordinary desert to their taste.

Nature of the Product/Service Being Offered

Happy Sweets would offer variety of pastillas. Happy Sweets are made from the premium ingredients such as powdered milk, condensed milk, sugar, melted chocolate and sprinkles. We have unique products based on the features of our products. We made it more colorful so that customers will be attracted to buy and try our pastillas. We also put something new to our products through adding chocolates in your ordinary pastillas, because these are not your ordinary pastillas. The products offer satisfying service and serves as an energy booster for everyone.

Size and Growth Trend of the Market

The Food Industry is the most profitable industry in the world because food is a basic necessity to every human being. It contributes a lot to the economy through employment and sales. Based on the preliminary results of the 2010 Annual Survey of Philippine Business and Industry (ASPBI) conducted nationwide, with 2010 as the reference year, the Philippines had a total of 3,728 establishments with total employment (TE) of 20 and over engaged in Accommodation and Food Service Activities. The restaurants and mobile food service activities garnered the highest number of

establishments at 2,906 (78.0%) followed by short term accommodation activities with 691 establishments or 18.5 percent. Other accommodation recorded the lowest number of establishments with 7 or 0.2 percent only.
