BACKGROUND The National Council of La Raza (NCLR), the largest national Latino civil rights and advocacy organization in the U.S., seeks a Publications Intern for its Graphics and Publications department. This internship will provide creative, print production, and administrative support to the Publications team. This is an excellent opportunity to be a part of the dynamic Integrated Marketing and Events component of NCLR. This internship will require dedication of 20 to 30 hours per week. Duties include graphic design, data entry, and print production assistance as needed. Qualified candidates will work closely with the team to provide design support during the 2014 Annual Conference season, and to help maintain NCLRs publications archive. The ideal candidate will have technical, administrative, and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work cooperatively with all NCLR staff. Qualified candidates should be involved in graphic design, multimedia, or a closely related field. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Assist with graphic print production and graphic design support for print ads and other collaterals in a fast paced, deadline oriented work environment Support database maintenance and data entry, update publications listings Administrative Assistance Catalog, organize, and archive publications QUALIFICATIONS Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite CC Experience with the Mac environment Familiarity with Microsoft programs (e.g., Word, PowerPoint, and Excel) Experience with Flash is a plus Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain a filing system Must be able to work well both independently and with a team and have a professional attitude Must be able to write clearly and informatively Able to handle multiple tasks at once Able to accept and build on feedback and to receive constructive criticism Interest in and commitment to the Latino community, design for social change, publications process, and/or graphic design
