Lido Restaurant Winter Vegetable Soup

Posted by Rev. Carol A. Ingle (Raven)
Lido Restaurant Winter Vegetable Soup 2 cups sliced leeks, white part only, cleaned and sliced into 1/4-inch strips (from about 3 whole) 1/4 cup (1/2 stick) butter 2 sprigs thyme 2 bay leaves 4 1/2 cups diced boiling potatoes (from a scant 2 pounds), peeled and diced into 1/4 inch cubes 1 1/2 cups diced parsnips (3 to 4 whole), peeled and diced into 1/4 - inch cubes 1 celery root (about 1 pound), peeled and diced into 1/4 - inch cubes 1 quart chicken broth, more as desired Salt and white pepper 1 cup heavy cream White truffle oil In a medium heavy-bottom soup pot heated over medium-high heat, saute the leeks in the butter until tender, 3 to 5 minutes, stirring frequently, and being careful not to burn the butter. Stir in the thyme and bay leaves and continue to cook until aromatic, about 1 minute. Stir in the potatoes, parsnips, celery root and broth and bring the mixture to a good simmer. Season with one-half teaspoon salt and a pinch of pepper, or to taste. Cook until the parsnips begin to become tender, 15 to 20 minutes. Reduce the heat to a gentle simmer and stir in the cream. Continue to cook until all of the vegetables are tender, an additional 5 to 10 minutes. Remove and discard the thyme sprigs and bay leaves. Pure the soup until smooth using a blender or immersion blender. Strain the soup through a fine mesh strainer and season as desired with additional salt and pepper. Add the truffle oil, a few drops at a time, to taste. Ladle the soup into bowls and serve immediately. Serves 6-8

How to grow herbs indoors during winter

Posted by Rev. Carol A. Ingle (Raven)
How to grow herbs indoors during winter want a fresh supply of herbs all winter long? It's simple to grow them indoors. Purple Ruffles basil, lemon thyme, Kent Beauty oregano, and chives are happy growing together in a large planter, because they have similar cultural needs. By Doreen Howard Im potting up herbs this week to bring indoors so Ill have a fresh and steady supply throughout my long winter. Pots of chives, thyme, and tarragon turn meals into gourmet fare and my kitchen window into a green view. They save money, too. All you need are containers, the right potting mix, good light, and herbs that require similar growing conditions. A word of caution about selecting them; not all herbs grow well indoors. Cilantro and dill, for example, decline rapidly, even in a sun-drenched window. Both need to be started from seed every few weeks, because they dont regenerate new growth after being cut. Best herbs for indoors the hardiest herbs indoors coincidentally provide the widest array of flavors for cooking. Five herbs that thrive in a sunny window -- oregano, chives, mint, rosemary, and thyme -- will flavor everything from soups, salads, meat, fish, and poultry to teas and Italian foods. I like to group all of them, except mint, together in planters for windowsill display and ease of care. Mint does best in its own pot, because it needs extra nitrogen to build aroma and flavor in the leaves. Basil does well for me, too, in intense light; I grow it under plant lights with my orchid collection. Give all herbs as much light as possible. A south-facing window provides enough for most. Many east- or west-facing ones do, too.

Add a grow light or fluorescent fixture hung above plants to supplement light in dimmer windows. Leave lights on 14 to 16 hours daily in winter months to compensate for the weaker sun of the season. Use an inexpensive timer to turn them on and off. Plant herbs in a lightweight potting mix, with added perlite or coarse sand and add a pinch of lime. Most herbs prefer sweet soil with a higher pH. Sage is the exception. Because it likes acidic soil, add extra peat moss to its potting mix. Check plants every day, and water when soil is dry a half inch under the surface. Feed every two weeks with a balanced water-soluble fertilizer at the recommended rate listed on the package label. Indoor herbs grow slowly in winter months, so reduce fertilizer amounts to a quarter of normal from Oct. 15 until March 15. Tips for Success * Start with herb plants. Seeds take time to sprout and mature into usable-size plants. * Dont allow plants to touch cold windows. Foliage will freeze, and plants may die. * Plant herbs with the same cultural requirements in a single container. If they have different needs, pot them up separately. * Pinch back branching herbs such as rosemary to keep plants shrubby rather than leggy. Regular harvesting of leaves and stems also forces plants to stay shrubby. Never trim more than a third of the plant, though. * Remove flower buds from plants to keep them growing. * Mulch containers with coarse sand, small pebbles, or aquarium gravel to avoid gnat infestations. The insects will not be able to burrow into potting mix to lay eggs or rest. ----Doreen Howard, the Edible Explorer, is one of nine garden writers who blog regularly at Diggin' It. Guided Fall Meditation

Posted by Rev. Carol A. Ingle (Raven)
Fall is the time of year we take to rest from our summer activities. If you live in the northern hemisphere the days are shorter and evening more conducive to indoor activity, in particular Im thinking of catching up on reading all those recommendations from friends. To make use of concentrated reading it is the time to dip into your stash of spiritual books or those that carry a strong moral, reading about others experiences of what to avoid, especially. In this vein here is a guided Fall meditation for reflection Begin by preparing a spot where you can sit privately and undisturbed. If you use an altar set out a centerpiece of the changing leaves and light an orange or yellow candle. Burn some incense, I like sandalwood. Then fold your hands in your lap or place them palms up or palms down on your thighs. Close your eyes and begin even and regular breathing such as one count to breathe in and one count to breathe out. Do not hold your breath at any time. Regulated natural breathing is a way to calm an agitated body or upset mind, it moderates your feelings. After a minute, let go of counting your breaths, but keep up the rhythmic pattern throughout your meditation. Imagine you are walking along a well-worn path through an old forest. Pine needles underfoot cushion and quiet your steps until all you hear are birds singing in the top of trees. The bird songs are harmonious to your ears and you feel at peace and at one with nature. Occasionally a cluster of leaves gently float by to rest on the forest floor, waiting for winter to come, but for now forming a carpet of color all around. When the chlorophyll retracts from the leaves and back into the tree the real inner color of the leaves is revealed, just as our inner brightness is revealed when we let it shine through caring and compassionate acts. Along this path nature is leading the way in teaching us how to harmonize our lives both outer and inner: Outer through physical activity and inner through meditation and reflection. Now the path is opening to a meadow where you have a chance to sit and rest, feeling the suns warmth, just as we feel warmth through our sunny acts in the world. Enjoy these feelings before opening your eyes, taking a long breath in and slowly releasing it. Stretch out and go forth with renewed vigor, a bright attitude, a loving heart.

Gifts needs and wants vs made with pure true Love and intent..
Posted by haw
I know many have wants for Xmas.. but what is worth more is something made with Love and allot of thought toward that person that its made for. where an item bought at Walmart is just made and thrown out for making the company money nothing more .. people have to learn difference about wants and needs many feel as if they have to have because its said to be the latest thing.. but in long run can cause other problems but is no concern to the company .. but the people who posses these items like games.. peeling kids from them to do their homework or chores getting to bed on time.. I know I have seen it.. I am sure those read this will say they dont have this problem with theirs but you know others who may.. I am suggesting that this year I know everyone is crafty is some kind of way to try to make homemade items to give out. it is again made with love and pure intent for the person and when they have it , that energy is shared with them and all around them.. even if is a welcome to my room wood plaque with dry twigs and cones.. be creative , we have to let them realize that needs over seeds the wants.. the having of a handmade over corporate toys means more and more of a purpose it is a part of that one in your family or friends .. not someone you dont know across the ocean. hidden in a basement sweat shop to make items have no clue who you are.. think of the intent of those items being sold, by how they are made who is being used to make them and the energy around all that. I write this post now because we know its not long before the holiday again so you have time to think up something crafty to make and pass out.. examples. Fairy jar, Tarot or rune bags, dream pillows, wall plaques, wood box (alter box), personal journal, Bracelet, pendants and so on .. doesnt have to be a sweater or mittens that consumes allot of time.. but something they can sit on their desk year round and see and everytime they do they will think of the one who made it.. and is priceless in so many ways including the energy presented from it.. and if one gets mad and not like what they got .. dont be hurt.. expectations have takin over the Idea of gift giving its not gift taking and expecting.. they have to learn true appreciation and will eventually one day if not now. and for those with little money can make any of these objects above and still feel they have givin.. it is sad so many feel they have to give something big or expensive to make the person happy.. again is ones expectations and setting high limits on appreciation which is not right or fair. People have to learn sooner or later and it always seems later.. I am asking to make your mind up this year do something different and make a true gift , homemade, and means so much more then anything else bought.. If they frown, they will one day understand and look at it as a great gift when they do realizing the importance .. some are even life lasting for years on end.. Much Peace Shadow

1) THE GIFT OF LISTENING... But you must REALLY listen. No interrupting, no daydreaming, no planning your response. Just listening. 2) THE GIFT OF AFFECTION... Be generous with appropriate hugs, kisses, pats on the back and handholds. Let these small actions demonstrate the love you have for family and friends. 3) THE GIFT OF LAUGHTER... Funny pictures. Share articles, funny stories and funny greetings. Your gift will say, "I love to laugh with you." 4) THE GIFT OF A WRITTEN NOTE... It can be a simple "Thanks for the help" note or a full sonnet. A brief, handwritten note may be remembered for a lifetime, and may even change a life. 5) THE GIFT OF A COMPLIMENT... A simple and sincere, "You look great in red," "You did a super job" or "That was a wonderful meal" can make someone's day. 6) THE GIFT OF A FAVOR... Every day, go out of your way to do something kind. Helping elderly cross the road can be nice. 7) THE GIFT OF SOLITUDE... There are times when we want nothing better than to be left alone. Be sensitive to those times and give the gift of solitude to others. 8) THE GIFT OF A CHEERFUL DISPOSITION... The easiest way to feel good is to extend a kind word to someone, really it's not that hard to say, Hello or Thank You. ~Author Unknown~

Energy Cleansing Techniques

Posted by Whispr
Energy Cleansing Techniques This past month I have been traveling and working in different places. It has come to my attention that many people are unaware of ways to cleanse and protect their energies. So, this month Id like to concentrate on this important practice. This is something I teach in my five-day workshop. If you are psychically active or sensitive or work with people and their issues on a regular basis then this is probably one of the most important exercises to remember. We are all forgetful of this practice but like taking a shower in the morning or stopping at a red traffic light, remembering can save our skins. Here are a few ways to cleanse and protect yourself and your space. 1.The simplest way of cleansing is using thought. I always imagine light cleansing and protecting my personal space and the space I work in. I always say, No darkness can live in the light. Whenever you need cleansing either at the beginning of the day, before you go to bed, between clients, or when you enter a public space imagine light like a waterfall or a spotlight above your head showering down upon you and cleansing you all the way through your body on every level of your being. You will find a regular practice on this link. 2.Smudging is a good way of cleansing. Native Americans believe that sage takes negative energy up to spirit to be transformed. Personally I prefer to use a smudge stick made of sage rather than the loose leaves. Use a large feather to waft the smoking sage into your auric field and the space you in habit. Dried herbs are usually used but you can also use a fresh piece of sage and just move it through your auric field. 3.Incense can be used in the same way by burning a piece of charcoal and placing the herbs or resin on top. Once lit allow the charcoal disc to turn white before placing the incense on top. Also remember to place the charcoal in a fireproof container. I have a brass cauldron I like to use. There are many different kinds of incense but Copal is probably one of the best for cleansing. Again use a feather smudge stick to waft the energies into your auric field and your personal space. 4.Cleanliness is next to Godliness. Take a shower or a bath to cleanse energy. Salt such as Epsom salts are perfect in a bath. You can also use a salt scrub in the shower. Salt is a cleansing agent and is well know in the Craft as a protective agent.

5.Crystals can help protect and cleanse your energy. The most obvious one is quartz crystal, but I remember a lady coming to see me who wore a smoky quartz Vogel crystal. I couldnt get into her energy until Id asked permission of the crystal and it somehow checked my energy out. Amethyst is also a great cleanser if you work on a computer. Place a cluster on or need the computer to neutralize the electromagnetic energy it transmits. One the subject of computers you can also use plants to soak up the vibrations. 6.Although this is usually for grounding it feels like hugging a tree will help to protect you. 7.One day I watched a performance and felt some strange energy coming from one of the performers. I asked spirit to protect me. Immediately two people stood up in front of two either side of me, then someone came to stand behind me. I was protected from all sides. It is something so simple that we tend to forget but very powerful. So, if you feel that you need cleansing or protection just ask your guides for help. They might send a thunderstorm so just be careful what you ask for! 8.I use a wonderful gift from Aura Soma called the Serapis Bey Quintessence. It is in liquid form and cleanses both my auric field and my space. You can make a spray from water and aromatherapy oils such as rosemary, which is cleansing, lavender, also cleansing and protective, or any oil you intuitively feel will help diminish negative energy. 9.From a protective standpoint you can also use a blue bubble with lilac flames on its edges. These are the Guardian Angel colors so will help protect you or you space from harm. 10.Sound is an effective cleanser. Clapping your hands, using bells, chimes, crystal bowls, music, singing, anything that has a vibrational energy that can change stagnant energy helps. 11.Blessing is a simple way to cleanse and protect. You can say a blessing or prayer, you can bless water and infuse it with your light and healing and then drink it, or spritz with it or sprinkle it throughout your space. These are just a few suggestions to help give you some ideas of ways to cleanse and protect. I have some further information on the articles page. Youll find some energy exercises to help you if you work as healers, and a meditation to help bring in protective light, ground and center you for the day.

SHARING YOUR GIFT WITH OTHERS

Posted by Kate

Living Potential The gifts we are born with and those that we work to develop throughout our lives vary in form and function. Some we find use for every day while others are only useful in specific circumstances. Yet many times we overlook opportunities to share our unique gifts with others. It may be fear of criticism that holds us back or the paralyzing weight of uncertainty. Ultimately, we doubt that our innate talents and practiced skills can truly add value to others lives. But it is the world as a whole that benefits when we willingly share our gifts. Whether you have been blessed with the ability to awaken beautiful emotions in others through art or industry, or your aptitudes transmit more practical advantages, your gifts are a part of who you are. As you make use of those gifts as best you can, be assured that your contribution to worldly well-being will not be overlooked. Your personal power is defined in part by your gifts. To use your talents is to demonstrate to the world that you understand yourself and are truly attuned to your capabilities. Your earthly existence provides you with ample opportunity to explore your purpose, to utilize your skills in a life-affirming way, and to positively touch the lives of others while doing so. Yet you may feel that your gifts are not as valuable or worthy of attention as those of others and thus hide them away. However, every gift lying dormant in your soul has the potential to fill a void in someone elses life. Just as your existence is made richer by the love, support, friendship, aid, and compassion of others, so, too, can you add richness to their lives. Your natural ability to soothe hurt, inspire compassion, bake, dance, knit, organize, or think outside the box can be a boon to someone in need. As you embrace your gifts and allow their light to shine, you will discover that more and more opportunities to make use of them arise. This is because your gifts are a channel through which the universe operates. By simply doing what you are good at and also love to do, you make a positive difference. The recognition you receive for your efforts will pale in comparison to the satisfaction you feel when fulfilling your innate potential.

Multi dimensional perception, observation, presentation

Posted by haw
I many times myself set out to do a writing of understanding or a perception perceived in a random or common scenario. and many had been involved or seen such as I write. and when I write these I may add a touch of solution or definition to the core of the perception.. my perception.. some may agree some may not understand.. It took me awhile to understand. that my messages that come to me at times have Multidimensional meanings .. out of no where which I say is a Higher presentation hinted to me to make public and notice .. this way those involved in the same will know it has been recognized and in that they will know and feel if not they follow the perception and unknowingly add to a situation with their intents and motives or direction they take.. all I can do is make note of this recognition for those who see the message to help correct the over all issue with others or themselves. and with or If being caught up in a drama scenario and feeding it without knowing.. Then there are others who read it do not understand because they themselves have not experienced these sort of things.. yet or will not at all.. but are brought to awareness to what to look out for.. then there are those who can take my message and it come to them in a totally different light of meaning but yet still a positive message of positive intent. since we are so diverse and work in so many different ways .. my messages allow me to reach to all when possible. It does help when people know the poster and his intents.. makes it easier for them to recognize the intent behind it over all.. as it would for someone new speaking of a situation.. always 2 sides of a coin and we have to find ourselves at same time taking in a message and deciphering the cause of the post and what happened behind it .. due to not knowing anything of a person.. so then we have to generalize a basic reply of Truth .. to keep it simplified till more is known or told. My Perception can have so many meanings to another and thats great I like that they are multidimensional in understanding so even the most blinded or the most in knowing can take what they need out of it.. maybe one bit in the whole discussion that clicks with them as if they hadnt thought of it .. or forgot and take it to utilize in their work.. and will say those with the not so great intentions get the message also.. their game has been revealed and will and can easily be exposed by their actions and motives.. and when I write these allows others to see the signs.. its not hard to see simple basic facts of one trying to progress or one just trying to beat the wasp nest.. who knows those that read my writings can read it 3-4 times and each time mean something different.. thats pretty awesome.. Thanks to all ,Much Peace, Shadow

Shifting into Winter with Gratitude

Posted by Hedral
The trees and plants have laid down to sleep for a few months. My work outside is completed until Spring. My house and little hollow are prepared for winter. Daylight ends in the early evening. I am settling in, making peace with the season. For most of my adult life I have dreaded and almost despised winter. I blame winter for any discomfort, malaise, losses and inconvenience that occurred in the previous chapter to my life. My "Inner Guidance" has called upon me to explore the possibilities of this season like never before. I choose to process the real or imagined hardships that I associate with winter. To do this I need to acknowledge where I am in this moment. My life circumstances have improved immeasurably in ways I never expected. By contemplating each and everything I am grateful for; I realize that a lot of my attitudes about winter are influenced by the struggles, losses, hardships and discomfort of years gone by. I have locked myself in a jail cell of my own making..a jail cell of despising winter. I will begin consciously changing my perception of this season by reviewing my gratitude list everyday and employing all the tools I know. With Meditation, Reiki, Journeying I will continue to process the emotional pain that I perceive winter to brings me. I am ready for this. I will have the best season ever as I shift into winter with gratitude.

12 Great Decorations for a Pagan Yule Tree

Posted by Rev. Carol A. Ingle (Raven)

1) Crystals - just wrap some thin floral wire around them and hang them on the tree. The lights will bounce off of them and they'll look gorgeous. I especially like clear quartz; they remind me of icicles. 2) Snowflakes - what commemorates the winter season more? Either buy some snowflake shaped ornaments, or cut out your own out of paper. 3) Dried fruit - give your tree a woodsy, natural look with dried fruit. Hang slices of dried citrus- oranges, tangerines, grapefruit and lemons. Hang them in front of a light, they are translucent and the light shines through. They look like little slices of the sun. Dried apples are also great for the season, especially if you can cut a slice sideways showing off the pentacle imbedded within. 4) Cranberries - just string cranberries to create a beautiful, vibrant red garland to drape over those lush, green branches. Or, make a hole in them and stick and ornament hanger in it and hang larger ones individually. 5) Cinnamon sticks - either stick an ornament hanger inside of the small tube, or string them on a long length of twine. They not only look great, but will make your room smell fantastic. 6) Pomanders - create pomanders by pushing cloves into small fruits, such as lemons, tangerines or apples, and roll them in seasonings until they dry. Put a wire through them with a ribbon around the top and you've got a beautiful, scented ornament. 7) Stars and Suns - make them out of clay and a cookie cutter or template, or cut them out of heavy cardstock and paint glitter on them.

8) Animals - purchase some small toy or decorative animals, glue some ribbon on them or hook an ornament into them, and display some furry woodland creatures on the tree. 9) Birds - likewise, get some small bird statues. Glue some ribbon to the bottom of them and tie them on a branch as though they are sitting on it. 10) Pine Cones and Acorns - hang them as natural as you found them, or paint them to make them sparkle and shine. 11) Punched Tin Moons - reserve your aluminum can tops. Put them on some scrap wood and poke holes in them with a hammer and a nail to create crescent shapes, or make a pentacle design on them. Spray paint them silver first if you want them to shine.

12) Herbal sachets - cut a circle of lace, and fill it with seasonal potpourri or your favorite seasonal herbs. Gather it, tie it with a ribbon and hang it on the branches.

Witch - the Threefold Law - Karma

Posted by Rev. Carol A. Ingle (Raven)
As an eclictic witch (one who is not a member of any group and practices alone), I would love to meet others who have the same belief system. If there is anyone who would like to talk about natural cures, ancient recipes, herbal cures, essential oil cures etc., then please get in touch. The Threefold Law is a very basic belief and some refer to it as "what goes around comes around". However, it is so much deeper than that. "HARM NONE" is every witches motto and we must abide by this at all times. I truly believe that whatever I send out into the universe, whether good or bad, will return thrice. Just think about that for a moment. If I send out wickedness then it will boomerang back to me three times as strong - not good eh? Hence, it is my duty to only send good into the universe and to teach others about KARMA. I have written a multi-denominatinal book entitled KARMA - Change Your Life which explains the concept of KARMA in every religion (amazon). The "Thirteen Goals of a Witch" are; know yourself, know your craft, learn, attune yourself to the cycles of the earth, apply wisdom and knowledge, meditate, exercise your body, achieve harmony and balance, breathe and eat correctly, celebrate life, keep your words in good order, keep your thoughts in good order and, honor nature. A witch loves the cycles and rhythms of nature, healing, wisdom, harmony, love and creativity. We have a great respect for Earth, Wind, Fire and Water and our universal motto is to "HARM NONE". In my quest to teach others knowledge that I have gained throughout my life I wrote another book called Aromatherapy & Herbalism (the complete home users guide amazon). In this book I use ancient recipes, natural cures etc., in alphabetical order to help people to treat physical and mental illness. This is my way of sharing or teaching what I have learned from generations of healers and witches, some dating back thousands of years old. You don't have to be a witch to read this as it is written as a healing book for all and incorporates the use of flower remedies, herbal cures and essential oils which any Aromatherapist or Herbalist can use. As mentioned previously I am a celtic witch ergo some of my learning dates back to the picts of Scotland, Druids, Ovates and Bards. The celebration of life is done every minute I breath and a beautiful full moon or sunset blows me away. I sincerely hope that you have enjoyed this article and if there any likeminded people on this wonderful site. Love & Light Rochelle Moore

Working With Our Guides And Angels: Effective Decision Making

Posted by Bright Sorcerer
At some point in time, we've all been witness to somebody who has faced a major decision. In turmoil, worry, terror and desperation they've reached out to the God/Goddess/Creator/Universe - whatever one wishes to call the Divine Intelligence with a heartfelt plea: "Please show me a sign so I know what I'm supposed to do." Too often, however, many consider their request has gone unnoticed or totally ignored when the answer isn't immediately forthcoming. Believe it or not, if one's intent is sincere the answer ALWAYS arrives but is seldom recognized for a few reasons. 1) Feelings and emotions overshadow one's ability to be aware. With the focus solely on dealing with the problem or issue, we generally tend to disregard anything that doesn't pertain to our situation. This is not a deficiency or shortcoming but merely a type of defense mechanism. With our attention focused on our problem, we try to analyze it in a logical manner - which is left brain activity - when it is our right brain that actually responds to the difficulty in a creative way. This is why we often arrive at "aha" moments when we put the problem aside for a time and focus on other things. The suggestion often given to "sleep on it" utilizes this principle and can be very effective. Similarly, our guides or angels cannot speak to us when our mind is occupied with finding a solution. 2) The request is too general. We would not seriously consider calling up a place of employment, stating that we wished to obtain a position there and then hang up the phone, would we? Similarly, making a request to the Universe, without providing some guidelines will be met with the same results. In the case of our job request, you may be glancing through the classified section of a paper, a few months later and discover the company is hiring but you've given them no indication how you want to be contacted or even when. If we don't provide the Universe with the equivalent, then we have no idea how - or even if - our request has been answered. 3) We favor one solution over another. Too often, when one is desperate, we secretly wish to have our wants and needs validated. While we may pretend outwardly that we are open to whatever solution the Universe will offer, in the way of an answer, we're really hoping it will indicate our desire. This approach will often lead to disappointment and anxiety, especially if we think we know what is best for us and are just using the Universe to confirm this for us.

There is good news, though. If you've ever requested or considered requesting a sign to indicate a course of action from the Universe, Spirit or The Creator, you understand a fundamental truth and you will benefit from this article. The real truth is that we all have the right, as divine sparks of the Creator, to request to be given a sign to assist us with making difficult decisions. Let's take our request for employment, as in the example above. How could we improve on obtaining the information we need? Strangle enough, common sense dictates we will likely include the type of position we are looking for, provide a contact number and request - in our resume or cover letter - to be contacted at their earliest convenience. Aside from calling them occasionally, there is little more one can do but wait and hope for a favorable response. In many ways, making a request to the Universe for guidance is no different. For the purpose of this article, the method detailed below can be considered a SPECIFIC REQUEST TECHNIQUE, as opposed to a GENERAL REQUEST, where we do not include the essential details. By its conclusion, you will have the rudimentary skills needed to not only make a request for guidance but also how to recognize the message or answer when it arrives. I highly suggest that you experiment a bit to find what feels comfortable to you. These are only my suggestions but are based on personally using this technique literally dozens of times successfully. LET'S TALK SPECIFICS 1) Begin a journal. It is always a good idea to begin a journal or log when doing request work. It can be as fancy or as plain as you wish, as long as you use it exclusively for the purpose of recording your results and observations. As you become more familiar with the way your personal angels or guides respond, you'll find you will need some place to post observations of how the sign arrived and the personal feelings or intuition associated with their arrival. You will begin to notice consistencies and similarities, both within yourself and without and often writing about them for a later review can be very revealing. Be certain to leave at least a half page empty for any further comments you might have. Very often, you will have further observations to record at a later date or you may need to expand on a related situation. 2) Components of the request. To get the best results, it is essential to include the sign we wish to see, what that sign will reflect, as far as an answer, and a specific time period. I will give a brief explanation of each and then include samples of my own requests so you can see how it all ties together. a) The sign: It is essential that you ask to be shown something that you wouldn't normally see in an average day. Asking to run across a book (unless it's a specific book) to see a child walking, a bird flying or a car (unless it's very specific) are likely things you will run across during a normal day so they're not great requests.

b) The problem you seek guidance with. This aspect requires very specific wording so it's important that you take some time, before making your request, to write down exactly what you are seeking assistance with. If you can't express this, in very specific terms, your guides and angels are left to respond in a way you may not recognize or with an erroneous response. Remember, we're talking here about getting specific answers so you need to word it in a way that leaves no room for doubt. For example, asking for $100.00 is quite general so you might consider requesting sufficient funds to take care of a pressing hydro bill. Similarly, asking if you should go out with a particular person is very general so you might want to request to be shown a sign to indicate if it is in your highest and greatest good to pursue a relationship with a particular person, mentioning them by name. It is very important that any request that you make - that involves a decision - you include the phrase "in my highest and greatest good". This is extremely important to include because if further narrows down what we really need assistance with. After all, simply asking if you should go out with somebody, as an example, gives no reference or indication to what you truly wish help in deciding. c) Establishing a reasonable time period for your angels and guides to respond. The key aspect to this is within a reasonable time period. What you need to take into consideration is that, while you're waiting for your sign to arrive, you need to be extra aware so you don't miss it. Requesting to be shown your sign within 24 hours means you need to be on heightened alert, so to speak, for that full 24 hours. Also, it takes time for your guides and angels to set things up. Contrary to what many mistakenly believe, the hand of the Creator does not just reach down or wave a magic wand and give us immediate results. The Universe uses helpers - guides and angels - to do this. It is respect and courtesy to grant them a reasonable amount of time to fulfill their task. HOW TO DETERMINE IF A SIGN HAS ARRIVED There are a number of factors to consider in deciding if you have - or haven't - received your requested sign. While it may be disheartening or confusing, you will sometimes receive no answer - but that is an answer in itself. There is no simple explanation in determining this so the best I can do is list some of the observations that I've made, as a result of my own sacred request work. At the end of this section, I will include excerpts from my own request log so you can physically see how all of these pieces, outlined above, fit together. 1) They seldom arrive in exactly the same format or manner every time. It's important to be aware of everything around you during the waiting period. Depending on the sign you've requested to be shown, the guides and angels need to find a way to ensure they get the answer you seek and use a wide variety of mediums to do that. A TV program, a song on the radio, an overheard conversation, a billboard, a chance encounter, a book title or passage from a book, nature, a co-worker or boss, a street scene.

these are just some of the ways that guides and angels use to get the message to us. As you can see, they are widely varied because our helpers need to find the most direct, available and easiest means to adhere to the request made. Requesting to be shown an owl, as an example (and is included below) may not arrive flying through the air and landing on one's shoulder. You may encounter it on a nature program you felt an urge to watch, hear it mentioned in a song or even as a reference in a book that you happen to pick up. 2) Trusting one's guides is essential. This cannot be stressed enough. If you approach this type of work with an attitude of mistrust or uncertainty, it will be reflected in the outcome. Would you leave your child with somebody who you didn't trust? Of course not. If you have reached a point in your spiritual journey and development where you reach out to your guides or personal angels, grant them your trust so they can do their job effectively. If you have difficulty in this area (as I did when I first began) it is never wrong to take a few quiet moments and address them with your concern. Let them know you are new to this and would really like to be able to fully trust them and then request their assistance in dealing with it. Don't feel bad or uncomfortable in the least if you find a few tears streaming down your cheeks. This is a huge step to take for anybody because you are essentially putting yourself in the hands of somebody else. Depending on how personal the need is, it is understandable to be nervous and a bit frightened. You are making first contact with entities that have chosen to assist you on your journey and it can seem a bit unsettling. From personal experience, however, I can tell you - without any doubt - that they relish the opportunity to assist us. 3) Pay attention to your intuition. Very often, you will experience sudden urges to do something differently or out of character (within reason, of course) and it is vitally important that you follow that "gut feeling". These may include an urge to turn on the TV, browse through the library or book store, give a friend a call, eat lunch at a different place, take a different route home from work, surf the web, take a stroll in nature - this is hardly a comprehensive list but gives you an idea of the point here. Sometimes our guides need to place us so we're in a position to observe the answer to our sign request when it arrives. That means we need to pay attention to sudden urges. If those urges, however, include actions that are questionable, morally inappropriate or have the potential to cause injury to yourself or another, they are NOT from your guides. They will NEVER demand that you violate your morals or ethics. Their job is to provide you with guidance and direction so you can grow and learn spiritually and they take their duty and your trust very seriously. 4) Examine the circumstances that lead you to discovering a possible answer to your request. This has been one of the most important aspects for me in determining if the correct sign has arrived. Considerations include:

a) what activity one was engaged in at the time, b) if it arrived as the result of following a strange inner urge to do something differently or even c) examining the possibilities associated with seeing your sign in the location it was observed. As an example, you request to see a spinning earth (I've included exactly that one below) to indicate if a course of action is in your greatest and highest good, and feel an uncharacteristic urge to turn on the TV at a very specific time. You encounter a program that covers how a factory makes globes of the earth - it doesn't take much imagination or thinking to know, beyond doubt, that your guides have responded to your request. Observe the circumstances leading up to and surrounding your possible answer being manifested, if you ever have doubts about it being genuine. PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER The following are samples of a few of the requests I've made and the results from my own log. You'll note that one of the signs did not appear but I regard that as an answer nonetheless. I've listed them as I do in my log to give you an example to follow when designing and using your own for maximum benefit. Experiment a bit with your own method of record keeping but it is vitally important that you do keep a record for future reference. I've often found similarities and experienced "aha" moments days or even weeks afterwards. Some aspect that I did not understand - like why I didn't receive an answer - became obvious only after a period of time has passed. As is often said, "Hindsight is always 20/20/". It's important to trust our guides to steer us towards situations that don't injure us and are truly in our highest and greatest good. They have access to information that is not readily available to us. EXAMPLE 1 1) Background: I was contemplating sending some of my work to an editor for possible publication. 2) Time: December 18 4:30 PM 3) Request: "Divine Creator and my guides, I request to be shown a spinning earth, within 6 hours, to indicate it is in my highest and greatest good that I complete the application form required for consideration by this editor (and stated the name)."

4) Result: I had felt urged to turn on the TV a little before 8 PM and observed a large number of spheres on several channels, more than normal. At 8:22 PM, I was strongly urged to turn to the Discovery Channel and caught the beginning of a segment that highlighted how earth globes were made. At one point, there was an entire room filled with spinning globes hanging from the ceiling of this factory. 5) Observations: I received this sign without any doubt and will be following up at the earliest moment. EXAMPLE 2 1) Background: The son of an acquaintance, whom I didn't know all that well, gave me a strange looking coin - out of the blue - and said it was for luck. I hadn't bought Christmas gifts in several years for anybody and wanted to know if, on a spiritual level, this was an appropriate gesture. I sensed something special about him and did not want to lose any opportunity to spread the Light. 2) Time: December 20 7:30 PM 3) Request: "Divine Creator and my guides, I request to be shown the image of an owl within 6 hours to indicate that it is in the highest and greatest good to purchase a present for Robert." 4) Result/Observations: At exactly 1:30, a nature program on eagles and vultures showed a quick image of a bird in flight that I couldn't recognize but assumed it to be another of the same kind, given the others I'd seen up till then. It went to commercial and I distinctly heard a voice inside inquire whether I would allow an extra few minutes for the sign to be recognized to which I agreed immediately. The bird turned out to be an owl, the only one featured on the program but the initial image was shown in exactly the time period requested. I followed up by shopping the next day for a suitable gift for the young man. EXAMPLE 3 1) Background: A tenant had suggested that we each get a lottery ticket and split the winnings if one of them was chosen. I had certain misgivings about this but decided to make certain my "gut instinct" was correct. 2) Time: June 6 5:46 PM 3) Request: To be shown a dove, in any form, by 12 PM, to indicate it was in my highest and greatest good to purchase a lotto ticket in conjunction with this tenant. 4) Result: No appearance of dove in the time specified and will not be pursuing this, at this time. EXAMPLE 4 - THE MOST UNUSUAL RESPONSE TO DATE

1) Background: I work as a volunteer with the VON in their Safety Check Program. Each night, I would simply walk by to see if they had hung our sign outside their door, which indicated that all was well. A new client named Chris, whom I never met personally, started on our program and roughly 2 weeks later launched a formal complaint to my coordinator that I was not doing my job of checking for her sign. I had been, of course, and it was slightly annoying to be confronted by my coordinator about the complaint. With that in mind...I was mildly concerned about the very definite direction my learning was taking regarding building on my mediumship abilities. There were a few too many coincidences to disregard the guidance I was receiving from my guides but I wanted to confirm that I was going in the right direction and not simply following a passing interest.. 2) Time: January 27 4:03 PM 3) Request: "Divine Creator and my guides, I humbly request to be shown a caduceus, within 6 hours, to indicate it is in my highest and greatest good to continue with the direction of my present studies." 4) Result: At 8:08 PM, I had heard the siren of a fire truck close by and had gotten up to look out the window, thinking the alarm might have gone off in an adjacent building to where I work. Instead of a fire engine, I was a bit shocked to peer out and see an ambulance instead, with a big caduceus on the side. Unless it is directly in front of my building, I don't pay much attention. 5) Observations: I was pretty much certain that this was the sign I requested and felt it inside but a small bit of doubt remained because ambulances, while not an everyday occurrence, arrived at least twice a week at the building. About an hour later, talking to my counterpart (building superintendent) in the other building, I was absolutely stunned to be told that the woman who had made a complaint about me and had been on our program for less than a month, had passed away...and the ambulance was there for her!!! Had the incident not occurred the week before, I would not have taken much notice because it had nothing to do with my duties. It was a very strange symmetry that she would play such a key role in helping to determine whether or not I should continue with my mediumship studies. She was the source of my sign's appearance. It took me quite some time to wrap my mind around how everything fit together. SOME FINAL POINTS TO CONSIDER One important aspect when working with your guides or angels, in this way, is that you must remain detached from the outcome. It's essential to be aware, of course, during the waiting period - and don't be shy to request help with this from them - but remain detached from the outcome so you don't experience any type of disappointment. Sometimes the signs do not arrive and you'll have a tendency to question yourself and whether or not you just weren't paying enough attention. Try not to do that. If they arrive, they are usually accompanied with a slight stirring inside. Only you can decide if it has arrived so pay attention to your gut feeling and try not to overanalyze. Above all else, do not ask somebody else who has no knowledge of this tool or guides in general. Their path is not yours, nor are their experiences or purpose.

Additionally, I've found it helpful to use affirmations to assist me. "I will be aware of (state the object) when it appears." Whisper it from time to time when you become aware of the thought because it is almost always your guide's way of ensuring that you remain aware and alert. If the object you requested is shown to you, ALWAYS take a moment to express gratitude and acknowledgement. Typically, I say a variation of this: "I accept this as the sign I requested. Please accept my sincere gratitude for your assistance, Divine Creator and my guides." You'll find your own unique voice and means of expression. Even if you fail to get the response you requested, it is an answer in itself so be sure to express your recognition of this, along with your gratitude. "I accept this as an indication that (course of action) was not in my highest and greatest good. Thank you, Divine Creator and my guides, for assisting me in making a wise decision and choice not to pursue this." Use whatever wording is comfortable to you but always remember to include acknowledgement and gratitude. Never share your requests with anyone prior to them manifesting. It is a sure-fire way to lose confidence in yourself, the process and your guides. If you absolutely feel the need to proclaim how special you are, then you're likely not ready to use this tool. Remember, you're keeping a log and if you feel it necessary, you can always disclose your request to others by showing them those pages, after you've recieved your sign. If they question your honesty, you've learned a valuable lesson: they are not somebody you can discuss this personal aspect of your spiritual journey with. The bottom line is you know what you know, period. You have nothing to prove to anybody. Begin with something small. This will help build the confidence you need so you are able to rely on and trust your guides, angels and the Creator. I often utilize the Law of Attraction and this process has been immensely beneficial for me in determining whether or not what I want is, in fact, what I really need. What seems important or even critical one month may prove to be redundant or unnecessary, a few months down the road. Our spiritual helpers play a hand in every incident that enters our life and are well aware of our purpose and goals - and how best to achieve them. In conclusion, all I can add is consider beginning a dialogue with your guides or angels - whichever you prefer to call them - as soon as possible. If a situation arrives, seemingly out of the blue, that brings you joy, take a quick moment and thank your joy guides. If you find you'll be out among people, take a moment before you leave the house and request that your protector guide shield you from harm or ill-intent....or negative energies and entities.

You're experiencing a difficulty or problem, don't be shy to ask your doctor teacher guide to lead you to the people and resources than will assist you. By acknowledging their efforts on your behalf, you open yourself to even more instances of assistance, often when you least expect it. It's those first few hesitant steps that you can build on to nurture the relationship with your personal angels or guides, whose sole responsibility is to assist you in achieving your goals and learning essential lessons. Trust me when I tell you, they are VERY interested in seeing you happy and successful and are only a whisper away. This article was based loosely on some of the techniques pioneered by Dr. Adrian Calabrese. I've modified so it is effective for me, to fit my own spiritual path and beliefs, but she was a huge influence on this aspect of my spiritual development. Quite honestly, this has been one of the most valuables tools in my "spiritual toolbox". So many of us, as Raziel and others continue to tell us, are working directly with some very enlightened Beings Of Light almost every single evening when we sleep. Based on my own experience and development, this technique had an enormously positive effect on my ability to not only understand but to make decisions that were truly based on my highest and greatest good. In these difficult times, we need every tool we can add to our toolbox to assist us in our communication with these wonderful entities that hold us in such endearment. Ten Ways to Beat the Holiday Blues

Posted by Whispr
Tips for overcoming the stresses of this season of high expectation. It's that time of year again, when into the dark little month of December we squeeze Hanukkah, Christmas, Kwanzaa, New Year's Eve, and myriad other celebrations. Throw into the mix a generous dose of unrealistic expectations, budget-busting shopping, darker days, colder weather, excess eating and drinking, and no wonder that along with "peace on earth, goodwill toward men," come anxiety, exhaustion, and depression. But this year, with Omega Institute cofounder Elizabeth Lesser's soulful tips, you can do something to spin your stress into the gold that is the promise of the season. Tip #1: Be Realistic The reality of many people's holidays includes too much to do and not enough time, too much to purchase and not enough money, and too much to eat and not enough willpower. On the other hand, some people experience not enough family, fun, and friendship. Fighting against the reality of your life at this moment will only make you bluer. Instead, be kind to yourself, seek support, and even laugh at yourself every now and then. Tip #2: Create Your Own Traditions As families change and grow, traditions change as well. For example, if you are a working woman who had a stay-at-home mother, instead of trying to reproduce the exact old-fashioned holiday of your childhood, do only what you can. As long as you do them with a joyful heart, the meals, decorations, and celebrations you create will become your family's cherished rituals. If you are divorced, be as harmonious and generous as you can with your ex. It will be the best gift you give to your kids this year. If you are single or far away from your family, invite others into your home and give the words "extended family" new meaning. Tip #3: Help Others Not because you should, but because it is the best antidote to self-pity and seasonal sadness. Find someone who is struggling more than you are, lend them a helping hand, and remember the real meaning of the holidays. Check out Beliefnet's Charity & Service channel for more on how serving others is good for the soul.

Tip #4: Seek Sacred Space Drop into a church, mosque, synagogue, Hindu temple, or . . . you get the idea. Sometimes just sitting in sacred space can remind you of the true meaning of the holidays. Most places of worship welcome all people, even those just looking for a touch of grace in the midst of a stressful day. Instead of hurrying by that church you have passed a hundred times on the way to work, take a moment to enter its doors and sit quietly, imbibing the atmosphere and the prayers of its members. Tip #5: Care for the Temple of Your Body Eat well, drink a lot of water, exercise, and then be merry. Instead of making one more feeble New Year's resolution to join a gym or take a yoga class, do it right now. You will be amazed at how the smallest bit of movement will lift your spirits, and how reducing the amount of junk food, sugar, and alcohol you consume will reduce your blues. And sleep--for goodness' sake, do whatever it takes to get enough of it. Sleep deprivation is at the root of many people's depression. Tip #6: Be Financially Responsible Don't close your eyes the next time you use your credit card. Overspending during the holidays will not only increase your stress now, but will also leave you feeling anxious for months afterward as you struggle to pay the bills. Buck the holiday system of excessive gift-giving, and practice simplicity, creativity, and basic human kindness. Tip #7: Breathe Several times during your busy day, put down what you're holding--your shopping lists, your third cup of coffee, your date book, the phone call you should be making-and sit quietly for just 60 seconds. Take in a full breath, let it pool gently in the bottom of your lungs, and then release it slowly. Inhale deeply again, and exhale with an audible sigh. Inhale again; exhale with a long "aaahh." With each exhalation, let your shoulders drop and your jaw relax. Do this a couple of times, with your eyes closed. Let the "aaahh" sound emerge from your belly, move up into your heart, and drift out into space as you exhale, slowly, smoothly, steadily. Tip #8: Grieve If a friend or family member has recently died, honor his or her memory. Create an altar with pictures of those you love; light candles every night for someone you have lost; play sacred music and allow yourself to cry, remember, and heal.

Tip #9: Forgive Forgiveness is the salve that heals a broken spirit. Forgive all sorts of people this holiday season--those from your past, your work, your family, and the ones in the news you love to hate. Read the stories of people (like Martin Luther King, Jr., or Pumla Gobodo Madikizela of South Africa's Truth and Reconciliation Commission) who have used forgiveness to move mountains. If they can do it, so can we. Tip #10: Love...Everything Love it all. From the corny Christmas music to the house guests who won't leave. Love even the hard times; even the cranky and crooked people of the world; even yourself, with all of your imperfections. SILVER BELLS CLEANSING

Posted by Rev. Carol A. Ingle (Raven)

This is a very simple way to cleanse your home of negative energy and is sometimes known as space clearing. YOU WILL NEED A silver bell of any size with a beautiful tone. Place the bell on your pentacle to charge for 24 hours. (If you are new to the craft and don't yet own a pentacle leave the bell on a windowsill during a full moon so that lady goddess may charge it for you.) When the bell has charged go around the home opening all the windows and ringing the bell don't forget places that are seldom used like a spare room or the cupboard under the stairs fill your home with the sound. Once you have finished close all the windows and play soothing music to complete the new sense of harmony and peace. Keep the bell for future space clearings only.

Aromas to Heal a Broken Heart

Posted by Whispr
Too often people write off break-ups as just another page to turn in the book of life. There is some truth in that, but break-ups should be taken a bit more seriously. After all, this is the end of a relationship. And this loss can be as painful as lsing a loved one in death. To heal it takes time, self-care, and conscious processing of your emotions. It is vital that you allow this healing process to occur, and take advantage of the situation to treat yourself with gentleness and nurturing. Here are some other things to keep in mind during this transformative time: Avoid any big decisions. Go into the pain and the feelings. There is no way out but to get through it...and you will! Take long aromatherapy baths with appropriate holistic blends. See recipes below. Cry when you need to. Don't let others tell you to just get over it. Be VERY selfish. Surround yourself with positive and happy people. Dare to ask for a lot of hugs. Get a dog or cat, or cuddle with the ones you have. Write really awful, bitchy, letters to your ex. Write everything you would love to say. Burn them in the sink. Run the water to make it go away. Love yourself. Look in the mirror as often as you can and say wonderful things about yourself aloud. Write your way through the feelings.

Connect with other people who understand and can relate: friends, counselors, message boards on websites, etc.

Have a healthy lifestyle: eat well, exercise (at least get some fresh air on the beach, at the park, etc.). Nourish your soul with beauty: watch movies, read poetry, go to museums. Meditate. Stay alone and appreciate the tranquility of your aloneness. There's no rule for how long the pain of a heartbreak will last. It may take weeks, months or even years. But using the following special aromatherapy blend and ritual will soothe your heart, nurture your wounded soul, and envelop you in comfort. I recommend following this bath ritual every night until you feel the pain has faded. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Your Daily Bath Ritual to Ease Your Broken Heart ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Prepare your aromatherapy blend by adding the following essential oils to a 10-oz bottle and filling with organic vegetable oil: 4 drops Rose Essential Oil 15 drops Sandalwood Oil 9 drops Lavender Oil Run some warm water for your bath and add 10 drops of your aromatic blend. Light some candles and turn off the lights. Close your eyes and place your hands on your heart. Visualize yourself filled and surrounded by a pink color. Take a few deep breaths. Feel the color soothing your being. Say aloud, "I am love myself." Take a few deep breaths again. Soak for at least 15 minutes. After you get out of the bath, pour a few drops of the aromatherapy blend into the palms of your hands and anoint your heart chakra (the seat of love: healing, grieving, acceptance), and the third eye (integrating, detachment, connection with your Higher Self).

My Formula for Emotional Control

Posted by Hedral
The Human Condition is shaped largely by feeling and by the nature of this physical realm; subjectivity rules. True objectivity is not possible. However; by knowing this, we can choose to control our ego/emotional responses. This allows us to view our environment, ourselves and others in a more objective way. Here lies the key to observing the man made illusions of this plane, working them without becoming part of the illusionary patterns. It is the basis of creating better personal realities for ourselves. From the time I was very young, I was an extremely emotional person with no idea how to process my feelings properly. I either repressed them; pretending not to feel what I felt, or I responded without thinking. Both of these choices proved to be very damaging to my sense of self and my self esteem. My responses engaged my ego to rise up and represent me for so many years. By doing this I shaped a personality facade that was not representative of my total being. Just my emotions and ego. I was fortunate to have a strong connection to my spirituality. I dont know why or how but I did. And thankfully my Inner Guidance stepped in and helped me to slowly change my emotional response patterns. It took me years to finally get it but once I did the results were amazing. And even though I get the idea and know how much better I handle things, it is still hard to break old patterns. But it can be done. The benefits are so worth the effort. I havent shared this with many for several reasons. It is one of those things that presents so simply that it appears complicated and difficult to explain in a way that satisfies the minds demand for understanding. As you work with it; if you choose to, you will notice a noticeable transformation in the way you handle difficult situations and how you view the world in general. My Guidance gave me a formula to use as a basis for controlling my emotions. Stimuli--------->Perception-------->Interpretation--------> Reaction----------->Response-------->Actions Stimuli The first one is obvious. It is merely what the environment is for that moment, hour, day, etc...It can be anything. Everything in this physical plane can be stimuli. Our minds register millions of pieces of data that is stimuli all the time. And it is processed unconsciously every second.

Consciously working this formula is helpful when you are aware of discomfort inside. Anything that triggers fear, anger, hurt feelings, guilt etc..is the time to consciously utilize the formula. For example, someone says something to you that rubs you the wrong way. That is the time to stop and work the formula. Stimuli is a fairly objective form at this stage. One other thing about stimuli. It is not always the reason for the emotions to engage..sometimes stimuli is merely a trigger. Triggering something that was repressed and long buried inside us. Sometimes the actual stimuli has nothing to do with what we are feeling about it..it is just the trigger and nothing more. Perception How the stimuli is first processed. The first response to the stimuli is how you sense it. Where do you sense it. What is the first thing that comes to mind when you sense it? This is where the stimuli changes shapes and becomes subjective. For example, you wake up and the day is rainy. You can perceive the stimuli as either just rain or a sense of forboding, a sense of anticipation. Interpretation This is where it starts to get tricky. What are you interpreting from your perception of the stimuli. Example, it is raining..your perception is irritable when you note it is raining; your interpretation is the weather is going to ruin your whole day. It is the place where you really begin to internalize and process with your emotions how you perceived the stimuli. This is where you start feeling it in your solar plexus. The beginnings of angst. You have interpreted the weather, the remark, the way your hair looks, the way your house looks not in a good way and the solar plexus begins to churn. Reaction At this point the feelings engage. The process is felt in the solar plexus and the second chakra. A Word on Emotional Repression Repressed emotions are generally stored in the second chakra for women, the solar plexus for men. Repressed emotions are things that were upsetting, devastating or traumatic to us that we did not process. It is a mistaken belief that if we ignore or shut out hurtful or unpleasant feelings that they have gone away. This is a pseudo attempt at emotional control and it doesnt work.

The feelings we repress are pushed down into the second chakra and/or solar plexus. Its like shoving things we dont know what to do with in a damp basement. The things we put there change shape. They swell up from the damp environment, growing mold and fungi until they are no longer recognizable. Just because we shoved them in the basement and forgotten them doesnt mean they went away. They merely took on a life on their own, fed by more and more things shoved down there. They take up space that we could use more creatively. The space becomes unhealthy and impairs the potential for improving our quality of life. They spread out and no matter where you step, you jar something that explodes in a wave of unpleasantness. It becomes a huge monster size living dump of the feelings we did not process. The second chakra and/or solar plexus becomes a storage of pain and discomfort. As it fills, we become less receptive to ourselves. Our emotions are then triggered by things that are not even related to what is actually happening at the time span we are in. When these unhealthy storage areas inside us are triggered, we could be responding to something that happened years and years ago. The perfect breeding ground for sickness, bitterness and perpetual anger. And this mix will eventually erupt like a volcano all over your life. Processing Feelings to Prevent The Basement Disaster Be your own best friend! And that means legitimizing how you feel. Stop for a bit when you are feeling angry, sad, confused etc...and give yourself permission to feel this while you observe it. Acknowledge your discomfort and observe the flow of these feelings without trying to make it feel better, push it away, resist or understand it. Let it flow through you. Notice where you feel it the most inside of you as it flows through you. Acknowledge that you feel sad, hurt, angry, confused, etc...This allows you to process and observe without actually interacting with the flow as it comes though you and leaves. Resistance adds strength to the thing you are resisting. As your resistance grows, so does the force you are trying to resist. Just let it flow through you. It may take a few minutes, hours or days. Just give yourself the time and space to legitimize and acknowledge how you feel. Make a ritual of it, circulating your aura while you do this, connect with your Higher Source, give yourself Reiki. I personally set aside time almost everyday to do this. I have so much buried crap inside me. I set aside an hour..half hour sometimes 15 minutes. I light my candles and incense, sit in my favorite chair and allow the discomfort to flow through me for a set time. Then I do something really good for myself. Like soak in the tub, read a book, give myself Reiki or eat a piece of chocolate.

This will neutralize the urge to repress. It will disarm the egos litany of self denigration. It allows you to make peace with yourself and keep your inner spaces clear for your own creative works. It keeps you from burying the vast treasure you have inside you. Response At this point the emotions will engage. This is where you decide what action will manifest from this processing. Will it be angry words, an act guaranteed to make someone feel guilty, a clever plan of revenge or a barrage of self hate. Or will it be a decision to keep processing it until you make peace with yourself and the energy of the emotions. A response ability that allows you to use the processing of your emotions as a learning experience, utilizing wisdom and discernment on how to act on what is best for you and your wellbeing. Actions There is no end or beginning to this formula. It is more like a cycle. Then end product is still going to circulate in its spiral patterns. Processing is an ongoing thing. We all process our emotions but we either do it unconsciously or consciously. Unconscious processing leads to repression..Conscious processing of the formula leads to heightened self awareness, self knowledge and wisdom. The action you take after processing through the formula will always circulate back. Incorrectly or correctly for yourself. For there is no right or wrong. Just what is correct for you or incorrect. What you manifest into the physical plane as an action will either be back for further processing or help you process other difficult situations. The good thing about doing this repetitively is after a while, it becomes second nature and almost automatic. If you decide to utilize this...it will make an immense difference in your quality of life and how you view yourself and others If not, it will be fine. You will find a way. Review: Utilizing the Formula for Emotional Control. Legitimize your feelings and emotions. Observe and Acknowledge your feelings and emotions. Do not repress or resist the flow of feelings and emotions. Using these tools heightens self awareness. Be kind to yourself and be your own best friend. Process your feelings enough that you lose the egos urge to self denigrate.

An Introduction to Spiritualism
Posted by Rev. Carol A. Ingle (Raven)
Some people describe themselves as being spiritual rather than religious, and it might be tempting to presume that Spiritualism has to do with personal spirituality. In fact, Spiritualism designates a specific school of religious thought in which contact with non-corporeal spirits via mediums is a primary means of gaining further understanding. The National Spiritualist Association of Churches defines the movement as the following: Spiritualism is the Science, Philosophy and Religion of continuous life, based upon the demonstrated fact of communication, by means of mediumship, with those who live in the Spirit World. (1919) "Spiritualism Is a Science" because it investigates, analyzes and classifies facts and manifestations demonstrated from the spirit side of life. "Spiritualism Is a Philosophy" because it studies the Laws of Nature both on the seen and unseen sides of life and bases its conclusions upon present observed facts. It accepts statements of observed facts of past ages and conclusions drawn therefrom, when sustained by reason and by results of observed facts of the present day. "Spiritualism Is a Religion" because it strives to understand and to comply with the Physical, Mental and Spiritual Laws of Nature, which are the laws of God. Origins Spiritualism originated in the 19th century, when belief in seances and mediums became common throughout the Western world. But Spiritualism involves much more than a simple belief in ghosts. It involves a wider worldview involving both the physical and spiritual worlds and how they are interconnected. A large number of mediums and believers of ghosts do not consider themselves Spiritualists. Basic Beliefs There are differences between different Spiritualist groups. However, there are several commonly held beliefs.

1. The existence of an infinite intelligence, a supreme but generally impersonal power that expresses itself through the natural world (both physical and spiritual) and everything within it. As such, all things and all people are part of this manifestation of God. 2. True religion is about understanding how this intelligence manifests itself and living in accordance with it. 3. Life does not end at death. The soul can experience a variety of existences, of which life on earth is only one. Afterward, the soul can continue to learn and evolve just as it did on earth, passing through multiple spiritual realms. 4. Communication with these non-corporeal souls is not only possible but also important in our own growing understanding of the world and ourselves. 5. There is no Heaven or Hell. There is always the opportunity for improvement and redemption, both in this life and in life after physical death. 6. Each person is responsible for his own actions and his own circumstances. Relationship with Christianity Most 19th century mediums were also Christians. As such, Christianity influences some branches of Spiritualism more than others, particularly on moral issues. Overall, however, Spiritualism is its own separate faith. Fortune-Telling The rise of seances happened in a time of increased interest in various forms of divination, and some mediums did claim that the spirits could predict the future. This is not the claim of Spiritualists, although they do accept that the spirits can provide guidance about likely future events because they are able to understand the bigger picture. Morality of Spirits Spirits are generally considered to be of various stages of enlightenment, since they have experienced things in the Spirit realm that we have not. However, there are disagreeable and ignorant spirits, just as there are disagreeable or ignorant people. This is no more a permanent conditions among spirits than it is among the living.

What is the New Age?

Posted by Rev. Carol A. Ingle (Raven)
Who Are the New Agers and What Do They Believe? The term New Age has come to be applied to a wide variety of disparate belief systems. Many New Agers accept only a portion of New Age beliefs, and the totality of New Age beliefs certainly does not represent a single, coherent belief system. In addition, there are plenty of people who embrace practices often labeled as New Age but do not consider themselves New Agers. New Age beliefs tend to stress personal practices and an avoidance of dogma, as well as discovering our full potential, understanding of the wider spiritual cosmos, and recognition of the interconnectivity of things. History of the Term Today's New Age movement has risen to prominence over approximately the last 40 years. However, the term itself has 19th century antecedents, most notably its use within Theosophy, which teaches many beliefs held in common with today's New Agers. The New Age is commonly understood to be the astrological Age of Aquarius. Beliefs Commonly Included under New Age Headings Practices and beliefs commonly identified as being part of the New Age include (but are not limited to: Angelology Astral projection Astrology Atlantis Aura Reading and Kirelian Photography Chakras Divination, including tarot cards and scrying Gaia theory Holistic medicine Indigo children Ley lines Magnetic therapy Numerology Past life regression Power crystals Psychic practices (ESP, Clairvoyance, etc) Reiki Star Children

Lets Get Crafty.....A Homespun Yule

Posted by Harobed

Every year at this time Im look around and am saddened by the greed and commeralism that has over taken this wonderful season. Its all rush, rush , gimme, gimme and lets not forget the keeping up with apperances. For me Yule is the time of year where you give your best to other people. In my world that means I craft their gifts rather than give out Wallyworld gift cards. So while the bulk of the population are racing around going into debt.Im in the middle of finishing the many Yule presents that I make.I have to tell you this is not just a labor of love ...its a great deal of fun! I quietly listen and figure out what they want ,what they may not have and what will put a smile on their faces.First I craft and pass out the presents that are seasonal ,such as the groovy Crow Yule Wreath thats now hanging on my best buddies door (lol I cant wait for her to get home and see it!).Every bit of this was made or grown by me except the crow ,the twine and the beads. The wreath took a night to assemble and actual out of pocket exspense was maybe 6.00$ .Next came the Lavender (I had a great harvest this year so its plentiful) out of the Lavender I made pentacles ,smudge sticks, spell mix ,door swags ,talismen and even a sweet little besom. All of these are perfect for Yule gifts and it only cost me in time , twine and a bit of reclaimed copper wire. Rosemary is an herb that easily grows almost everywhere so I know most of you have some in the garden.Since its the "Rememberance" herb,I always make some rosemary pentacles to give to friends who have lost loved ones over the year along with a nice sack of Sweet Marjoram and basil tea to ease the grief of the holiday without them. These pentacles are really quite easy to make ,you might mess the first one up but after that they come easier and easier its just practice!

Lastly theres baking ....everyone on the list gets fresh baked cookies and a loaf of holiday bread .Now we allll know nothing says loven like something in the oven! This year since cash is tight I'm makeing Cinnamon Raisen Bread,Gingerbread and Peanut Butter Cookies with Jam prints. Yummy and colorful I wrap them in tissue paper and tuck them into baskets I found at yardsales and refurbished over the summer.LOL Ive never had one of these baskets met with anything other than delight. This year I made 10 baskets full of comfort food and soothing herbs and spent less than 50.00 ,how awsome is that! All my friends look forward to their "Homespun" presents and I just know yours will too!

Cinnamon Raisin Bread 1 1/2 cups milk 1 cup warm water (must be between 110-115 degrees) 2 (1/4 ounce) packages active dry yeast 3 eggs 1/2 cup white sugar 1 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup unsalted butter , softened 1 cup raisins 8 cups all-purpose flour 2 tablespoons milk 1 cup white sugar 3 tablespoons ground cinnamon 2 tablespoons butter , melted (approx.) Directions: 1.Warm the milk in a small sauce pan on the stove until it just starts to bubble, stirring occasionally. 2.Remove from heat. 3.Let cool until lukewarm, about 120-125 degrees. 4.Dissolve yeast in warm water and set aside until yeast is frothy, about 10 minutes or so (make sure your water is at the correct temperature or the yeast won't activate.) Then mix in eggs, sugar, butter salt and raisins (stir in the cooled milk slowly so you don't cook the eggs.) Add the flour gradually to make a stiff dough. 5.Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface for a few minutes until smooth. 6.Place in a large, buttered, mixing bowl and turn to grease the surface of the dough. 7.Cover with a warm, damp cloth and let rise (I like to let my bread rise in the oven with the light on. It has just the right amount of heat and keeps the bread out of drafts.) Allow to rise until doubled, usually about 1 1/2 hours. 8.Roll out on a lightly floured surface into a large rectangle 1/2 inch thick. 9.Moisten the dough with 2 tablespoons milk and rub all over the dough with your hands. 10.Mix together 1 cup of sugar and 3 tablespoons cinnamon and sprinkle mixture evenly on top of the moistened dough. 11.Roll up tightly (the long way). 12.The roll should be about 3 inches in diameter. 13.Cut into thirds, and tuck under ends and pinch bottom together. 14.Place loaves into well greased (you can use Crisco or butter for this) 9 x 5 inch pans and lightly grease tops of loaves. 15.Let rise in warm place, uncovered, again for about an hour. 16.Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes or until loaves are lightly browned and sound hollow when tapped. 17.Remove from oven and let cool on rack.18.Take melted butter and spread over tops of loaves.19.After about 20 minutes, lay loaves on their sides and remove from pans.20.Allow to cool before slicing.

HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR MAGICAL NAME

Posted by
B One way is to look up a Deity's or many Deities' name(s) and incorporate them into a name that you feel especially strong with. I strongly encourage you to do you homework on this style of selection! Words have power and many a name has more than one meaning or story behind it. Do not be surprised if you begin to take on the aspects and/or personality of the one (or more) name(s) that you have chosen. Also, get the deity's permission FIRST, before you use their name! This is a great method but like most things (especially in Magick, you MUST be responsible for what you do). Another method is to use a ceremony or ritual (or even a dream) in which you choose animal or cultural names from history or memory. This one is great for past life/incarnation buffs. This method is also good for those with a strong association with a particular animal (or animals). One fun way is to sit alone, or even with some friends, and think of names or attributes of yourself that you and your friends feel are very strong and predominate in your personality. Choose something that you can be proud of and something that will not embarrass you the next time your friend(s) call it out at a meeting or gathering. Really think about this one. Remember, what you pick becomes a part of you and what you will become! Finally, you might want to try meditation, either guided or self-guided. This is a very personal way to find your name. Go and ask the Deities themselves! Envision yourself at a sacred space and ask for assistance from a guide and/or teacher. You will get it! Most methods of meditation will work, even methods of very deep relaxation. Have fun with this. Be respectful both to yourself, and the one(s) giving you help with this! Whatever method you choose, remember there is no "right" or "wrong" name. Just go with what feels good to you.
