Freelance Journalist (July 2013 to present) As a full time journalist in Brazil I have written for First Post India, Vice Magazine, the Independent, Lono Magazine and attracted international attention with my blog Words by Nicole Froio. I have been on BBC World Have Your Say three times as a political commentator and been invited to speak at Newsnight. By increasing my online presence I hope to become a successful blogger and columnist. Admissions, Marketing and Communications Assistant, THE BRITISH SCHOOL, RIO DE JANEIRO (November 2012 to June 2013) I organized the admissions department, filed applications and showed the school to prospective parents. I also wrote, subbed and designed the alumni magazine. Freelance Reporter, RIO TIMES (October 2012 to May 2013) I pitched and wrote stories weekly. I mostly wrote entertainment pieces, and sometimes covered news. I also subbed and edited stories. Freelance writer, PRESS ASSOCIATION (January 2012 to July 2012) In eight hour shifts I rewrote 20 stories of 200 words. Each story required a different style and voice, which taught me to be a flexible and quick writer. Blogger, THE INDEPENDENT (June 2011 to present) This voluntary job encompasses seeking stories that the Indys web audience. With much persistence, I interviewed celebrity actor Tom Felton and a Brazilian government official. My blogs have been repeatedly chosen to as The Editors Choice. My work can be seen in the following link: http://ind.pn/ pz7CVD Work Experience, THE INDEPENDENT (June 2011) Worked closely with reporters for three weeks, called PR agencies, wrote synopsis of books and films.Pitched stories to editors and one of them was picked up by the blogs editor who kept taking my content after I left.

Deputy Editor, FORGE PRESS (May 2011 to May 2012) Voted to the position by the rest of the student newspapers editorial team, I acted as Second-inCommand of the newspaper and helped the editor bring fortnightly issues together by subbing and editing stories. Was part of the team that won the Best Student Media Award at the 2012 NUS Awards. News Editor, FORGE PRESS (May 2010 to September 2011) Reported local and university news and gathered material for a fortnightly newspaper by coordinating a team of 50 writers. I was under constant pressure to meet deadlines. Gained experience in copy editing, subbing and Adobe InDesign.
