Unfair Competition: We have worked on the unfair competition between employees.

We try to figure out ethical dilemma if there is any. Zong is an equal opportunity employer. According to them, we follow a policy of hiring, employing and promoting employees based on their qualifications and performance. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, age, sex, religious creed, physical handicap, medical condition, national origin, ancestry, marital status or pregnancy. We will not tolerate discrimination by any of our employees. When we asked their employees that have they felt ever unfair competition among employees. Most of the respondents answered never. But very few employees tick on rare. It means that may be these employees themselves experience an unfair competition. We see that employees are looking satisfied with their job in a particular department in which we met the employees. In answer to a question asked to employees, a few said that we think that Zong has more male employees selected for job then female employees. But this is their perception; they are not even sure about their answer. We ourselves visited the office of Zong in TF complex & in blue area. The one thing which we noticed there we didnt see any handicapped employee there. Zong is a new company in the market, previously it was paktel. Zong when they started their operations with the name of Zong, they hire a lot of employees; they provide lot opportunities to youngsters. We have talked to one of the employee of IT department. He is a relative of one of our group member. He shared his personal experiences in the company. He is satisfied with his job. But he said that if a person has strong reference, & he is a bit capable too, he will get the job. Like if a person knows the senior manager of any department, & the senior manager of that department accepted the person for the job then even HR department has no issue with it. So if the person has references he has more chances to get job, rather than a person who is very capable but has no reference. There is a lot of diversity in the organization, many Chinese employees & Pakistani employees are working together. Overall company has made a good policy; they do not discriminate on the basis of religion. Even inside the company employers do not discriminate on this basis. What we find out is that we didnt see any handicapped employee & the second thing if a person has reference, then its easy for him/her to get job. Conflicts among employees: Managers often ignore conflicts between employees hoping they will disappear or resolve themselves. Clashes between co-workers often begin as work-related issues then spiral into personal and emotional conflicts. Long-term disagreements can actually damage your company's culture, employee morale and overall productivity. We cant say that there is no conflict between employees in Zong. In the present world it is an ethical dilemma. Every organization has issues like that; employees might have conflicts with other employees or even with management. In Zong by collecting data from questionnaire, we didnt find out that if there is any conflict among employees. But when we interview some of the employees, we get some information through it. One of the employees told us that if there is a personal conflict between two employees or two groups, they didnt want to raise that issue towards management & management is not aware of it. In this type of case employees themselves try to resolve the conflict by negotiation or by

the help of their colleagues. It means that there might be some conflict which arises in past & management was not aware of it. Management should always have a check on all the individuals & all the departments. Even if there is a minor conflict, management should involve in it & resolve it. According to a line manager in the organization, he told us that management has a strong check & balance in the organization. He said that I cant deny that conflicts do not arise, but the ratio is very less. As most of the respondents of questionnaire answered that they enjoy their work & job. It affects a lot, if a person is enjoying his work, he might not disturb any one, & just do his own work. Stealing of office items: Amazingly its also an issue even in the large organizations like Zong. Once I was surfing on the net, when I found a forum that was about the stealing of office items in the organizations of Pakistan. I was amazed that many people wrote that they steal small things like office pads, folders & pens. These things are not very expensive but though it is un-ethical to do so. But the people who have written their own stories on that forum about the stealing of office items, these people do not have any guilt on it, & they are saying that it is not a very big issue, because organization do not get affected by it. They even think that its their right to take things with them. Many respondents of questionnaire answered that they noticed about the stealing of office items specially the stationary. One of the employees during interview told us that most employees that are involved in these activities are from administration department. He also told that he himself noticed that in administration department stationary items are being stolen & they think that its not a loss of organization. Other than stationary some of the administration department officers were also involved in stealing the old office furniture for their personal use. When we asked a general question to one of the line managers that why actually employees steal office items, he answered that usually, opportunity presents itself, and if the odds of being caught are low, an employee may consider something because he has a negative perception of the workplace. If the morale of the workplace is low, you might consider finding employment where the attitude is upbeat and creates a balance of respect between the employer and the employee. Stealing of small office items becomes so common in the organizations that even employees do not complaint about it, if they noticed someone doing this. They have perception in their minds that it is not a big issue. Some might think that complaining against someone may be trouble for themselves. No one wants to reveal his/her identity while complaining & they have feared of retaliated. Most of the respondents answered that they have never found any case of stealing, may be the employees do not want to damage the reputation of the company. A few employees said that they only heard about some of the cases in past but they never experienced it. Sexual Harassment: One of the line managers told us the policy of company which is, any acts of discrimination or sexual harassment should be reported immediately to the manager. A proper investigation will be made of all such reports and appropriate, prompt, corrective action will be taken. All actions taken to resolve complaints of discrimination or sexual harassment will be conducted confidentially. After an appropriate investigation, any manager, supervisor or other employee who is found to have engaged in sexual harassment of another employee will be subject to discipline, depending on the circumstances, up to and including termination. The Employer will not take reprisals

or retaliate against employees for bringing to its attention acts of sexual harassment or other types of unlawful discrimination. We have talked to two female employees of Zong, they told us that they are working equally as male employees, there is no discrimination & they feel safe while working & they liked the environment of the company. Almost all of the respondents of questionnaire answered that they feel safe in the organization. They also said that they do not discriminated by the management. Sexual harassment effects an organization a lot; it decreases the productivity of employees. Employees do not work hard, they do not get motivated. Conflicts between employees occur, so in this way they cant achieve mutual goals within the organization. One of the employees told us that; Zong has a proper & specific policy about those kinds of issues & strict action will be taken if anyone is found doing that un-ethical practice in the organization. He told us that we as a Pakistani have our own customs & traditions in which we have to respect a woman. The culture of Zong is also like that. Conclusion Conflicts can be handled if management itself involved in resolving the conflict. A platform should be provided to employees so that they can provide feedback, suggestions and they can talk about their views freely. Discrimination should also be avoided by the employers. The conflicts should be handled immediately so that they will not become out of controlled. Management should took a strict action against those who start conflict on personal issues. These unethical activities like stealing of office items and stationery may affect the organization at large scale, because all organizations have first priority to keep the information of customers secret. If customers would know that their personal information is not safe in the organization, of course theyll do not want to become customer of that organization, & even they may take the legal action against the company & might sue the company. They should establish a tracking system for your office supplies in order to see where they're going and at what rate they're being used. In today's work environment, it's a subject that needs discussion. The key is to provide ongoing training, including refresher courses, tailored to employee's needs. For instance, educate workers about their rights and how to report incidents. Meanwhile, you should teach supervisors how to respond to worker complaints and show them ways they can create a sexualharassment-free environment. The most effective way to avoid sexual harassment in the work place, and also influence the publics state of mind, is for the employer to adopt a clear policy prohibiting sexual harassment and to make it very clear to their employees.
