True relationships become stronger over time.

Why are we telling you this? Because real classics need special care. We are dedicated to providing you and your Porsche with a place you can turn to for service and assistance in a historical location. A place that meets your requirements with

regard to Porsche quality repairs, maintenance, care, restoration and genuine parts. Not just for the 356, but for all Porsche vehicles for which standard production was generally discontinued at least 10 years ago.

For you, this means one thing above all else: that your Porsche is in expert hands. And you are not alone. Porsche owners around the world and even the Porsche Museum have placed their trust in this unique fund of knowledge and experience

acquired over decades. After all, a deep and meaningful relationship simply cannot be maintained through fleeting contact.

The good thing about Porsche classics is that their numbers are continually growing.

Classic Porsche cars.

Porsche Classic cares for all Porsche vehicles for which standard production was generally discontinued at least 10 years ago.

In other words, the 356, 914, 959 and 911 up to and including Types 964 and 993, as well as all four and eight-cylinder Porsche road vehicles such as the 924, 928, 944 and 968.

A detailed list of the models we cater for can be found on the following pages. We are leading the way in terms of the style, service, repair and authentic restoration of classic Porsche cars.

356
Production period: Number of examples produced: Available part numbers*: 77,766 2,565 19481965 The first car bearing the Porsche name was built in 1948: the 356/1 roadster. With an uprated VW engine delivering 26 kW (35 hp; at 4,000 rpm) and weighing in at 585 kg, this lightweight midengined sports car reached a top speed of 135 km/h. The Gmnd roadster was followed by production cars with a displacement of up to 2 litres and an output of 96 kW (130 hp). Around 78,000 examples of the 356 model were produced in Stuttgart between 1950 and 1965.
*Individual part numbers available for order.

914
Production period: Number of examples produced: Available part numbers: 118,982 1,741 19691976

Co-produced with VW and priced below the 911, the 914 was launched in 1969. This midengined sports car featured a removable top and a four-cylinder fuel-injected engine. 13,312 units of this model were sold in 1970 alone. The uprated 914-6 version was fitted with the 2-litre sixcylinder engine of the 911 T.

10

924
Production period: Number of examples produced: Available part numbers: 150,684 4,598 19761988

The 924 was the first Porsche to feature a transaxle layout with a water-cooled front-mounted engine and a gearbox on the rear axle.

928

928

Alongside the 911 Turbo, the large 19771995 61,056 8,512 928 sports tourer was the most expensive Porsche production car. In addition to an alloy V8 engine and aluminium chassis, innovations on the luxury Gran Turismo included a rear suspension known as the Weissach axle. The result: improved cornering characteristics and directional stability during load changes.

944 968
944
Production period: Number of examples produced: Available part numbers: 163,302 6,131 19821991 The 944 an aerodynamically enhanced 2+2-seater quickly developed a large fan base. At the heart of the 944 is a sensationally smooth-running, cultured engine whose economic efficiency will bring tears to the eyes of oil moguls, stated Motor magazine in a test report. The transaxle configuration already familiar from the 924 and 928 ensured excellent handling.

968
Production period: Number of examples produced: Available part numbers: 11,248 9,405 19921995

The successor to the 944, the 968 was offered as a Coup and Cabriolet. The continuation of the transaxle layout resulted in outstanding response and low fuel consumption. At that time, the 968 was regarded as the fourcylinder with the highest torque and displacement in its class.

14

911
Production period: Number of examples produced: Available part numbers: 81,100 3,325 19641973

The 911 is the most famous Porsche sports car, regarded by many as the epitome of the marque. It was originally premiered as the 901. However, a French manufacturer claimed copyright over the use of all model numbers

with zero in the middle. In 1964, Porsche therefore changed the name from 901 to 911, after which it was also known as the F-Model. Nevertheless, 82 examples of the 901 Coup had already been sold by this point.

911

911
911
Production period: Number of examples produced: Available part numbers: 196,397 7,090 19741989 Typical features on the Porsche known as the G-Model included striking safety bumpers. The Porsche 911 was also pioneering in terms of occupant safety: it featured a modernised safety-oriented interior with shock-absorbing steering wheel, retractable three-point seat belts and integrated headrests. Thanks to K-Jetronic fuel injection, the 2.7-litre engines offered a significant reduction in exhaust and noise emissions.

17

959

959
Production period: Number of examples produced: Available part numbers: 292 2,336 19871988

Based on the existing 911 model, the technologically advanced 959 was produced in an exclusive series of 292 examples. From the twin-turbo boxer engine with water-cooled four-valve cylinder heads and an electronically controlled chassis to the all-wheel

drive system and aerodynamically enhanced body, this model was used by Porsche to demonstrate everything that was technically feasible in automotive engineering at the time. Despite a price tag of DM 420,000, the 959 quickly sold out.

18

19

964

993
Production period: Number of examples produced: Available part numbers: 68,881 6,415 19931998

The successor to the 964, the 993 was the last model of the classic Porsche 911 series to feature an air-cooled boxer engine. Parts of the 993 body in critical areas were made of high-strength steels. In contrast to the 964, engine features now

included an engine management system and a twin exhaust system with two separate metal catalytic converters.

964
Production period: Number of examples produced: Available part numbers: 63,762 5,714 19881994

The 964 was the successor to the Porsche 911 G-Model. New features included a regulated catalytic converter, power steering and an anti-lock braking system (ABS). The engine output of the 964 ranged from 184 kW (250 hp) on the 911 Carrera models to 265 kW (360 hp) on the 911 Turbo.

Restoration.

Our aim is to retain the genuine appeal of your Porsche. This is a delicate balancing act when it comes to technical matters. We use original sets of tools, gauges and data sheets while working

in a high-tech workshop. For example, we can use a cataphoretic bath to offer maximum corrosion protection and also have our own upholstery section.

All work carried out on your vehicle is done so by Porsche AG to the usual high standards of quality and authenticity, and is documented in detail: with a full restoration you receive a certificate

and exclusive book containing all of the documentation relating to the work on your vehicle. We also offer partial vehicle restorations as well as engine

and/or transmission restoration. In the following overview, we illustrate the individual steps involved in a complete restoration.

28

29

1. Cost estimation
Approximation: based on photos, the Porsche Classic specialists draw up a rough initial estimate of the cost of restoring the classic Porsche. If the customer is interested in continuing, the vehicle is examined in the Porsche Classic workshop. If requested by the customer, Porsche Classic can arrange for the vehicle to be transported door-to-door to Stuttgart using trusted worldwide logistics partners. In the workshop, experts then evaluate the cost of restoration as precisely as possible. Each area is estimated separately: engine and transmission, electrics, chassis, body, paintwork and interior.

2. Vehicle delivery
Review of the situation: experts and the customer meticulously examine the vehicle. On-site in Stuttgart, the scope of the required work is discussed and defined.

4. Engine and gearbox

To ensure smooth running: the function and authenticity of the engine and transmission undergo a thorough check. If necessary, both are completely disassembled and cleaned. Defective parts are replaced with original parts or parts that have been replicated

3. Disassembly
For a full restoration, the vehicle is completely disassembled and all parts are removed from the bodyshell, from the engine to the interior equipment. This is the only way to clearly determine the condition of the classic vehicle.

based on original drawings. The specifications originally determined by the factory are used as the basis for the engine settings. The engines performance is then measured during a test run on the test stand. The engine test bench results are documented and displayed in a diagram. In this way, the engine and transmission are restored to their original state both visually and technically. Porsche Classic also offers customers the option of just having the engine and transmission restored, so that their classic vehicle runs smoothly again.

5. Bodywork
Craftsmanship throughout: after the specialists have removed

6. Cataphoretic painting and paintshop

Protection and beauty: the classic vehicle has it even better now than when it was brand new. Today, the bodyshell is immersed in a cataphoretic bath. The cataphoretic bath ensures that the primer is evenly applied, even to the most remote cavity. Epoxy resin dissolved in water produces a conductive paint. When an anode is immersed in the bath, the bodyshell acts as a cathode and a direct current is generated. This causes paint particles to adhere evenly and securely to the body and to all cavities, providing a high degree of corrosion protection. Afterwards, the complete paint build-up in the original colour begins.

7. Interior
Where you feel at home: now, the experts are open to discuss matters of pure taste. After all, the interior is a matter of the heart. Specialists can either upgrade the interior or completely restore it using materials of the same high quality as those originally used. Theres endless potential here to use your imagination and be creative. Our experts will do their utmost to fulfil your every wish.

8. Completion
Roadworthy: the classic Porsche is now as pristine as it was when it first left the factory, but it is not quite ready to be handed over to its owner yet. During extended test drives, several experts check the function of the engine and transmission, listen to the wind noise and carefully inspect the chassis and paintwork. Only once the specialists are satisfied can the customer be reunited with his valued companion along with a high-quality book containing complete documentation of the restoration process, a CD with approx. 1,000 pictures and a certificate.

most of the corrosion from the bodyshell, they open all the cavities a necessary step in preparation for the paint removal bath. The frame is precisely aligned on the bench-type straightening system, using frame gauges for the doors and windows that originate back to the production of todays classic car. If necessary, experienced mechanics reshape deformed areas. Extremely corroded areas are cut out of the body and replaced with new genuine parts. The trial assembly that follows is also performed meticulously. The unprimed body is completely assembled on the straightening system. Gap dimensions and functions (such as shutting of the

doors, engine lid and luggage compartment lid) are checked and optimally adjusted. The parts are then removed once more so that they can undergo further processing.

Why do we call our parts genuine? Because they are designed for something irreplaceable.

Porsche genuine parts and literature.

Porsche genuine parts.

Porsche has timeless appeal. In fact, two thirds of all Porsche vehicles ever made are still on the road today. This is a testament to Porsche and Porsche

enthusiasts everywhere. To ensure this continues to be the case, Porsche Classic supplies parts worldwide. We procure these genuine parts from former parts suppliers. If

this is no longer possible, we try to find new supply sources. Naturally, we ensure that Porsche standards are met in terms of technology, quality and safety. Our work is based on original documen t ation, technical draw-

ings and detailed descriptions, as well as a comprehensive store of samples.

production, increased statutory requirements must be observed, e.g. bans on certain materials when manufacturing spare parts. The close relationship that Porsche Classic maintains with its suppliers is an essential aspect of producing or relaunching a Classic Genuine Part. This is due to the fact that many suppliers incur above-average expenses (e.g. due to storage, maintenance and operation of large, old and complex tools) for low production quantities resulting from the relatively small number of classic Porsche vehicles compared to large automotive manufacturers. You will find a list of the latest new editions on the Porsche Classic website.

Literature.
Porsche AG produces a Porsche Genuine Parts Catalogue especially for workshops and private users. This covers all models, as well as the Tequipment and literature catalogue. The Porsche Genuine Parts Catalogue is published twice a year on CDROM. It contains PDF files listing all parts as well as a search tool and technical archive. To view the parts catalogue for your Porsche, visit our website at www.porsche.com/classic. In addition, you will find all information relating to recommended retail prices for genuine parts. Porsche Classic also provides technical literature. Around 800 operating, repair and instruction manuals can be ordered directly from your Porsche Centre.

New editions of parts.

Porsche Classic is constantly endeavouring to close gaps in the spare parts range. The inventory is continuously monitored and updated. Relaunches of parts in particular pose an exceptional challenge on the Porsche Classic staff.

The market demand must first be determined, historical documents in the Porsche Development Archive must be reviewed and the availability and condition of original tools must be checked. In many cases, a new supplier needs to be found or new tools manufactured. These steps are not only complex in themselves,

they also involve thorough and comprehensive technical checks. This is because Porsche Classic Genuine Parts are of course subject to the same quality standards as current Porsche genuine parts. All parts relevant to safety are extensively tested at the Porsche Development Centre in Weissach. During
