The Cherokee Nation and the Trail of Tears. New York: Viking, 2007. Print. The Trail of Tears killed many Native Americans and weakened their tribes. Boston: Bedford of St. Martin's, 1995. Print. The Cherokees took the government to court and fought for the rights they deserved. This helped a lot because it showed the troubles the Cherokees even had in court. "Primary Documents in American History." Andrew Jackson was cruel forcing many of the Native American tribes to sign documents that they thought were peace treaties. During the court battle the women of the Cherokee nation wrote a letter about the trouble theyd go through. This was useful by showing what the women had contributed in this act.
