15. State Senate President Elizabeth Mitchell is 69 years old and lives in Vassalboro. She is
the first woman to be elected senate president; she previously served as Speaker of the
House. In the legislature Mitchell has worked to improve the quality of public schools,
and has been an advocate for children and families on a wide range of issues.
