I-.rod/0.1o$alue based education system is the need of the hour and that there is not only a need to make education more relevant to present-day re5uirements of students but also to take it beyond rote-learning. Technology is moving at a very fast pace. 6hat was a breakthrough yesterday is obsolete today. In the )4st century, with new hopes and expectations, it is imperative that we appreciate the world around us. 7ife is changing rapidly, throwing great challenges and innumerable opportunities at us. 6ith the wave of globali8ation we are witnessing phenomenal changes in the world of management. Today the world is made of /utting "dge and technology. 'ence education should impart proactively anticipating global trends. The mission of the any institution is aimed at to provide $alue 9ased :uality !anagement "ducation.' The institution has to be carved a niche for itself in management education to offer innovative training methods that ensure practical exposure to actual industrial life, grooming the students to be realistic and effective in corporate careers.

OBJECTIVES OF THE STUDY 4. To find the factors that helps in creation of value-based management education. ). To understand the reforms and changing aspects of value based management education ;. To advocate reforms for improving value based management education in India EDUCATION what a huge meaning it has in our life, but sadly the meaning is reduced to the fact that it will go on to become our source of bread and butter < nothing more and nothing less. Is this what education stands for in our life= Is not education a way to make life better= I believe that education is not an accessory to life but it is a necessity. education is the vehicle of knowledge, self-preservation and success. "ducation not only gives us a platform to succeed, but also the knowledge of social conduct, strength, character and self respect. The greatest gift education gives us is the knowledge of unconditional love and a set of values. These values include the simple difference between right and wrong, a belief in >od, the importance of hard work and self respect. "ducation is a continuous learning experience, learning from )

people, learning from success and failures, learning from leaders and followers and then growing up to be the person we are meant to be. V23/e B2 ed Ed/02.1o$alue based education is a tool which not only provides us a profession which we can pursue but also a purpose in life. The purpose of our life is undoubtedly to know oneself and be ourselves. 6e cannot do it unless we learn to identify ourselves with all that lives. "very aspect of life and of the world makes a person complete, all rounded and knowledgeable and if we do not give this opportunity to the students who are on the verge of adulthood then we are robbing ourselves of ideas rich in enthusiasm and innocence. 6e should have a system of examination where every sub?ect is to be tested in a way such that the examinee gives answers based on his or her observation. It can be employed in a vast range of sub?ects. "ducation gives us this very knowledge, the most supreme knowledge of knowing oneself, which helps us to make our life better and purposeful. The ob?ective of education in a country like India, which has a glorious heritage and can boast of diversity in geography, culture, values and beliefs very rarely seen in this wide world, should be to educate a student of the value system which is indispensable to live a successful life. The educational institutes should inculcate such value based education system in a student M2-24e5e-. Innovations in the education sector could probably lead to an improvement in attendance levels in the classes and hence an increase in absorption levels of the sub?ect matter in the minds of the students. It can also lead the students to be more industry inclined so that barring a few students who go in for higher learningF the other students would be industry fit. #ome of the areas where there is substantial need for education, particularly management education. &evelopment of industry programs or industry specific programs could be of great help. In absence of the same, the alternative idea could be to perhaps have a couple of lectures in specific areas like outsourcing management, health and hospital management, pharmaceutical industry management etc. This will help the students get an idea about the specific sectors. #pecific innovations in the areas of teaching pedagogy will be of great use. #ome of these areas could be conduct of one week 'appreciation' programme at the beginning of the session, involving the students in creating posters specific to social needs for instance, anti ragging poster competition, debates, etc, reverse teaching, guest lectures, case studies, live pro?ects, industrial visits - national and international, use of select films to stimulate the mind for discussions , organising socially involved pro?ects like blood donation camps, celebrating festivals with members of an old age homes, children's homes etc, strengthening the hands of mahila groups and self-help groups, etc. "ach of these innovative pedagogy teachings has several advantages. >uest lectures give students an overview of industry practices and help them relate the theory to real life applications. The training and internship method is a self feeding method. Industry gets a first hand feel of students in a business school, thus increasing their placement opportunities and strengthening long term relationship between the two entities. A one-week appreciation course at the beginning of the year helps the students get a bird's eye view about the programme and its implications. /reating posters on social issues helps the students mentally prepared to solve social issues which could occur in the organisations. 7ive pro?ects help students get a taste of the industry. This would, in the normal course, involve discussions with the industry personnel, a sort of !.G with them. >roup presentations, team working help the students in having better negotiating skills, understanding group dynamics, etc. Another important area is the involvement of industry and very senior leaders in the decision making body itself, ie inclusion of such personnel in the >overning /ouncil of the institution. These inclusions help in understanding the industry perspective. Additionally these personnel also help in enhancing the brand value of the 3

institution. The key issue in all these live studies is to ensure that the student does not miss out on the attendance of the other sub?ects. These are some of the innovations through which Institutions can aim to raise the educational values and make the students employable. C82-41-4 A 7e0. o6 M2-24e5e-. Ed/02.1oTEACHING METHODOLOGY The teaching methodology emphasi8es the importance of learning through direct experience. A combination of teacher supervised and teacherindependent learning activities at the individual and group levels are integrated into the educational process. This is done in such a way that students are optimally involved in assessment of their own progress, through faculty and peer feedback. C/3./r23 E9e-. #tudents get opportunity to have cultural events. The uni5ueness about these events is proved by the fact that these should be planned and organi8ed by students only. Thus, giving them ample opportunity to bring out their talent, effectively work in teams and learn to shoulder responsibility. Therefore, institutes should help the students understand @eople #kills, managing their career, multi-tasking work, learn presentation skills, building confidence, managing self and having a multi-cultural approach. 2

L2-4/24e Le2r-1-4 To remain upbeat with the global scenario it is essential to learn other international languages apart from "nglish. Institutes should offer an option to the students to learn any one language from Arench, /hinese or >erman Re6or51-4 E=1 .1-4 M2-24e5e-. Pro4r255e %ethinking the management progammes has identified eight imperatives for reforming

existing management programmes gaining a global perspective, honing integration skills, developing leadership skills, recognising organisational realities and implementing effectively, acting creatively and innovatively, thinking critically and communicating clearly, understanding the roles, responsibilities and purpose of businessesF and lastly, understanding limits of models and markets. Co-03/ 1o"ducation being an integral part of every individual's life in society, the right type of valuebased education should be offered in the right type of environment to the students in Indian schools. These schools should focus on value-based education for development of a knowledge-based society, so that 5uality education will bring more accolades to their students and the schools themselves. This will ensure that students grow in both mind and heart, and learn the special virtues of life. This may change people's attitudes from one of only gaining an education for a particular ?ob and the basic skills that are needed to make a living. In the present day, in any society, there is an urge toward the spirit of coexistence, tolerance, and mutual respect among individuals. @lacing the highest priority and focus on value-based education will greatly achieve those traits among the younger generation. As a role model for society, teachers of these schools have to be alert, agile, and sensitive to these educational needs and should act as harbingers of change. They have a tremendous responsibility to create an intellectual environment conducive to modern education learning so these institutions become models in imparting value-based education. Re6ere-0e +
