THE UNIVERSITY OF MANCHESTER PARTICULARS OF APPOINTMENT FACULTY OF MEDICAL AND HUMAN SCIENCES MANCHESTER PHARMACY SCHOOL CLINICAL LECTURERS (3.0 FTE) Pharmacy Practice Research in Mental Health, Paediatrics and Oncology. High quality clinical research is vital to aid the evolution of the evidence base which supports pharmaceutical care and optimisation of medicines usage. It is vital that pharmacists are involved in this research and that they are in a position to disseminate their findings leading to improvements in care across different settings, ultimately resulting in improvements in public health. The Manchester Pharmacy School (MPS) is seeking to appoint THREE well-motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic academics with a good record of teaching and with the research skills to develop and deliver learning and research in pharmacy practice, with a specific focus on clinical practice (including the transitions between care settings). The post holders will be expected to develop and contribute to initiatives that aim to enhance the current M.Pharm programme but will also develop academic research that has positive impact on the pharmaceutical care of children and patients with mental health issues and cancer. The post holders will have a good understanding of their discipline and have evidence of their ability to form good networks across the healthcare professions, with a good trajectory in terms of publications and securing research grants. The post holders would be expected to work closely with colleagues across MPS where there is already a strong national and international track record of work in pharmacy practice and other key areas in the pharmaceutical sciences, in particular oncology and psychopharmacology. The post holders will be expected to work across the local hospital trusts and the domains of the Manchester Academic Health Science Centre that relate to their speciality. Manchester Academic Health Science Centre (MAHSC) The University, and in particular the Faculty of Medical and Human Sciences, is a key member of the Manchester Academic Health Science Centre (MAHSC). Overall job purpose Reporting to the Head of Practice Division, the postholders will develop and deliver research in their area of clinical expertise. The post holders will also be expected to have input into the new 5 year integrated M.Pharm course; to contribute to teaching and assessment, to curriculum development, and to consultancy activities.

Key duties Research/scholarship Undertake research and scholarship in an area or areas related to the research interests of the school or faculty. Publish peer reviewed output in journals of international standing. To secure external research income. Supervise postgraduate students at masters and doctoral levels

Teaching To contribute to the delivery of undergraduate and postgraduate teaching within the School, including preparing and giving lectures, seminars, tutorials and workshops. Contribute to the design, preparation and development of learning materials. Assessmodules, which includes setting and marking assignments and examination papers and attending assessment boards. To provide advice and guidance to students to support their academic and personal progress through the personal tutor system. Contribute to research and development of innovative methods of teaching, learning and assessment. Module leadership and management, including associated administration activities. Provide advice, counselling and pastoral support to students through the role as academic advisor. Assist with the recruitment of MPharm students by interviewing UCAS applicants. Supervise Undergraduate Level 4 Research Projects.

Leadership & Management Provide input into promoting interdisciplinary research and education Help to establish new and develop existing internal and external networks in order to deliver research Develop, deliver, lead and review learning, teaching and assessment resources for the Undergraduate MPharm. Develop others and maximise performance through identification of training needs, mentoring and encouraging personal development.
