District Development Forum launched at Peshawar on Sep 16th, 2013


The Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) Planning and Development (P&D) Government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa was the chief guest on this occasion. The C.E.O PPAF Mr. Qazi Azmat Isa, General Manager LACIP, the Deputy Commissioners of the 7 LACIP Districts and all Chief Officers from LACIPs Partner Organizations attended the workshop arranged by LACIP. On behalf of the District Government, the Additional Chief Secretary Mr. Khalid Pervaiz ensured full support and cooperation in the establishment of District Development Forum in the respective 7 Districts where LACIP operations are being carried out by the Partner Organizations of PPAF. The Deputy Commissioners extended their commitment to resolve the issues of their respective District, steer the resources allocation and development priorities of the government.

First and Second batch of LACIP trainees at NLC - ATIN graduate


LACIP UPDATE
The first batch of 498 trainees have graduated on 5th September, 2013 and the second batch of 637 trainees from all LACIP Districts have recently completed their training and have successfully graduated on 20th December, 2013. The ceremony comprised of the Chief Guest Major General Asghar Nawaz along with (D.G OPF) Mr. Saif ur Rehman, GM - LACIP Mr. Muhammad Masood Khalid and National Coordinator HELVETAS Mr. Rana Sarwar and all the C.E.Os of LACIPs Partner Organizations. The Chief Guest highly appreciated the initiative of PPAF. During his speech, Major Gen. Asghar Nawaz said that out of the graduating batch, 15 Top Position holders will be offered immediate employment at NLC. At the end of the ceremony, the Chief Guest distributed certificates and cash prizes to the highest position holders in all trades. D

Visits by BMZ and German Delegations


LACIP UPDATE

Dr. Uta Bollhoff Director General Europe, Middle East and Asia; Multilateral Development Policy, German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development visited PPAF on September 6, 2013. Dr. Uta was briefed on LACIPs project progress in terms of the interventions being implemented in the 7 Districts of Khyber Pakhunkhwa. She congratulated PPAF and the LACIP team on their innovative initiatives within the Project.

Ms. Manon Geissler Desk Officer for Pakistan German Federal Ministry of Economic Cooperation and Development visited PPAF on November 08, 2013. The LACIP Management Information System was presented to her, after which she praised the LACIP team on ensuring transparency and building an effective monitoring mechanism for the Project in a very short span of time.

3 Day Disaster Preparedness and Mitigation Workshop held at PPAF


LACIP UPDATE
A 3 day Disaster Preparedness and Mitigation training workshop was held at PPAF from 3rd to 5th December, 2013. The workshop invited all LACIP partner organizations focal members who are going to initiate the component of DPM in the selected Districts of Khyber Pakhunkhwa. The training covered the modules of Disaster Risk management Framework, concepts like hazards, vulnerability, capacity building, risk reduction, preparedness, CBDRM process, vulnerabilities and capacities at local level.

LACIP - PPAF holds District and Provincial Government Khyber Pakhtunkhwa coordination meetings for District Development Forum
LACIP UPDATE
The District Development Forum (DDF) for District Chitral held its inception meeting in Chitral on Sept. 27th chaired by Deputy Commissioner Chitral. The DC appreciated that DDF would assist in eliminating duplication of resources and activities. A Meeting was held Deputy Commissioner of District Charsadda on the 3rd October, 2013. The DC stressed on innovative projects at the Union Council level and said that with DDF would address issues in a much more organized and effective manner. A Meeting was held with the Assistant Commissioner of Swabi on 3rd October, 2013; the CCO, EDOs and DO Social Welfare of District Swabi were present. The Assistant Commissioner chaired the meeting along with the relevant line departments. Deputy Commissioner Chitral welcomed the LACIP PMU on 24th to 26th October in Chitral. LACIPs Partner Organization AKRSP was nominated to act as the Secretariat of DDF in District Chitral. The Developing Road Map for District Development Plan Chitral Workshop was held on 25th of October in Chitral at the AKRSP office. Amongst the participants were Government line departments, parliamentarians, NGOs and development agencies working in District Chitral. Priority areas were identified for future interventions in Chitral. C.E.O PPAF Mr. Qazi Azmat Isa and GM LACIP met with Chief Minister - Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Nov 7, 2013 to discuss the LACIP Project activities in the 7 Districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. On Nov 20, 2013 a follow up meeting was held with the Additional Chief Secretary (P&D), Secretary Planning and Development (P&D) and Director General Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA). On Nov. 29, 2013 a meeting was carried out by LACIP PMU at the Planning and Development department, where Chief Officer Mr. Sana ullah was nominated as focal person from the Rural Development Section from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Mr. Athmar Arbab was nominated as focal person from LACIP.

2013 has been a tremendous year for PPAF and LACIP. It is with great pride that we are able to say that implementing LACIP has been a labor of love, consistent hard work and breakthrough innovations.
