Three years ago our nation came the closest it ever has to enacting meaningful immigration reform when the DREAM Act went before the Senate for a vote. Just five votes stood in the way of this bill reaching President Obamas desk and in the way of granting immigrant students the opportunity to contribute to the success of our nation by earning a path towards citizenship. David Alameel says that he supports immigration reform but for years he helped elect Republicans that stood in the way of it becoming a reality. Alameel gave a total of $19,300 to Senators Cornyn, Hutchinson, McConnell, McCain and Representative Pete Sessions who voted against the DREAM Act and have halted our attempts at reaching needed comprehensive immigration reform.

He gave $8,500 to Senator Orrin Hatch who called the DREAM Act a "cynical exercise in political charades"

But his support of congressional Republicans who helped make sure the DREAM act failed to pass is just the beginning. Alameel gave $75,000 to Rick Perry who thinks we need to militarize the border calling it a war zone as dangerous as Iraq.

Alameel gave $4,400 dollars to former Republican Majority Leader Tom Delay who believes if people didnt have abortions there would be no need for undocumented workers in America.'

Luckily we have a choice in this Democratic primary election.

Born and raised in the border community of El Paso, Maxey has seen first hand the negative effects that our broken immigration system has had on our state.
