Personnel: At Tuesday night's regular City Council meeting the hiring of a new Administrative Police Secretary was approved to fill the vacancy of Elaine Vargason. We are expecting the new hire to start February 10th 2014. Detectives: On Thursday Detective Holman and his drug K-9 dog Raja were called to assist the Lake Superior Drug & Violent Crime Task Force in conducting a search warrant on a residence and two vehicles that were located in the City of Duluth. The investigation is on-going. Cloquet officers and detectives have been working on a reported criminal sexual assault investigation this week which is alleged to have occurred on Sunday. Interviews and statements have been taken and evidence collected. Once completed, the case will be forwarded to the County Attorney's Office for review for possible charges. Patrol: This week patrol officers responded to numerous traffic accidents, one such accident involved four cars at the intersection of Doddridge Avenue and Holmes Drive near Walgreens. No one was injured in the multi-car accident.

Department Study: With the release of the law enforcement analysis this week from Upper Midwest Community Policing Institute, much conversation has ensued among staff about the results. Conversations have centered around providing better service to the community, as well as improving efficiencies within our organization. Copies of the study have been electronically emailed to each employee and a DVD of the Tuesday night's presentation has been made available for viewing for those who could not attend. Training: This week staff has been doing online certification through the BCA for continued access to the DVS website (Driver and Vehicle Services) which is where officers get vehicle registration and driver information. Miscellaneous: Staff has been working with Carlton and St. Louis County IT to update the operating software in our squad car mobile data computers (MDC's). Our current operating software, Windows XP, will no longer be supported and the upgrade to a Windows 7 version needs to be completed by March. If you have any questions about the information provided, feel free to contact me at the police department. Respectfully Submitted,
